Royalty: Contemporary Christian Supernatural Fiction (Royal Lineage Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
Rayne Martin never expected Brighton College to be anything more than a steppingstone to adulthood. But from the moment she steps on campus, something feels…off. Whispers in the shadows. Eyes that glow in the dark. A darkness that doesn’t just linger—it hunts.
Raised in the Bible Belt, Rayne knew the motions of faith. Church on Sundays. Prayers when needed. But when she surrenders her heart fully to Christ, everything shifts. She’s not just saved—she’s claimed. A daughter of the King. Royalty in a realm most students don’t even know exists.
Now, God is calling her to stand against the demonic forces infiltrating Brighton. To lead. To fight. To awaken others who carry the same royal bloodline. But Rayne has never wielded a sword, spiritual or otherwise. She’s terrified, untrained, and unsure anyone would follow her into battle.
Yet Heaven doesn’t make mistakes.
As darkness rises and the war intensifies, Rayne must decide if she will embrace her divine identity and rise as a warrior of light—
or let fear silence the call of her crown.
Perfect for fans of Ted Dekker, Frank Peretti, and Sharon Hinck, Royalty is a gripping blend of supernatural suspense, divine calling, and spiritual warfare for readers who crave stories where angels walk unnoticed, evil hides in plain sight, and ordinary girls are called to do the extraordinary.

About the author

Laura Ranger is a natural storyteller who has been turning life’s moments into tales since childhood. A mother of one and grandmother of four, Laura began writing down her fictional stories to the delight of family and friends. With over thirty years of storytelling experience, her passion for writing has only grown stronger over time.
Her publishing journey began with a short story featured in the Christmas anthology "Eight ‘Til Christmas", a project supporting the fight against child hunger. Seeing her story in print lit a creative fire she describes as unstoppable.
Laura is the author of "Deception" and "Royalty", and she co-authored the novel "Rogue". In 2025, she released two new titles: "Made for Me", and "Taken: The Complete Carl Higdon Story", a non-fiction work. Her novel "Royalty" has blossomed into a four-book series "The Royal Lineage Series", with "Heirs" (Book Two), "Chosen" (Book Three), and "United" (Book Four) all slated for release in early 2026.
She is also developing a thoughtful new book called "Lessons", which she envisions as a shared reading experience between parents and children. While originally written for young readers, Laura discovered that the meaningful themes resonate with readers of all ages.
A prolific writer with countless ideas in the works, Laura continues to bring her stories to life, one book at a time. “God blessed me with a natural gift of storytelling,” she says. “It’s up to me to use that gift to the best of my ability.”
Beyond her work as an author, Laura is also the owner of the traditional Foundations Book Publishing Company, and the hybrid for self-publishing Vitality House Book Publishing Company, where she helps others share their stories with the world.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchasePowerful book, partly based on some real life events that the author had! Very moving.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2018Format: KindleThis is a nice tale and I thank the author for writing it. It is heavily Christian-based and has bible verses in it, so if that is not your cup of tea, I would not recommend it for you. I loved the main character of the story and it was wonderful to watch her grow in her faith and confidence and...of course...I loved the Angels in the end who come to her aid.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2018Format: KindleDon't let the title fool you, this story is about love, but has nothing to do a happily ever after prince finds his princess. This is not an adult Cinderella story, bur it is truly amazing.
Rayne Martin has graduated from high school, but doesn't wish to attend her parents alma mater as they wished for her. She wants to go away, and live on campus, to get the full college experience. She tosses up a dime, and it lands on Brighton College, located miles away from her Georgia home, and family.
At first her parents don't approve of her choice of a college, but then come around to seeing Rayne as an adult she wants desperately to be. She leaves Georgia, in her car that her parents gave her as a graduation/birthday gift. She couldn't possibly make the ride in one day, and her father made reservations in an Inn for her to stay, where she could eat dinner, and get to sleep at a decent hour.
She met some people along the way, cautioning her to be careful around strangers, and how much she trusted anyone. Being from a small town in Georgia, people were always polite and helpful, so all these warnings made her weary. It was going against the way she was raised, yes she knew to be careful around strangers, but the people she encountered so far, made the world sound like a harsher to place to live.
Her room mate, Becca, wasn't even close to the person she imagined herself rooming with, she imagined having a room mate that would be like a sister, and that they would always keep in touch, no matter what paths their lives took. Rayne decided to take a ride into town, to get familiar with the stores around her. It seemed Becca's attitude was the "norm" in this town, the owners of each establishment she went to treated her rudely, and refused to help her with anything
This town was nothing but pure evil, and Rayne needed to rely on everything she she was raised to believe, and to learn more of her Christian faith. She was born to be do good things, but on a higher level than either she or her parents thought were possible.
With summer approaching quickly, and vacation time coming soon for many, this would be a perfect book to read on a plane, pool side, or beach. Happy reading!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2018Format: KindleInteresting book. Well-written with some interesting comparassions between our world and the characters in this book. Our main character, Rayne is off to college, but finds that she needs to decide whether to go back home or learn to stand up for what she believes in.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2018Format: HardcoverThe author does an amazing job of drawing parallels between today's avarice, meaness and immorality and her fictional characters' devilish deeds. In a contemporary setting Rayne sets off for college looking forward to independence from her parents only to find that she is vulnerable to the evils of life on campus. Does she run back home or stand up for what she was brought up to believe in? That question has the young protagonist searching her soul for answers....
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2018Format: HardcoverThis book is a story of self-discovery with a twist. The author masterfully weaves the world we know with the equally real and yet unseen world we also inhabit. Rayne discovers who she truly is in this exciting story, where truth is far more than we normally perceive, and random choices may not be up to chance at all. Well-written, full of unexpected twists and complicated relationships; I would recommend this book to anyone from teens through adulthood.
