tutorial: hugh jackman
A few people asked me how I made the fur seal icon (from the previous post) so I decided to make a tutorial.
No fur seals this time.
Let's take Hugh Jackman picture and have more fun :)
going from
to
resize and crop your image.

duplicate the layer and set it to screen. then create new layer, fill it with black and set to overlay
(2 optional things: if your image is too dark it can be nesessary to duplicate screen layer a couple more times. and if it's not black and white just create a new layer, fill it with black abd set to color). so we have this:

then I took this textrure by
dearest, take a piece and set it to darken (erase some parts if nesessary).

choose "custom shape" tool, choose heart and put it on top of all layers (color dark red). set this layer to multiply

then add text if you want. and here it is:

NOTE: in the fur seal icon you can see that the half of the icon is dark and half is light. to get this - simply cut a part of your base with polygonal lasso tool. works best if your image has light background)
