Tutorial #3 - Ms. KClarkson =]

I've been playing around with some things, and Photoshop CS4, and wanted to share. Enjoy!

Program: Photoshop CS4
Difficulty: Easy/Medium
PSD?: Request

001. First step, do what you usually do with an image. Crop, sharpen, lighten it. In my case, I crop, sharpened and duplicated the base layer, and set it to Screen 100%

002. Now we're going to do a photo filter layer. So go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Photo Filter. Set it to Filter: Deep Yellow, Density 25%

If you don't have Photo Filter, try playing around with a solid yellow fill layer.

003. Now Selective Coloring! Use these settings:
Reds: -56 | 0 | +43 | 0
Yellows: +100 | 0 | -77 | 0
Neutrals: +28 | 0 | -17 | 0

The image no longer looks yellow, more greyish.

004. The next step is purely to make the image more reddish. So another selective coloring layer...
Reds: -100 | +36 | +100 | 0
Yellows: -100 | -100 | -100 |0

You can stop there, or do what I did. I used this texture, made by me. My computer's a bit weird, but all I wanted was a smoky gradient type of texture. You can use any at this point. I was just lazy so I made one really fast. Set it to Lighten 100%.

Another tutorial for all of you guys interested out there, here you go!

Program Used: Adobe Photoshop CS2
Amount of Steps: 6-7
Textures Used: Yes

BEWARE: if this tut cut doesn't work, then the struggling for the past half hour went to waste =[

And now for the tutorial!

1) After adjusting your icon and cropping it, duplicate the base layer and set it to screen. Sharpen if needed =]

2) Next, time for adjustment layers! Layers -> New Adjustment Layer -> Color Balance. Use the settings in the picture below:

3) Okay open up a layer for Selective Coloring. Use the settings in the pictures below:

4) Okay, and another layer of selective coloring. This one's optional but it gives us more vibrant colors. Follow the screenies below XD

5) Okay some textures, check it out XD

I set the following texture on Linear Burn 100% and rearranged it so it looks nice. Make sure to erase any parts needed. The dotty texture is made by </div>
lifeisdolce
. It makes the icon look a bit nicer don't you think? Set it to Screen 100% and arrange where you would like it.

8 'Juno' Icons + Tutorial #2: Textures (+1 Adjustment Layer!)

Haha, okay I decided to do another tutorial since I've finally gotten organized in my laptop, okay fine it was just my textures! But I've created some new "Juno" Icons, starring Ellen Page, and a new tutorial!

So you want to do this?

1) First step, crop your image and sharpen it.

2) Then add this texture and set it Color Burn 100%. Adjust as needed.

credit for the texture goes to... I'd love to give you credit, but the name I have under the texture is 'cielogris'.

3) Yay, add time! Now these texture users I know! (lmao!)

Use this gorgeous texture, made by frictionally! Set it to Color Burn 100%.
Adjust and move it around as needed.
I put it off to the side and decided not to erase the part on Ellen's face and left it there to give it that slight color.

4) Okay now one more step. We're going to add a Brightness/Contrast layer.
You can do that by Layer -> New Adjustment Layer -> Brightness/Contrast.
Use these settings and adjust for yours: Brightness +17 / Contrast +10.

Tada! Post your icons so I can see how yours came out!

And here I go again creating another Livejournal. This is my third one just to let you know. But as for this one, I"m going to actually make an attempt to USE it. I'm guessing that I'll use it for the usual Livejournal usuals: icons.

So while I post these icons and tutorials of mine, I'm going to learn how to create a LJ layout, because this honestly is not what I'm looking for. I'm also hopeless at following LJ tutorials, but I will learn how to make the layouts.

So shall I post the first tutorial? Might not look like it, but that's Baby V. XD

Step 1.
After you’ve cropped your image, duplicate it and set it to screen. Change Opacity as needed. I set mine to 67%.

Step 2.
With the duplicated image selected, go to Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturation -> and set it so that the colors are vivid.

Step 3.
Okay, next, time for Selective Coloring. The settings for mine are:

Red: -94 | 0 | +88 | 0
Yellow: -88 | 0 | +82 | 0
Nuetrals: +76 | 0 | -79 | -32

Change as needed, we want your icon to look great!

Step 4.
I added a brush and a texture for this one. If you guys want a similar effect check out:

I used the brush just around Vanessa, and I set up the texture and erased bits of it to get it like I did (put the center in the upper left corner, and set to Color Dodge).

Step 5.
Just to make Vanessa more visible, duplicate your base layer and bring it to the top. Set it to Hard Light 71%.

Step 6.
Ok, now for the text, using a Sans Serif or a professional font (I’m using Walkway Rounded) and did two text layers, one saying ‘vanessa’ and the other ‘hudgens’. I’m assuming you know how to set up the text like I did.
