Every Yesterday (Boot Creek) Kindle Edition
Megan Howard used to be a successful painter—but that was a long time ago. These days she’s struggling to move forward, convinced her heart is permanently broken after her last relationship and grief stricken over the loss of her father. Clinging to memories of happier times, she holds tight to her father’s most cherished possession: a 1958 DeSoto Adventurer. Though she needs the money, she’ll never sell it—even loaning the prized automobile to her best friend on the day of her wedding stirs up painful memories.
Avowed bachelor and car collector Noah Black has never seen a car he can live without…or a woman he can live with. Reluctant to see his best friend condemned to matrimony, he flies to Boot Creek from California to be the best man in the wedding. But after discovering that the gorgeous maid of honor owns the car of his dreams, Noah makes a pricey bet that he’ll add the DeSoto to his collection, no matter what it takes.
Despite their determination to stay single, Noah and Megan soon find they can’t resist each other. His attention turns from getting the car to getting the girl, and thanks to Noah, Megan can imagine a life in the present. But when the truth about Noah’s wager comes to light, will it threaten to throw Megan’s new perspective into reverse?

- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI always thought that there were two categories for romance novels. They were either steamy, passionate affairs, or love that was more gentle and sweet. Sometimes I wondered if they could exist in the same story, since they never seemed to. I guess I was just waiting for this book. These characters are sassy and strong, yet they're compassionate and have depth. The story is believable, even though love strikes quickly as it often does in book time. Love of family and connection to community are woven throughout, yet the grand passion is there also. There is a difference between intimate and explicit, and this book delivers beautiful intimacy without being overly graphic. This story will make you sigh, and cheer, and laugh more than once. And if you're a daddy's girl, keep the tissues handy.

The love story of Megan and Noah, brought together at the wedding of their best friends. Megan lets her best friend use the classic car she owns for her wedding. Noah is coming to Boot Creek to be the best man in his best friends wedding. Noah, an automobile collector will do anything to add that car to his collection. A great read with everything you want in a book! Humor, heartbreak and a happily ever after.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLove how Nancy adds to the depth of her characters lives , She brings to life the struggles we all face because the past has a way of gripping tightly to our souls and then we meet someone who's soul hears ours and we can finally let go of what once was and our Every Yesterday. That's writing Nancy!
If you are a fan of a love story with a little suspense you are going to love Nancy Naigle, she is, in my opinion, one of the best romance writers hands down.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseBeing a contemporary romance fan I've seen Nancy Naigle's books around, but hadn't had the chance to read one before Every Yesterday. I'm really happy I got the chance to read it. It was a classic, well written contemporary romance novel. The small town North Carolina setting was inviting and cute. I enjoyed the dual points of view and the unique conflict between the characters.
The thing that prevented me from giving Every Yesterday 5 stars was the actual characters. They weren't horrible, but I just didn't connect with them. Megan's anti-love stance was a little off-putting. It's not that I didn't like that she was anti-love, it was just the way she came across. I can't even explain it. I think maybe it would have helped knowing the reasoning behind her stance earlier on in the novel. Maybe then her words and actions would have been easier to identify with.
I had a bigger problem with Noah. His whole approach to the car thing made him seem super sleazy. Those moments were so repulsive that I had a hard time enjoying the good parts of his personality. I just couldn't get past it. I think I would have loved the way Noah and Megan connected otherwise. They had some really special moments that could have been amazing had I loved the people involved.
Overall, Every Yesterday was a cute contemporary read. I just wished I would have fallen in love with the characters as much as I fell in love with the setting and the plot.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseNancy Naigle successfully integrated an automotive theme into her novel "Every Yesterday." The initial reference to a 1958 De Soto Adventurer captured my attention, but it was the detail she added and how she wrapped the story around the car that got me to purchase a Kindle version and read it. And, I've got to admit, the start wasn't much my cup of tea. Megan Howard makes candles in the tiny town of Boot Creek in, what was it, the Carolinas? Megan's introduction is that of a woman who needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle (old Ms. magazine comment I read back when I was bored as a teenager). Megan's maid of honor at a wedding. Yawn, right? Not really. Naigle has a knack for breathing life into her characters. Megan starts off as a stick in the mud, but she's really more than that. She's nuanced. Guys aren't for her. Then comes Noah Black, another character against type. Or maybe this is a formula I'm unfamiliar with. Doesn't matter. After a chapter that involved banter amongst Megan and her fellow bridesmaids that made me want to put the book down and never read it again, the rest took off. At least for me. The De Soto is a car I had no clue about. Who does? It's weird. My dream car as a teen in the 1970s was a Chevy Nomad. Somehow Naigle recreates this love of automotive steel and obscurity. She revolves the story around it, quite successfully. There's conflict, but it's not formulaic in the slightest. And there's no stupidity on the part of any character to move the plot forward or toss. Megan and Noah are featured as intelligent people who are somewhat stubborn and creatures of their backstories. I ended up finishing this in a day. That's not like me. Usually I'll take a week. This one got me so into the story that I just had to know. And a shout out to the old proprietor of the hardware store in Boot Creek. I loved that guy, still filling out every transaction by hand in a ledger, going slow as heck. And I wanted more on these characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is the second book in the Boot Creek series (but I read it last) and am sad to see this series end. Nancy writes small town life with a deft touch making the characters and the surroundings so real, you feel like you’re there. Betrayal by someone you loved is a tough hill to climb to reach trust on the other side. If you want to live your life to the fullest, then you need to find a way. I enjoyed the journey this couple took and cheered for them at the end.
