  <title>CHANGING JOURNALS.  And... everything else, pretty much.</title>

  <description>So this is the thing: I am feeling the need for change, and for a distance from this journal. It has been two years, but I almost feel overdue for a switch. This probably says something about me, but I do not care what.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So I am switching journals. And... pretty much everything. I am going on friending sprees later, after I finish setting things up. Feel free to add now, and I will add you back later. Or to not. I enjoy reading everyone on my list, but I completely understand if you do not want me around.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So first of all, there are two new journals. One is for general journaling, and one is for bad days and bitching and negativity. Because I really hate looking back through my journal and seeing all the bitching I do.   <title>[100 Things] Spirituality: 001. Definitions</title>

Definitions&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, as I have said, this 100 Things is going to be  more about personal reflections and thoughts than a 101 course, or a how-to, or basic information of any kind, really. I am a second generation Wiccan who is looking to reconnect with their religion; this is going to be my journey through that more than anything else.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That being said: Definitions? Are a beautiful thing. So here are some. This is what I mean when I say Wicca and magic. It may not exactly match someone else&apos;s definition; they&apos;re hard concepts to pin down.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;What Wicca &lt;i&gt;is&lt;/i&gt;: A religion based on God and Goddess worship (though this can take a lot of different forms) with emphasis on the idea of balance and harmony, personal responsibility and free will, and respect for nature and the world in general. &lt;br /&gt;The goal of Wicca, as &lt;i&gt;I personally see it&lt;/i&gt;, is living in harmony with the universe around us, aware of the divine presence in all things, including and especially the person&apos;s own being.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Wicca is &lt;i&gt;not:&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;*Devil worship or Satanism.&lt;br /&gt;*A cult.&lt;br /&gt;*Anything you want it to be.&lt;br /&gt;*A religion with a holy book, or a code of conduct.&lt;br /&gt;*Blindly following the Wiccan Rede (An it harm none, do what ye will). Rede means &lt;i&gt;advice&lt;/i&gt;: good advice, but just that. It is not a law, though most Wiccans do follow it.&lt;br /&gt;*A religion whose sole goal is some kind of awesome afterlife.&lt;br /&gt;*Goddess worship. I mean, it is, but it&apos;s also God worship, for most Wiccans (Dianic traditions aside). Balance is the key word: of the masculine and feminine, of the dark and light, of everything in the universe.&lt;br /&gt;*An old, ancient religion passed down by yada yada yada.  Wicca takes inspiration from older religions and practices, but it was created by Gerald Gardener. In the 50s. &lt;br /&gt;*For that matter, I am just going to leave this here: &lt;i&gt;The Burning Times - This was NOT a mass persecution and repression of women and/or witches by the church. In fact, current studies are showing that secular, NOT church, courts did the vast majority of executions.... There were not 9 million women killed; the current figures suggest more like 40,000 to 100,000, mostly Christians who pissed someone off.&lt;/i&gt; (&lt;a href=&quot;http://blessedbe.sugarbane.com/wicca.htm&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;From here&lt;/a&gt;.)&lt;br /&gt;*A religion based around magic or witchcraft, though many Wiccans do practice magic.&lt;br /&gt;*A religion you &lt;i&gt;must&lt;/i&gt; be initiated into, or have a coven to practice, though many Wiccans do.&lt;br /&gt;*Easy to define!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What &lt;i&gt;I think&lt;/i&gt; magic is: The use of spellwork, visualization, and such tools to manipulate the energy of the universe, to bring things you want or send away things you don&apos;t from your life (or someone else&apos;s).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Magic is &lt;i&gt;not&lt;/i&gt;: &lt;br /&gt;*Something every Wiccan does.&lt;br /&gt;*Actually reliant on tools, or even on words: If you have the focus, silent spellwork worked entirely in visualization can be quite powerful! We&apos;re just not all that focused. The tools are just that: tools, to help.&lt;br /&gt;*Spelt with a k, though I understand the principle behind people using &quot;magick&quot; to distiguish from pop culture ideas of magic.&lt;br /&gt;*For that matter: Just about anything you&apos;ve seen in movies or tv shows. It is not instant gratification, usually. It is not special powers -- though plenty of people can do things you wouldn&apos;t believe, it very rarely works the same way it does on your screen; nor is it the result of a pact with a devil or some special bloodline.&lt;br /&gt;*Divided into black and white magic. All magic can be used in good and bad ways, and by the way, dark? Is not bad. Especially the development thereof.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;4. Worship.&lt;/b&gt; Not neccessarily sexual -- or even romantic, if you want to do that. Religious undertones (or overtones) welcome. Just give me someone (or someones) making someone else the focus of all attention and a lot of adoration.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;5. Marks of ownership, possessiveness, claiming, etc.&lt;/b&gt; Whether literally marks -- bites, bruises, tattoos, scars -- or an object -- collars, or something else given with the same general purpose, hell, even wedding rings could probably fall into this for the right people --  or... anything else, really. Be as creative as you want.   <description>I am belatedly stealing this from my partner, because I can, because it&apos;d be nice to think about my verses, and because the end of my spring break my mother and I are shutting ourselves in to have an &lt;i&gt;epic&lt;/i&gt; three-plus days try-to-get-to-writing session and I need to figure out what I&apos;m trying to write.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;i&gt;Ask me about my original verses. Ask me questions about the world, the people who live there, mechanics, themes, anything you want.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Academyverse: A group of very altered and, for the most part, barely still human survivors from a fucked-up school try to make it on the run. Contains personified emotions, psychics, insanity, travel, escape, torture, sensory loss, and all the chosen family themes ever.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;All Through the Night: In which some people can do special things, some other people are trying to develop defenses and reign them in without their knowledge, and Morgan really needs to poke at more than two people in this verse. Contains bodyguards in a dub-con sort of fashion, travel, magic/psychic abilities, some sort of scientific facility, and fuck only knows what else right now.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Angels Unawares: Every year, angels come of age and, as per an old tradition, are sent to Earth as last trial before adulthood. Left somewhere on Earth to go through a personal ordeal, they stumble their way through dealing with humanity and sometimes fight to control abilities that never had this many triggers in Heaven. And some of them feel a call, pulling them towards parts unknown, that may or may not be part of the trial, or may just be an old myth that&apos;s more real than anyone thought. Contains angelic tribes and lots of coming-of-age themes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Civil-verse: The one where there are ranks of angels, the ones in charge are more interested in having fun than running things, the secretaries and underlings run the world and are occasionally fucking terrifying, the devils are really angels and like to do their jobs with class, and sometimes angels do something terrible and get themselves kicked out. Contains loooots of angel bureaucracy and other than that, I am not sure.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Come Stand By Me: In which there are training houses across the world for people who aren&apos;t human to stay safe and, if they&apos;d like, learn to blend into humanity. Some are halfway houses of a sort, some just train you and send you on, and more than you would hope are dangerous, cults, or useless. Contains banshees and fae and werewolves and sirens and brownies and sprites and mermaids and more, oh my. And also a bed-and-breakfast run by humans that draws in more non-humans than any other customers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;the Dance Carries On: In which fae/god-like-beings/who knows what they want to call themselves are split into vaguely different but distinct categories, and each one has its own job to keep the world running. Contains the Trees, the Times, the Seasons, the Sins and Virtues, and the Questions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fail Demons: Angels and demons exist; there&apos;s no difference between the labels, except the demons are either really bad at their jobs, or really good at jobs that scare people or that they disapprove of. Contains sooooo many angels it&apos;s headache inducing, and riffing off various mythologies.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Footprints in the Sand: God left the world in the early stages, but he left a plan for us. The angels are trying to follow it and ignoring that all but the oldest of their ranks are fucked up. The demons take offense to God thinking he knows best. Everyone else just tries to get along. Contains lots of species, infant and child death (mentioned frequently, both natural causes and not), various forms of insanity, and lots of dysfunction all around.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Greyhaven-verse: In which an author is sucked into his own post-apocalyptic story and discovers his characters, and his world, are really not what he thought. Contains lots of high fantasy cliches.&lt;br /&gt;  &lt;br /&gt;the Group: Sometimes people are born with special abilities. And the stronger those abilities are, the more toll they&apos;ll take on their body, and the younger their body will give out. Contains a group of eight who are together and taking care of each other, and a plot still to be discovered.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Myths-verse: Greek gods exist. (Other gods might too, but the Greeks are the focus here.) They influence the world. They have churches, sometimes in places you might not expect. They have children, demigods around the world, shaped by what their parents are and represent. Contains &lt;i&gt;all&lt;/i&gt; the demigods, and lots of interesting unintentional churches and a few intentional ones.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Personifications-verse: When the personification of Death goes missing, his daughter, who never knew what he was, has to go into his home realm to try and find him. Along the way, she, a friend, and a servant of her father&apos;s encounter the various personifications that exist in and lord over the realm, makes allies, makes enemies, and do their best to unravel what&apos;s going on. Contains lots of personifications, and some kind of epic curse.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sentient Magic: In which magic is a disease, or maybe a parasite. Once you&apos;re infected, you have to deal with its presence in your brain. This is how people deal with it. Contains non-human beings, magical human beings, humans and creatures so non-magical they can see the fact that others are, and magic being a character in its own right.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;War Angels: In which angels are at war, and either fighting for control, or just trying to survive and stay out of the line of fire.   <description>I&apos;ve been rather awful about talking to people lately, and I know it. It&apos;s a depression thing, mostly, but it&apos;s not a not wanting to thing. It&apos;s just hard, to reach out, to say something, to tell myself it&apos;s okay and it won&apos;t be bothering people.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I&apos;m working on it. I&apos;m working on a lot of things but right now I am trying to work on this, because I&apos;m also feeling isolated and lonely and a little bit desperate for contact. So, I am stealing this from my partner, who stole it from someone else.   <description>So as I said in my last entry, I am aiming for upwards of 6k in writing tonight to get back towards on track. And as I don&apos;t entirely have the brain for my novel, at least until I get some writing out and into a words mode, this will probably be written in shorter stories rather than my NaNo novel.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So this is a requests/prompts post!
