When OpenAI rolled out GPT-5.4, we made sure Abilities Bridge was ready. As of version
1.1.1, the plugin fully supports the GPT-5.4 model, making it the new default for all OpenAI-powered interactions within WordPress. If you are already using Abilities Bridge with OpenAI, the upgrade is seamless. Update the plugin and the latest model is ready to go.

What Changed
The past 24 hours brought a focused round of updates to Abilities Bridge. Here is a quick
look at what shipped.
GPT-5.4 model support is the headline. The plugin now includes full token configuration
for GPT-5.4, taking advantage of its expanded 1.05 million token input window and 128K output capacity. That is a significant jump from the previous GPT-5.2 default. Older OpenAI models remain available but are now marked as legacy, giving users a clear signal about where things are headed.

Version 1.1.0 also introduced OpenAI as a supported provider. Abilities Bridge launched
with Anthropic Claude support, and now users can choose between Claude and OpenAI models depending on their needs and existing API subscriptions. The plugin handles both providers through a unified interface, so switching between them is straightforward.
Why This Matters
WordPress plugins that integrate with AI services face a particular challenge. The models evolve quickly. A plugin that worked well with last month’s API can fall behind if it is not actively maintained. Users depend on these tools for real work, and outdated model support means degraded performance or missed capabilities.
We take that seriously. When a new model becomes available, we test it, configure the
token limits, and push an update. That commitment is not just about adding a line to a dropdown menu. It means verifying that conversations, memory storage, abilities
execution, and token calculations all work correctly with the new model parameters.
What Abilities Bridge Does
For those new to the plugin, Abilities Bridge connects AI directly to your WordPress site
through three methods: a built-in admin chat interface, Claude Desktop via MCP, or local
MCP configuration with other compatible applications. It supports persistent memory
across conversations, a 7-gate permission system for AI-callable abilities, full activity
logging, and OAuth 2.0 authentication for secure MCP connections.
Whether you are using Claude or ChatGPT, the plugin gives you granular control over what AI can and cannot do on your site.
Looking Ahead
Staying current is not a one-time effort. As both Anthropic and OpenAI continue to
release new models and capabilities, Abilities Bridge will continue to keep pace. The
goal has always been to make the connection between AI and WordPress as reliable and up to date as possible.
