It can be hard to follow someone on another blogging service, so a very kind reader helped me make a syndication feed for my Wordpress blog.

New Acrobats. :) And if you've ever been curious about pencils, I'm saving the next few pages in pencil format for portfolio examples. Here's the current page.

I am getting really tired of lj's interstitial ads jumping at out at my visitors. (I don't see them because of NoScript on Firefox.) I'm thinking about moving to another blogging service, but there's a whoooole lotta options. I'm considering Dreamwitdth, Tumblr, or Blogspot. Any thoughts?

I'm working on the next page of Acrobats but have two other projects going on, hence delays. I'm also doing much more detailed pencils for possible portfolio usage later on, so it's slowing me down. Something should be up by the end of the week.

"Magazine" might be a deceptive word, because it's more like an artbook, full of illustrations, original comics, and an artist spotlight on C. Lijewski. I can't tell you how hard Fawn must have worked on this; you really have to see it first-hand. Aside from featuring my work (which I'm not getting paid royalties on or anything, so don't get cynical!) and the beautiful presentation, I also want this to succeed because we NEED a viable way to get quality original art and comics to the audience who still wants it in print format. Go go Fixit!

Also, I forgot to mention this on my previous post, but there's a sad tale of woe behind the printing of Crown Royale. To summarize briefly: don't use Capitol Press in LA. I heard more about it from JAB in person, but you get an idea from the review.

Back from YaoiCon!

I had the best time! Every year I get to meet more cool lady artists! :D I was in the Fan Market alongside banjocatbanjo,kiwimangoodness, hamlet_machine, and queenvera. fawnfawn and junemermaid brought us cream puffs~ I also met wensleydale and ocicatsy, finally. They are very sweet and also make sexy art and comics! (They have a story in the Crown Royale anthology, too!) And I met steam_pilot and schumers, who threw paper airplanes at us and sold the Adamo Anthology. I showed horrifying furry comics to the ladies of teahousecomic, who make a beautiful erotic/romance comic, Teahouse. And I met some very sweet people who liked my work, or already knew it, which is super flattering!

Aside from this weekend, which was overtaken by convention shenanigans, Acrobats should be on time this week. In the meantime, have a couple sketches. :>

ETA: Also, JAB and I were briefly interviewed by Kyoshin Publishing at YaoiCon about self-publishing in America. It was a trip! They run the International Corner of Comiket and took some of our work to display, along with photos of us holding it. What a trip! Japan will see my comics! A little.

Took much longer than anticipated... I got a new brush. It's not nearly as good as my GOOD brushes but I go through them at such a fast rate, it's ridiculous. :(

In rec news, this is a wonderful art blog someone linked to me. (not particularly worksafe.)
I bought a print by this artist at APE. He has a wonderful style of painting. This is the print I bought, but mine is b/w with a lime background. It's on my wall. :>
Also, I did a trade with Rick Worley for comics; he was really sweet and brough other people to my table to look at my work. His comic is funny and dirty, check it out.

Crown Royale Comics Anthology

So here I am the week after I moved Acrobats updates to Fridays, and suddenly I had to work a shift on a Friday, which I usually don't. Balls. I should just change update schedules to "when life allows". However, I hope this is mitigated by the news that the Crown Royale anthology is now available for pre-order!

My dorky Little Red Riding Hood re-interpretation is the first story. It involves a flouncy, sissy wolf who wants to be tough and big and bad, but somehow it just never works out that way. Red is a fixie bike-riding hipster who acts too cool for everyone. And then they cross paths... It makes sense when you read it, okay?? Maybe.

All profits go to GLBTQI charity! :)

I'm revving up for Yaoi Con! The one thing that sold out at APE was my adult comic, so I'll have to make more copies of that covertly at Kinko's tomorrow. :>

I didn't sell as much as I might have hoped to, but I had a great time.

I also had a sudden epiphany as I sat there at the table. I want to do more freelance art work. I do! Prior bad experiences be damned! And I love comics and all, but... I want to draw illustrations, too.

I don't have specific things to link to yet, but I will have a picture in the first issue of an art/comics magazine and an illustration anthology early next year, and a fairy tale comics anthology I contributed to will be out at the end of October. And the Horace book I did with Socar is almost done. So things to spend your money on are coming soon, whoop.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by my table and to my special ladies for showing me a good time.

Acrobats will now be updated Fridays (maybe?) My schedule is all over the place with APE and Yaoi Con coming up.

I'll see some of you at APE this weekend! I got all my comics plus some stickers, magnets, and new shiny 8 x 10 prints. :)

Ack, sorry again this week. My work schedule changing has kinda messed up my flow! Acrobats will be updated tomorrow or Thursday. But I do have two pieces of news:

*My table number for Alt Press Expo is 705! I will be on the right side close to the main entrance. :D

*My application for MoCCA in NYC was processed. That was a bit of an impulse decision since I thought I wouldn't be at APE *cough* but there it is!

*I swear I need to write up Zinefest. There was too much good stuff to just say "there was good stuff", but for now, just have a pic of my haul!

(Yes, two cups of coffee on my desk there - that's just how I roll.)

*If you are in the San Francisco area, or plan on visiting, there is a cool place called the Cartoon Art Museum. It's a small place dedicated entirely to displaying comics and animation of all kinds. Their bookstore now has a section for local talent, and you can find Disconnect, Nice Guts 0, and Picnic on the Moon there! (Unless they all *gasp!* sell out ;) Right next to other awesome local artists! I updated the list of stores that stock my stuff. That tiny, tiny list... (workin' on it!)

*I will be at Alt Press Expo! They got so many applicants, they expanded the space and I got a table. I'm not sure if Socar will be with me or if I'll have it all to myself. Coming up in mid-October, wow! :D

Hi guys!

My apologies for nothing coming out of me for... what, 3 weeks now?? Oh goodness! Well, here are some good news to make up for that. Maybe.

1. The next Acrobats update should be on time, no problems!

2. SF Zinefest is this weekend! My first con since Fanime, and one I've been hugely looking forward to both dealing at and attending. Zinefest is at the SF County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park, Lincoln Way & 9th Ave, San Francisco, CA 94122. It opens to attendees at 11 am. I have a half-table (sharing with someone called "Untold Tales"): #50. It is on the same wall as the entrance, to the right. Woo!! I have stickers and magnets. :D

3. I was flagging on whether to talk about the fabulous Crown Royale Comics anthology on this account, because it is 18+ and very inappropriate, and I am a lady who tries to put on a veneer of decency. It is a sadly thin veneer - I'm too proud of my contribution to not mention it! The anthology will be debuting at Yaoi Con 2010, where I will also be dealing, along with a gaggle of fabulous ladies. Get ready for a Little Red Riding Hood like you've never seen before.

4. I may end up at Alt Press Expo after all - if I don't make it off the wait list, the lovely Fawn Lau of F*X*T Mag and Christy Lijewski of HeavyGauge.net offered me a tiny sliver of their table so I can throw my work at passers-by. That's October 16th and 17th! :>

5. Swag! I got Gorebook, which is pretty and full color!

I also got my copy of Refraction by Ink Tea, with a signed print and everything! I love the stitching on the sides - you can tell it was lovingly put together by hand.

I hope everyone is well! I'm going to be continuing work on Acrobats, as well as finishing the Horace book with Socar, and making small tweaks to my site/shop. *kisses

No page this week. I got sick and crampy at the same time and have spent nearly all of the past three days in bed. :(

I waffled a lot on this, but the comic project I've been working in tandem with Acrobats for weeks now, I'm going to just out it here after all. It's a very risque *cough* anthology, but I think it's high quality and has a lot of lovely contributors. So more on that later. :)

Also, SF Zinefest is on in one and a half weeks!! I'll be there with prints and comics! :D

My wrist has been heavily bothering me for a while now while I ink. I really hope I don't break my hand while finishing this other comic I'm doing. Pencilling is totally fine, because my hand doesn't tense up as much, so I might do just pencils/sketch comics after this. Not sure. I'm icing it every time I take a break. As soon as I finish everything aside from Acrobats, I'm taking another sabbatical.

I hope that doesn't feel like reading filler as much as it feels like drawing filler. I just wanted to put in more side characters. :<

I think... I think I'll try applying for the Prism Comics grant for LGBT comics. I'm still kinda shy with this whole, "Am I queer enough? Is my comic queer enough?" but a bunch of people have told me to stop being so paranoid and insecure that I think I could make a case for it. Still, the winning comics for the grant tend to be really REALLY GAY. Can I bring the gay?? Can I really match the awesomeness of comics like I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space? Tune in next time!

Incidentally, I pencilled this last page while house-sitting, watching the LOGO channel, which was showing movies of lesbians falling in love with women who suddenly realized they loved women, too, and it made me feel rather lonely. :(

I'm going to make stickers to sell/hand out with purchases at cons. It's going to be a colored drawing of Evelyn. I goofed around with designs and really liked the idea of him with his own hands on his head:

The last one was my favorite, so that's what I went with.

I never quite made up my mind what's inside of him - elastic like a BJD? Hardware like in a computer? Old school steampunkish cogs and gears? Who knows, who cares! I let everyone kind of interpret things however they like.

Also! I got some swag I'd ordered a while back from Jordyn Bochon!
