GIRL NEXT DOOR: An edge of your seat - vicious serial killer thriller. (Jack Ryder Book 5) Kindle Edition
“We serial killers are your sons, we are your husbands, we are everywhere”-Ted Bundy
Inspired by a true story. He came in the morning when they were still making lunches and getting ready for school and work. He killed them all - mother, father and children. Brutally slaughtered them in the comfort of their own home.
They called him the Monday Morning Killer.
That was forty years ago, but now it is happening again. A mother and her daughter are brutally murdered in their house, on a peaceful Monday morning in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Detective Jack Ryder has enough on his plate being home alone with six kids and his wife - country superstar Shannon King - on tour. This case takes his anxiety to a new level when he realizes the crime scene matches unsolved murders from four decades prior. He worries that a deranged serial killer has returned to Cocoa Beach.
No one feels safe, especially not the girl next door, who just bought the house where the first family was killed forty years ago.
Who is capable of such cruelty? And why?
Could one person be responsible for these brutal killings of entire families so many years apart? Or is Jack dealing with a copy-cat? You’ll never guess the shocking answer.
With intense twists and nerve-wracking tension, GIRL NEXT DOOR is a chilling and horrifying look into the minds of serial killers. If you like tales based on true stories, nerve-wracking tension, and twists you won’t see coming, then you’ll love Willow Rose’s nightmarish mystery novel. This mystery novel is precisely the type of book that earned her the nickname the Queen of Scream.
GIRL NEXT DOOR is the fifth book in Willow Rose's popular Jack Ryder series but can be read as a standalone.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was my first Jack Ryder book so I was a little off-balance with the character line, but I caught on quickly. The book is well written and the plot development well planned. I thought the characters in the story were representational of a possible true scenario, much to my tribulation. The principal character, Jack Ryder, is a police detective assigned to track down a serial killer, all while taking care of his children while his wife is on the road performing, dealing with an ex-girlfriend who moves back to town and into a house she bought without knowing a family was murdered in it, and so much more. With all that was happening, Willow Rose managed to keep the story on track and absorbing. I will definitely be looking for more from the author.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI wasn't sure where this story was headed.
In the first 20% it was a jumble of disconnected events, I almost gave up, but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did.
Let me first say there's some very disturbing violence in the book. So much so I was almost rooting for the killer. Are some people so evil they deserve to be murdered?
The cases that bother me most are ones where innocent children and animals are abused by sick parents. Even though it's fiction, it stays with me for a while.
So, I could have done without the graphic violence, but in general the plot had good turns and twists and a surprise ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAnother will written murder mystery family relationships romantic adventure thriller novel by Willow Rose 🌹 (Jack Ryder book 5). A serial killer has been in Cocoa Beach 🌴, Florida for the last twenty plus years. Jack is working hard taking care of six children plus his police job. An old girl 👧 friend shows up ☝ and the serial killer is back. Everything falls into place about a murder leading to the unexpected conclusion of the serial killer. Willow Rose 🌹 is one of my favourite authors, I would highly recommend this series and her too readers of mysteries. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening to Alexa. 2022 😄👒⌚😯
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2018Format: KindleVerified Purchase“Inspired by a True Story”. That grabbed me and I did guess which serial killer inspired this complex storyline. I have not read a Jack Ryder book before this, and I found myself wanting to know more of the backstory on these characters. A Detective with six children from ages 19 to 3 or 4? The 19-year-old has serious anorexia. The smallest child has a recurring fever, and Jack’s wife, Shannon, is some kind of super-star-singer-performer and on a tour! Jack seems overwhelmed between the children and numerous murders happening in his town. Jack and Shannon both seem a little more flawed than I would expect as main characters, but it just makes them more human, I guess.
As a who-done-it, this is a very enjoyable read. I can see a hint of the horror writer, as the evil depicted is dark and raw, and some of the action is chaotic. Lots of surprises and twists make for a very entertaining read!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseApparently, I've missed a couple of this series because Jack and Shannon were in a totally different place than when I last saw them.
The murder mystery part of this book was as twisty with multiple suspects as usual but the personal lives had gotten all screwed up!
As a parent, and now a helpful grandparent, I know how tangled and complicated life with multiple children can get but this went way over the top! These kids were way too much for any parent, even with helpful grandparents, to cope with!
Hope they get their crap together!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGirl Next Door is very fast paced thriller with well developed characters, lots of twists and I didn’t know who the killer was until the end. Unusual.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIf you like mysteries, psychological torture, horror, and a well written book...this is something you will absolutely love. All of her books are imaginative and riveting, with plot twists you will never see coming. This is the 5th book im the Jack Ryder series. And it picks up with Shannon on tour and Jack trying to balance his life with the kids and his detective work. As always, he manages to pull it all together and solve the impossible case. Highly recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLoved this story ! Superb characters and a terrific detective in Jack Ryder. Best cop in Florida ! Can't wait for the next book in this series .
