- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWow! You sure know how to write a great story ! Seriously I really enjoy reading your books. I will read every book in this series ! Tony found his love when he protected Chrissy from men who were so messed up & tried to kill her & did kill her best friend ! Her job at the law office was a very bad place to work ! Thank you for a great job !
- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI am a big fan of A.J. Downey's biker books. I have devoured them all and like her writing style. Because of this I have a favor to ask. Bite the bullet and keep reading after you start. Chapter one has quite a few errors, but after that it is a lovely flowing story. I don't know what happened in the first chapter but the story is amazing and definitely worth reading.
Why is it worth reading??? First off all Her Thin Blue Lifeline isn't the average Motorcycle Club genre story. The members of this club are the law and not criminals or those skirting the law. You can ride with policeman, fireman, medical personnel and district attorneys. You know your are safe with these bikers.
Secondly, The alpha hero, Tony is a really cool detective. He is caring. He is dedicated. He is cute. He is the ultimate dedicated boyfriend. He is the guy that many of us dream of dating, marrying, having babies with. The other members of Indigo Knights are have bad either, so go get your drool on.
Thirdly, Christina, the damsel in distress, is basically a strong person. She is intelligent. She is gorgeous. She is a dedicated defense attorney. Her only mistake was defending the wife charged with killing her baseball star husband.
Welcome to the real world. This is a story based on the problems created by social media and the black web. Those that don't care about the truth, those that only know how to hate, those that only looking for someone to blame have put Christina in their crosshairs.
The story is full of good guys, bad guys, bullies and an innocent girl who was just doing her job. Her life is in danger because a few people got an idea in their head. They fueled the fire. They influenced others. They made it easy for her to die. She will die unless the good guys can stop it.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI just started reading this series and the first book has done what it is supposed to do. Ready to read the next one. This was a very enjoyable book. Moving on to the next one.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseChrissy Franco just won a major case, but not everyone is happy about her success. Someone posts her home address online and it only takes one nut job to take everything away from Chrissy. Tony McCormick is the police detective called to the scene and the one to find Chrissy barely alive. Chrissy won't be able to feel safe again until the culprit is caught and Tony won't rest until he finds the man terrorizing Chrissy.
I felt for Chrissy. She is the woman everyone relates to at night walking home alone. Or on a dark street alone. Her story is why some people lock their doors at night. She is the woman with the target on her back for no reason other than because she hit a man's ego. I felt for her and her feelings of terror and PTSD. I wanted her to recover and to pick up the shattered pieces of her life in a happy ending.
This book is such a true reflection of what people and women go through in this world where we are never truly safe. When something so terrible happens, like it did to Chrissy, the person might never fully recover - physically and mentally. Chrissy is so brave to stay in that city and to work as hard as she did in her physical therapy. She did nothing to deserve what happened to her. The author gave so much life and power to Chrissy. She wasn't your typical damsel in distress.
I liked seeing a different kind of motorcycle club than the Sacred Hearts series and can't wait to see where AJ Downey goes next.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2017Format: KindleI read a couple of books from A.J. Downey and I liked them. However this book is a bit different from the others. It has a completely different feel to it. I liked it but couldn’t love it for a couple of different reasons.
First of all Her thin blue lifeline is a second chance romance ( what I not so over the moon about) hidden in a suspense story. It’s kind of slow paced but not because of the way the events play out but thanks to the writing style. I found the structure of the book a bit stuffy and dense. The way the heavy, long monologues, narrations and the short, brief conversations are balanced is not the best. I mean there are barely any conversations in the book at all and most of the things happen in the background then ‘later’ recounted in a monotonous way. Basically things are told and not shown. The author style is generally heavier, not as airy but in this case things ended up to busy.
The plot itself reminds me more of those detective TV shows, how the whole storyline is concentrates on and follows investigation. But I couldn’t enjoy it as much as I think I could have because as I mentioned earlier the exciting things happened behind the scenes. As for the romance part I’m not so sure. I liked the characters together, but this is a second chance for them, there is not too much romancing, things kind of fall into place for them and they go with the flow. It’s kind of light on this aspect.
The book is definitely not character driven. The characters are okay but other than the two main character we don’t really get to see to deep into them. And even when it comes to Chrissy and Tony the details are few and far between. Most of the story is told from Tony point of view and I actually liked this development. But really the story and the events focus so much more on the investigation part that there is not much to tell about the characters. They are both workaholics or just carrier driven but good people. And that’s it, so yeah they are not remarkable at all but likeable.
Then comes the members of the biker club Tony is part of. There are a lot of different members however we get to know even less about them than the main couple. Although I think there are a few interesting prospects among them for future books. Still I missed the bond, the brotherhood MC books usually present.
Her thin blue lifeline is an alright read, I liked it but I think it could have been better. I was a bit disconnected from the story because of the writing style and feel like the whole story had the potential to be more intense. I wouldn’t even mind that the characters faded into the background if the structure hasn’t been so tightly packed. It was definitely different from my usual reads.

leah leckieReviewed in Australia on June 27, 20175.0 out of 5 stars AJ Downey can do anything!!!!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOk AJ hit me right smack bang in the feels! Again ! I gotta say lm a huge fan of her MC stuff. So writing about the good guys? Yeah l was a tiny bit nervous. But there was no need. AJ it seems can stay on the right side of the law and still knock it Out if the park! She has this way of writing that grabs you right from the first paragraph. And it's not possible to put the book down you have to read it all in one go. This book flows, the characters click, the story is fabulous! I don't do spoilers so lm just going to say, AJ doesn't disappoint here! Go now get it, read it, then read it again!

Kindle CustomerReviewed in the United Kingdom on April 20, 20193.0 out of 5 stars Ok
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe storyline was ok but I thought there were to many secondary characters. I know this was the first book in a new series and the author wanted to introduce the future leads, but there were just to many . Also, I had to go back and reread parts in order to work out who was doing what, so maybe a bit more editing would have been useful.
