Canon Resource Link: Wikia

Personality:
Kazuha is a spirited teenager. She is very confident and hard-working, but this can almost be to a fault at times. She studies Aikido and has achieved a 2-dan ranking which is in the higher of two level brackets. Heiji has said that she's worked herself so hard in this she's passed out from dehydration. She's also very stubborn and it can be hard to get her to step down or change her opinion. Kazuha won't let things get in her way when she has her mind set on something, going as far as to walk into the boy's bathroom and peer into a stall to get Heiji back to his kendo match. She's not afraid to speak her mind or confront people in most situations. She has a quick temper, though this usually comes out in a situation involving Heiji.

This isn't to say she's perpetually in a sour mood. Kazuha is usually polite around other people. After getting over her initial dislike of Ran (because she thought Heiji was secretly in a relationship with her) they became very good friends. They have been shown doing things like shopping and cooking together and they often get a lot of time to talk while the guys are off investigating cases. Kazuha clearly sees that Ran has feelings for Shinichi and tries to pushing her into confessing this whenever she sees the opportunity, unaware that he's actually Conan. She also believes that Kogoro is a great detective and tends to show him respect.

She believes in supernatural and spiritual things as well. If a demon or some other monster is being blamed as the cause for a crime she often believes it and gets very nervous. Kazuha has a lot of belief in the power of good luck charms and is known for making them. She also puts a lot of weight on what certain items symbolize and got into a fight with Heiji while they were waiting to see Conan in the hospital because she said the flowers he bought meant "beheading".

Kazuha is fairly intelligent, but not at the level of the detectives. She's able to understand most of the explanations of the cases and can chime in with things she knows because her father is a police detective and she hangs out with Heiji a lot. Kazuha also has a tendency to go off on a tangent or tell a story that the situation has reminded her of and inadvertently helps Conan and Heiji figure something out. She's also observant enough that, sometimes with a little help, she can figure out an important aspect in a case. When she was having a competition with Heiji to see who could solve a case first because the plans they had made for everyone in Osaka conflicted, she caught the basics of the first clue but got frustrated to the point of tears that she couldn't figure out what it meant. Heiji (and Conan after he caught on) ended up trying to point out the important aspects to solving it while acting ignorant of the answer. She was able to solve and explain the clue, but unfortunately other clues that had turned up while she was working on it got Heiji too caught up in explaining the case to remember that he had been trying to discretely help her.

Kazuha's family consists of just her and her parents. Her father has been shown a bit but not much interaction between them has happened and her mother has only been mentioned a handful of times. However, since he's come up in eight examples already, it's pretty important to mention the affects that Heiji Hattori has had on her. Their fathers are both high-ranking in the Osaka police department so they have been friends since childhood. She's shown with him a lot, and if they aren't together it seems they have a habit of calling each other periodically. They've actually been around each other for so long that they have a tendency to bicker and call the other an idiot.

When they were young for some reason Heiji thought they should lock themselves together with a pair of handcuffs he found but there was no key and it took a while to get them off. Kazuha thinks that was a very important experience that connected them and made matching good luck charms for them containing pieces of the handcuffs because she thinks that gives them power. She always likes to have hers with her and will check if Heiji is carrying his from time to time.

She's remained very serious about that connection in other ways. When she first met Ran and thought she was the "Kudo" Heiji kept talking about she said Ran would have to kill her before she hurt Heiji because they had been "connected by metal". That reaction also illustrates a few other important points. First of all, there's obvious jealously whenever she thinks Heiji is paying a lot of attention to other girls. It's pretty clear from this that her feelings are not that she's just like his "big sister", which is her usual (nervous) claim if anyone asks if they're a couple or if she loves him. No one else believes this except for Heiji.

Kazuha is actually very protective of him, such as in the example above. She'll do whatever she can to keep him safe but this is hindered by Heiji's tendency to tell her to stay back when he goes to investigate something. Kazuha gets annoyed when he does this; she actually really likes to watch him solving cases and especially getting to see his confident smile when he's finishing up his summations. She has been able to prove her protective nature a few times, however. Most notably, Heiji nearly fell off a cliff while they were investigating once. Thanks to her Aikido skills she was able to pull him away but the force sent her over the edge instead. Shortly after that Heiji was holding onto a branch while also trying to support her. Kazuha noticed the branch looked like it was about to snap so she tried to save him again by stabbing him in the hand with an arrow so he'd let go of her. Obviously he didn't, though.

Powers & Abilities:
Kazuha is ranked 2-dan in Aikido, which is a fairly high status. The times she's been shown using it support that she's pretty good at it. This also means she's in good physical shape. Her good luck charms also seem to work, whether it be true or happenstance. She's known for her apparent skill in this by her friends in Osaka. Very recently in the manga it was implied that she knows English because Heiji asked her what language a witness had given a statement in that she had just repeated.

What items will they be bringing with them to Discedo?
Her cellphone and the good luck charm she made that contains pieces of the handcuffs and a picture of Heiji. Shh...

Kazuha checked the time on her phone and frowned in irritation. It was getting late and Heiji and the others hadn't come back from that murder they were informed about earlier. Five more minutes and she was calling. Seriously, this was ridiculous!

At least she didn’t end up with nothing to do whenever they went to Tokyo, though. She had to admit that she was a bit grateful that Ran was basically in the same situation as her. It gave her someone to talk to, go shopping with, or just hang around. Just recently they had finished preparing some dinner, though it would probably just be the two of them if past experiences said anything. She walked briskly into the kitchen, picked up a dish, and went to set it on the table, her annoyed expression not changing any.

Ran seemed to be in high spirits though, and after they had finished laying everything out and Kazuha had gone back to glaring at her phone she suggested they just begin without the others. It took Kazuha a second to snap out of her bad mood so she could consider this. She was getting pretty hungry. Putting on a small smile, she nodded in agreement.

In fact, Kazuha found having a simple meal was very enjoyable. It almost pushed her irritation completely from her mind. She chatted with Ran about various things like school and what else they should try to do while she was still in Tokyo. But then Kazuha made a fatal flaw in maintaining her good mood. She really should have known the consequences, but she couldn't help but ask Ran if she'd heard from Kudo recently. It was just the same old answer, though. Kazuha didn't think she'd be able to put up with that if she were in her shoes.

Of course Ran picked that time to tease her about Heiji. Kazuha blushed and went tense, though before she could stammer a response her look suddenly turned to one of slight surprise. That was right, Heiji...

So can anybody tell me what's goin' on? I know I'm not home. This place is pretty creepy, actually...

[No, confident. She needed answers.] Someone just tell me where I am so I can get back ta Osaka. This has ta be some kinda mistake. I don't even remember comin' here. [Her nervousness and frustration seem to be taking over, tears forming in the corners of her eyes.] If somebody thinks this is a joke it ain't funny! I'm not stayin' here, got that?!
