The trajectory remained positive: in the first quarter of 2024, Mexico\u2019s FDI increased by 7% compared to the same period in 2023, totaling <a href=\"https:\/\/mexiconewsdaily.com\/business\/mexico-foreign-direct-investment-record-6-months-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$31.1 billion<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of this, Baja California secured <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1023733\/mexico-baja-california-foreign-direct-investment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$1.1 billion<\/a>, ranking as the third-largest recipient of FDI in Mexico. Its capital, Tijuana, accounts for <a href=\"https:\/\/tijuanaedc.org\/pdf\/insider-report\/foreign-direct-investment-in-tijuana-september-2024-eng.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">74%<\/a> of the total state\u2019s investment. This figure puts it ahead of 26 Mexican cities, with a strong focus on the manufacturing sector.&nbsp; Even before the wave of outsourcing software development, the city received <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eleconomista.com.mx\/estados\/Tijuana-con-disponibilidad-industrial-para-atender-nearshoring-20230215-0141.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$635 million<\/a> in investment in 2022, primarily for its electrical and residential infrastructure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Continuous investment, up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economia.gob.mx\/datamexico\/es\/profile\/geo\/tijuana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$31,5 million<\/a> in international sales, and strides in automotive technology drew in the EV manufacturer Zeekr, which announced its <a href=\"https:\/\/mexicobusiness.news\/automotive\/news\/zeekr-enters-mexicos-ev-market\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">future expansion<\/a> to Tijuana. This company, however, is not the first to chart the territory of Tijuana\u2019s IT market.
