I’m obsessed with a man I can’t have.
For over a year, I have not only worked with Jake, but I have lived with him too.
Why can’t I have him?
He’s getting married to my mother.
When she suddenly decides to move out of the house, the tension between Jake and I reaches a fever pitch.
Feelings which had been bottled up for so long are now bursting to get out.
I can no longer hide the overwhelming emotions that flow through me.
Unfortunately, neither can a serial killer on the loose dubbed “The Blonde Killer.”
I am his obsession.
And Jake, the senior detective in charge of the Major Investigations Unit, is responsible for catching the murderer.
I’m scared, but I know Jake will do everything in his power to protect me.
I feel things can’t get any worse.
Until they do.

Warning: Cliffhanger ending. Book 2 will be released on 6th April 2021.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
I really liked this book! There were ALOT of steamy scenes and a great suspense. I loved reading about Jake and Ana's road to finally getting their hearts desires. I am on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next since the book ended with something big! I can't wait to read the next one!

I will start with say that when you start to read don't put it down after the first chapter, you may want to because it starts with ana having a huge crush or obsession for her soon to be step dad jake. it makes it harder to hold down those feeling since they work together at the police station. jake is the captain of the force. i know it sounds crazy but when you read the story you will learn that its not has unhealthy as it starts in the beginning. ana has been pulled to every direction with her mom who uses guys to get what she wants then she runs. for ana though jake and his son are the first family that she feels that she is really a part of. when they come home to an empty closet ana knows that her mom has struck again. jake is hurt but really deep inside he is kind of happy, cause he has been holding a secret that he feels that he may not be able to hold anymore. ana feels that this may be faith telling her to give in to her feelings for jake. every time she has tried to give in to those feelings, she convinces herself to stop. but one night after drinking she kisses jake and he stops and tells her it isn't right. after talking to her friend jessie and she gives her advise that she takes to heart. so she does what any woman would do and show him what he is giving up. so at the bbq she flirts with the guys from the station and that drives jake crazy, his alpha male that he is takes over and he takes her outside and kisses her with so much want and yet lust that it confuses ana more then anything. several other encounters that they have are only proving that he feels the same way as she does but he wont give in. but after the bbq jake cant take it anymore. he won't allow other men to even think that they have an opportunity to her. so he stakes his claim, in the mist of all this they are working on a case it involves a serial killer, jake and ana spend a weekend as lovers when she finally goes back to her room she is alarmed to find a note. and it is from the killer. jake goes crazy. They make there relationship solid so you think, you have drama, love, killing, and heart break. just when you think that you see the light at the end of the tunnel. that light is turned off. i really cant wait for book 2

It was absolutely amazing, kept me engaged and the characters were great, wonderful storyline and I lost myself in the plot.
I cannot wait for the next book ( I hope it will be out soon)!

I would highly recommend Take a Breath for anyone who wants to relax and lose themselves in a wonderfully written story.

I hesitate to say this as some might take it negatively BUT if you liked FSOG you should enjoy this book-although there isn't any kink here.
The story here is interesting in that Ana (FSOG) is in love with her mother's fiance. I know what you start to think Ewww....but the author does a good job of not making it gross, child predator stuff-no really-it all works leaving no residual residue.
Jake is a sexy, manly man, cop, broody alpha male. Ana is young but not so dumb, has a brain and a career.
There is tons of sexual tension-then hot sex but FSOG haters- there is biting of lips, fisting of hands at their sides, "you're beautiful, you're amazing, what are you doing to me". If you can overlook that it's a great story and a fast read.

The part that made me yell "SUCK"....cliffhanger!!
Damn it. But I'll totally read it to find out about the bad guy.

Jake is the ultimate Caveman!! He's strong, sexy and passionate! Ana is beautiful and endearing! Together they make perfect sense and such a beautiful couple. My heart hurts so much for Ana . I truly wish for a HEA for her. Because she deserves it more than anyone. Love this authors writing! She can take you from pure bliss to " Oh my god, that did not just happen" in the blink of an eye. Creative and spontaneous! I will be eagerly awaiting book 2!!

I really enjoyed this story of Ana and Jake and their attempt at a relationship. Jake, who was engaged to Ana's mother, began a relationship with Ana after the mother left without a word. I completely believed Ana and Jake's relationship - it felt natural and developed in a realistic manner. What I didn't understand was why Jake was with the mother in the first place. I think that will be addressed in the second book, although it was bothering me throughout the entire book. The story was set in America and a football game was played - it would have been better to refer to it as a "game" not a "match", on a "field" not a "pitch". The cultural differences in word use was a little disconcerting to me, but it was not too distracting. Overall, it was a fun read with good sex scenes and fun characters.

I was hooked from the first page.. I loved it and could not put it down. The ending left me hanging...and I can not wait for the second part, which I am hoping will be out very soon. This was a rather long story, which is a good thing. So many of them lately have been short and missing a lot. Not this one.. the characters were good, the story line was amazing..so many twists and turns!!! I won't spoil it for those who haven't read it..but I can hope that it all turns out for the best for Anna and Jake.

    Another good story from Jamie.
The story is about Ana who works as a criminal analyst. She is living with her mother and her mother’s fiancé Jake and his son. When Ana mother does one of her disappearing acts Jake and Ana get closer than before. They are investigating a serial killer who has been killing young women who have blonde hair and blue eyes. However, what happens when said serial killer turns his attention onto Ana and when she gets a note Jake knows he needs to watch Ana and let her know she is safe.
I like the chemistry between Jake and Ana and If you like, possessive alpha males then wait until you meet Jake.
This story is well written you will like the characters; I liked the storyline Believable romance between them and some scenes very hot between them. I really enjoyed this one by Jaimie and I cannot wait for more.

I've just read the new edited version of Take a Breath and it's way better. I went into this book with a renewed take on it and although I could've rated this a little less but I think it deserves the 41/2 stars. It's a storyline that starts off confusing (kind of forgotten) for me at first but it also left me guessing about the mysterious plot of an obsessive killer to the chemistry of the somewhat annoying Ana that I actually liked in the end to Jake's alpha'ish me tarzan you Jane lol, hot as steamy scenes to good characters and a twist you’d never guess.

Somehow I wished that Jake had his own POV and the blurb doesn’t really give anything away about why Ana couldn’t have Jake. But, the end it does really shine a light as to how Jake meets Ana.

I'm no good at reviews, never know what to say or how to put things so bare with me.

Disliked the mother as soon as I read what the book was going to be about. Relieved when she disappeared, p***ed that's she's come back...plumper?! OMG no this cannot mean she's expecting surely??? Anyway she seemed to be fake in her concern and to focused on what her and Jake had to tell Ana.

Matthew wise in his young years and very resilient. Wonder how he's going to react...badly I hope and makes he'll at home. Such a sweet character only been 16 not sure what I expected.

Ana...strong sweet overall nice person who you can't help but like. I liked her friendships with colleague's and how free she seemed to be in every aspect of her life but when things came to Jake it was complicated. After this I hope she gets her HEA whether it be with Jake, Michael or John she deserves to be happy after everything she has been through. Obviously Jake would be my first choice for her HEA. Killer was a bit obvious how could she not tell he was a bit strange? I wonder if she'll cope with whatever her disgraceful mother is going to throw at her...I have a feeling I know what the 'news' is but God I'm hoping it's all lies.

Jake 'caveman' Bennett wtf have you done!! Jake is a strong alpha male but has strong values which is good but in the case of the mother I feel that he needs to look at what she's saying and look at what his heart is telling him not his head. An aid his soul mate and this shines throughout the book.

Good book hopefully book 2 will be out soon.

Jaimie has some good ideas here and it’s quite a good plot but the writing needs a some work. The speech is incredibly stilted and unrealistic at times, the characters are clichéd and it’s all a bit predictable. That being said I did still enjoy it and carried on and finished the series.
I read this after reading ‘I’m a creep’ which is much better. As it’s written more recently I think it’s fair to assume that Jaimie has learnt from her mistakes and improved the more she writes. I would definitely recommend sticking with this author!
