Title: Skye's The Limit
Characters:Wes, Wedge, Hobbie, Face
Prompts: Hidden pets, teddy bears, Allston Quotes
Word Count: 1,531
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: George Lucas owns Star Wars. Lucas is King. If he doesn't like me pilfering his characters, he can have his merchandise back.
Warning: Absurdness and non-beta'd material ahead.

A.N.: Apologies for the delay! And apologies for the lame plot :) I wanted to get more quotes in here, but I couldn't make them work for me with this idea. Also, Skye is my creation, and she's originally from an AU of the SGA 'verse. I transplanted her here because Wes, like John Sheppard before him, really needs a cat.

This was written for w_janson

Summary: Wes has lost a kitten.

The X-Wing hanger was empty, devoid of life save for the occasional beep of maintenance droids. The fighters were a forest of durasteel, standing silently in their squadron formations. To Wes Janson, pilot of the New Republic, they stood more like sentinels and he could swear that they watched him as he stood on the threshold of the entrance. Trying to shake off the unease of being stalked, he entered the hanger and began to look over, under and around each craft. The bay doors were closed, which meant that there was no way anyone or anything would have gone that way. It was a small consolation, for it meant that he could confine his search to the base.

Not that the base is any less of a hassle, he thought ruefully. Having determined that nothing was amiss around the fighters, he turned his attention to the perimeter, and all the pieces of support equipment that were tucked away. Noting nothing out of the ordinary among the larger pieces, he focused on a large supply rack near the doorway on the opposite side of the hanger from which he'd entered. A quick glance up at the shelves produced nothing, which meant there was only one other place to look. Wes dropped to his hands and knees and stuck his head under the supply rack. He visually swept the area, his sense of unease growing at the absence of his quarry. He had barely finished a sigh of defeat when his unease found a new source of power.

The words, "Nice rear, lieutenant," were followed by a familiar laugh as Wes hit his head on the shelf, the pain reminding him that he was still on the ground and partially underneath the fixture. He crawled backwards with a muttered curse and sat back on his haunches. He squinted up in indignation at the women standing over him, unable to think of anything more humiliating.

"Was that really necessary, Shalla?" he asked.

"Yes," she replied. "It’s no less true now, than it was the first time." She winked at him and started on her way; Wes could feel the colour rushing to his cheeks at the reminder of the Kettch incident, and the first time Shalla had uttered those words to him. His blush intensified as she paused on the threshold of the doorway and glanced back with an evil grin. "You do still have the cape, don’t you?"

Before Wes could do more than let his jaw drop, she was gone.

"I don’t think I’ve ever seen you blush so hard after being given such a compliment," the comment came from behind him. Wes closed his mouth and blinked as he turned to look at the speaker. Hobbie Klivian was leaning casually against the landing strut of the nearest X-Wing, hands stuffed in his pockets.

"How long have you been standing there?" Wes demanded.

"Long enough." Hobbie pushed away from the wall. "So, you and Shalla, huh?"

Wes blinked rapidly. So far, the story about his naked run through the Mon Remonda had been confined to the Wraiths, and he really didn’t want Hobbie finding out, or else the Rogues would find out about it, too. There was only one thing left to do… "Yeah, me and Shalla." …Lie.

Hobbie whistled appreciatively. "Nice. I'm going to ask you about that cape thing later, just so you know."

"Of course you are. Why not now?"

" Because you seem too preoccupied to give me a good answer; you lose something? The afore-mentioned cape, perchance?"

Wes winced. "Skye," he said simply. He stood up and brushed the dust off his knees.

Hobbie gave him a sympathetic look as the pair fell into step and left the hanger. "What about you? What brings you down here on your time off?"

Hobbie looked around to make sure there was no one within ear shot; he lowered his voice and replied, "Bamfa’s missing."

Wes raised a brow. His friend’s stuffed bantha was always accounted for in Hobbie’s room, hidden only during inspections, official or otherwise. "How did you manage to lose Bamfa?" Wes asked, keeping his own voice low.

"I don’t know. I had him when I woke up this morning, and I left him on my bed before going to the mess for breakfast. I went back to grab my datapad about ten minutes ago, and he was gone. I saw you skulking about and figured you might have something to do with it, so I followed you."

"Why would I steal Bamfa? Don't answer that," he held up a hand to forestall whatever Hobbie was going to say. "Tell you what, you help me find Skye and I’ll help you find Bamfa."

Hobbie thought about it for a moment, then nodded. "Deal."

***

Wes and Hobbie wandered the base, taking each corridor systematically and searching every public space they could easily walk into. The mess hall had been the trickiest to search covertly, since there were officers and pilots scattered around. In the end, however, Wes concluded that if Skye were hiding in the mess hall, it wouldn't have been so quiet and orderly.

Resuming their circuit through the halls, Hobbie cleared his throat. "So, uh, about that cape..."

"Do we have to do this now?"

"Yes. I want to know why Shalla is so keen on you in a cape."

Wes smiled ruefully. "You can't look dignified when you're having fun," he offered up by way of explanation.

"Right. Are you being serious, or are you just dodging the question?"

"Yes."

Hobbie snorted as they paused at a junction. Wes glanced down one of the halls thoughtfully.

"Personnel quarters this way," Hobbie noted. "Should we even bother?"

"No way for us to get inside unless you're keen on going door-to-door."

"Not really, no. I'd rather not have to explain what we're doing."

"Right, and we can only use the we're collecting for the poor excuse so many times."

"It's better than the we're filming a holovid would you like to be a star line."

"Hey, that would've worked if you'd committed to your part."

Hobbie shot Wes an exasperated look; as he opened his mouth to reply, a loud crash echoed faintly from down the hall. Only a brief look was exchanged between them before they sprinted towards to noise. Several loud thumps guided the pilots to the appropriate door – Face Loran's quarters – and Wes knocked.

"Go away!" was the reply from inside. "Or, if you're Major-rank or higher, go away Sir!"

Wes knocked again, this time adding, "Face, it's Janson. Open up!"

"Can't, it'll get away if I open the door."

"Skye," Hobbie breathed. "It has to be."

Wes nodded and pounded on the door. "Seriously, Loran, let us in, we can help you."

There was a moment of silence, and then. "Fine, but if this goes south, it's on you."

***

Wedge Antilles looked up from the datapad he'd been reading, the faint sound of something amiss outside the closed door of his office drawing his attention. He blinked, looking between the datapad and the door several times, before settling on the datapad.

"I don't want to know," he muttered softly. "I really, really don't want..."

A loud thump followed by a shout cut off Wedge's attempt at convincing himself to ignore whatever it was, and he dropped the datapad with a sigh. Knowing full well that he was going to regret it, he pushed way from the desk and crossed the room to the door and palmed it open.

He was about to step into the hall when a tiny white kitten raced by him, a stuffed bantha that was only marginally larger than she was clenched between her teeth. She skidded to a stop several feet away and glanced back at Wedge. She let out a muffled mrow, which Wedge took to mean I was never here. Behind them, from around the corner, a trio of voices could be heard, at least one of them Janson's. And if that was Janson, then Hobbie had to be one of the other two voices.

Wedge smiled. "Hi sweetie. I have a teddy bear in here that you and Bamfa can snuggle with, if you'd like? Keep that lot," he gestured towards the corner that the pilots were rapidly approaching, "guessing on your whereabouts for a while longer?"

The kitten let out another muffled mrow and backtracked to Wedge. He stood aside and she wandered into his office. Face skidded around the corner, catching sight of Wedge. The Rogues' CO shook his head in disappointment, although the effect was nearly ruined when Wes and Hobbie collided with Face.

Wedge rolled his eyes and went back to his desk, the door closing behind him with a faint hiss. He dug a slightly battered teddy bear from the closet and placed it on the chair that the kitten had appropriated. By the time he made it back to his desk and sat down, the kitten had nested herself in the arms of the bear, her paws wrapped protectively around Bamfa, and was now snoozing peacefully. Wedge picked up his datapad and settled in to finish his work.

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/432226.html.

2014 Rogues/Wraiths Fic-A-Thon

....uh, Hi?

Sorry. I've been playing elsewhere (though not to much effect in terms of consistency, big surprise).

Popping Back in to pimp this, because we only have 3 sign-ups and this should be fixed.

It's time to sign up for the NINTH Annual Rogues/Wraiths Fic-A-Thon.

Yes, Ninth. We've been doing this for 9 years, and it baffles me every year that we're still doing it. I am overjoyed, no doubt, but wow. I've been in it since the beginning, and I still look forward to it each and every year.

See, I've been absent from DW/LJ for, what, almost 6 months? But I'm back because of this Fic-A-Thon. The world would be a sorrier place with out it.

So please pimp this and go sign up!!!!

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/432115.html.

I finally figured out The Plan! and world domination can now continue on as scheduled. It was a heck of a thought-process that led me to it, but several ideas for D&D campaigns manage to get things flowing in the right direction, and suddenly I had a bit of a plot twist and A Reason. Having A Reason is very, very good.

As much as I want to marshal my thoughts and bleed them onto the page, I'm getting tired as this is when I usually sign off. I start work at 12pm tomorrow, so I'll have a bit of time to make a dent in the epic info dump that is about to commence.

I also have a short list of scenes that need to be written, so if I get stumped I can do one of those.

And hey, I'm officially half-way there! A day late, but but I'm on the back half of 50k, finally.

'S all downhill from here, baby.

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/431518.html.

Camp NaNo - Day 16

Today:

Overall:

I missed a day, ayep. I had a 10-hour shift at work, and thought it was best not to press the matter when I got home. I did look at the document, though, and upped the word count by 14 words by way of a handful of edits.

Today's word-count was courtesy of picking up where I left off last time, and then turning the conversation in to the most meta-thing I've ever written since 2011. I spent the day realizing that I really had no concrete reason for the Big Bad to be doing what he's doing. Simple world domination isn't enough. There has to be dire consequences, or else there's no point in resisting. Look at Rome, for crying out loud. They tried the world domination thing, and we got massive amounts of useful stuff out of it all; things like our modern calendar, indoor plumbing, personal hygiene...sorta. But you get my point. When Hitler tired it, there was near genocide going on, which was BAD and needed to be stopped. See the difference? Sure, Rome had the Colosseum and the war games and Christian killings, etc. but you had the entire world on Rome's side at that point, with very few exceptions. Hitler had two countries and the rest of the world beat him down.

So, me and three of my characters turned an explanation scene into a round-table discussion on what the heck is going on. We got some interesting speculation, and a couple of courses of action to take RE: research, so that will be tomorrow's work.

This is yet a second day in which I came oh-so-very-close to getting back on-par for the month, as we pause at 1,800 words shy of tonight's cumulative 25,806 requirement. (The second was Sunday, in which we stopped at 21,830, and monthly par was 22,580.)

Onward to bed, and then massive plottings and research tomorrow before we settle in to write.

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/431359.html.

Camp NaNo - Day 14

Today:

Overall:

So, when I figured it was time to call it quits for the night, I discovered that I was 30 words away from hitting a 5k day. So I wrote another paragraph and ended the scene in the middle of an intense moment. Always a risk, but it gives me a chance to recapture the mood and get sucked in again.

I found a missing scene that needed to be written, which kicked the whole thing off. Then I figured that a scene I'd written last week by hand when it got stuck in my head while I was trying to sleep, needed to be added to the document so it didn't get lost; that spawned my decision to go ahead and write this one section, since I'd been plotting it out in my head since July started. I'm at the intense moment that comes right at the tale end of it, and yes. I think I need to stop there or I'm not sleeping tonight.

That, and I have a headache trying to assert itself and I should really try and go pass out so I'm not cranky and falling over at work tomorrow.

Whew. See what taking a day off gets you?

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/430965.html.

I decided to leave it for tomorrow so I have something to jump off of when I get back into the document.

My playlist has yet to drive me crazy, and I haven't had enough repeats save for the easily recognizable themes to actually tell which track is which. I might spend a bit of time tomorrow finding one more soundtrack to add to the mix, just to switch it up a bit, get some new vibes going.

And I do believe I've reached the point of falling-over tired.

G'ni!

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/430175.html.

After my 25 minute commute took me 2 hours to complete, I was in no state to write last night. Not to mention we had no power and no Internet, so it turned into an early night.

Starting to get seriously behind, but things keep conspiring against me. In other words, business as usual :)

Tonight I decided to extend my de-stressing from last night's craziness by watching TRON, in honour of its 31st anniversary today.
Today:

Overall:

Still behind, but still not by much. 2 days, at most. This is normal for me, though my word deficit tends to grow exponentially when I'm not looking.

I've got through as much of the back-story/set-up as I can, and I can't think of anything else that needs to be addressed at this point, so I've skipped ahead to my main time-line. I'm not sure how much of this I'm going to flesh out before I time-jump again. We'll see how bored I get with the various explanations and sundry. I need to figure out timing as far as ages go for certain characters, just so I have an idea of how to be writing them. And I need to figure out when another character is going to be introduced, since on one hand she's important, and on the other, she's a throw-away character.

Either way, I'm getting into the thick of things now, and I need to pace myself and not trip over the plot. I'm a little scared of the characters taking over the story and destroying said plot, but at the same time, letting them move through the story as they will usually ends up revealing things that will surprise me, so I'm torn on the whole thing. Of course, past experience has taught me that I really have no say in the matter. My characters will hijack this story, no doubt about it. We just need to take bets on when it'll happen, not if.

Time for bed. My brain is still tired from several nights of not sleeping well, including last night, and my sleep deficit is not helping my Introvert coping skills.

See you all tomorrow :)

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/429346.html.

Got 2 scenes written, and doubled my original word count.

My scenes today were the first Scenes of Woe, in which the tragedy that my entire plot hinges upon occurs. I have a vague idea of what the central conflict is, and I have a feeling that this might be a crime/mystery novel in disguise. We'll see how it goes.

I was also able to get my church duties done in record time for tomorrow shortly after I got home, so that freed me up after dinner to write some.

Here's hoping that I can get a better chunk done tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be moving into the main time-frame of my story so I can start kicking things along. I have so many things I want to cover, but can't until I establish a bit of a back-story. I just need to tie off a loose end or six and then I can get to the good stuff :D

Crossing my fingers!

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/429291.html.

Camp NaNo - Day 5

Today:

Overall:

So I managed to get to the SCENE OF WOE upon which my entire plot hangs. And get this, my story will require NINJAS. And not in the usual, NaNo/Camp NaNo tradition of "Oh Crap I Need Moar Words What Do I Do ADD NINJAS!" either. Like, I need bona fide ninjas, people. For reals.

Today was a day off, and if I hadn't spent the morning being Cheesed-Off Introvert my word count would have been double and I'd have been back on par for the month. (There was no real reason for being Cheesed-Off Introvert outside of the fact that I finally hit Over-Socialized and Cranky-Pants at the same time, partly due to the last several days of having problems falling asleep [stupid weather] and just general retail-worker stimuli [stupid retail]. Have no fear :) This was simply me cramming two days of Introvert therapy into a single day.)

Also, I would have had more words if I didn't spend about an hour trying to figure out an antithesis symbol for the Trinity Knot so I could give my ninjas a logo. (See? Bona fide ninjas always have logos.)

Time to call it a night, even though I could probably keep writing. Unfortunately the next scene is a heavy one, and while I could start it, I would quickly get annoyed and then my brain would hit overtired. With work and stuff looming on the morrow, calling it a night is the best thing, I think.

Hopefully my plotting thinky-thots don't keep me up until the wee hours again.

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/428949.html.

I needed a handful of names and thankfully I still had some to appropriate from my previous world-building, along with one or two characters that had yet to be reassigned in this version of the tale.

Happy July 4th to all my American friends and family.

Catch you tomorrow :)

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/428682.html.

Camp NaNo - Day 3

Today:

Overall:

I got to leave work just after 6pm today, but due to foolishness last night that resulted in my not falling asleep until 3:30am-ish, I was running a sleep deficit all day and thus had to allow my brain faffing time after dinner before I settled in to write. I could probably push it and snag another 300 words to break 1k today, but I'd rather not. Gonna call it a night and see what I can do before work tomorrow morning <strike>and not watch Dr. Who</strike>.

Besides, I'm not quite sure what my next scene should be, so this will give me a chance to ruminate.

I’m still insanely excited about this story, despite knowing how much I’m already going to have to fix. Things are falling into place better this time around, with this particular world and these particular characters, which is nice. Odd, but nice.

The life of a writer. Sigh.

:D

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/428289.html.

I was only supposed to work until 6pm tonight, but we got a fairly large order in today that didn't get to putting-crap-away stage until about 5:30pm, and then it got stupid busy. By the time it died down, it was 7:45pm and I saw no point in leaving. So I stayed.

We'll try this ending-shift-at-6pm thing again tomorrow.

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/428152.html.

Home Again.

I forgot to post 2 and a half weeks ago that I had arrived safely. Those that I've been in-touch with know that I came home to two weeks of emotional hell, and with my introvert-sensibilities already well and truly tweaked after being in close-quarters with micro-managing family members for 20 days, I pretty much stayed hidden from everything.

I'm almost nearly ready to resurface for good. I just need to get certain affairs in order before I venture forth and tackle all things internet-y.

But I just wanted to take a moment from my Dr. Who-watching, grilled-cheese-eating, DQ-indulging mental vacation to say that yes, I am still alive and back on Canadian soil.

And I just had my name and text read out on a major radio station, so I'm pretty giddy right now.

Then again, that could just be the residual slushie high talking.

Ah well.

Going to bed :p

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/427643.html.

Checking In

So, we made it to Rome safely.

I went almost 36 hours without anything resembling sleep and made up for it a bit last night.

But I'm here, in my ancestral home.

My aunt, uncle, their two friends, my grandmother and I did a whirlwind trip yesterday, hitting up a couple of people's homes for various meals.

Made it bed by midnight local-time, and I'm still wiped.

Today we went to the cemetary to do the rounds, and it's the first time that I've seen any of it. When I was here 23 years ago, my grandparents never took me. So I got to see the family crypts (yes, plural; 1 for my grandmother's family, the other for my grandfather's), and managed to keep it together when I saw my grandfather's picture.

Sigh. A handful and a half of names I folks I knew and so many many more that I know only from stories.

The rest of the day was lunch, gelato, and then a walk down to the mall to grab an SD card for my camera (I had taken it out of my camera to transfer some pics on Monday and I foolishly forgot to put it back in, even after my dad asked me if I had it. Guess my feeling of having forgotten something wasn't unfounded after all :p) and pick up a SIM card for my iThing. It's still going to take about 48 hours to activate, but still. I'll be able to Tweet and post candids to FB/Twitpic, etc.

Right now we're on some down-time; in about an hour we're heading to the hotel my aunt and uncle are staying at for my Uncle's birthday party. The four of them head out to Venice and Florence in the morning, and I'm going to hangout 'round the homestead with my grandmother. Which is fine. As much as I would love to go to Venice, I'm actually quite content to exhaust the entirity of Monterotondo because Reasons.

Plus there may be a trip to Rome at some point in the next 4 days, but when my aunt and uncle come back, the 5 of us (them, their buddies, and me) are going to tear up Rome.

At that point I will have the pics that I have been planning for the last sevearal weeks, and y'all will get to see my first attempt at costuming for a plushie.

Anyhow, my battery's running low. I will check in again at some point :)

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/427326.html.

Rogues/Wraiths Fic-A-Thon 2013

Title: The Tuxedo Incident
Characters:Wes, Wedge, Hobbie, Luke, Han
Prompts: Popcorn, New Shoes, Medical Droids
Word Count: 1,142
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: George Lucas owns Star Wars. Lucas is King. If he doesn't like me pilfering his characters, he can have his merchandise back.
Warning: Absurdness and non-beta'd material ahead.

Summary: Wes and Hobbie: The Early Years. That's all I'm saying.

Author Note: These prompts spawned the setting for this after about 5 minutes of getting them. I mess with the timing of events a bit, but hey. Everyone likes a bit of fluidity to their space-time.

This one goes out to bitwhizzle. I did what I could :)

-----

"This is nice," Hobbie said, contemplating a handful of popped maize.

"I told you so," Wes replied around a mouthful of the treat.

The silence that fell between them was filled only by the crunch of the snack and the quiet drone of medical equipment. Wes and Hobbie had become friends during the days leading up to the Battle of Yavin, having been bunkmates with a shared illness that had kept them both from the battle. Together they moved through the strange world of survivor's guilt, as both pilots felt terrible for not being able to be with their friends and fellow Rebels during such a decisive and important battle.

They had bonded over shared memories, and several shared interests; but most of all, Wes found in Hobbie someone who would entertain his wild and crazy schemes and ideas, and Hobbie had found in Wes someone who would put up with his morose nature.

When Rogue Squadron was formed, and the pair had been recruited, Luke quickly discovered that keeping Wes and Hobbie together helped in maintaining some semblance of order. Although the pair sometimes needed to be split up to better serve a mission's needs, which ended up bringing Wedge Antilles and Tycho Celchu into the fold, the quintet quickly became the backbone of the squad. The five pilots had become good friends, though none could compare to the friendship that was shared by Wes and Hobbie. It was rumoured that the two had even shared a pair of new combat boots because Luke couldn't take their "No, no, you take them, I insist" round-robin.

After the defeat at Chandrila, which had followed closely on the heels of Yavin, and the seemingly countless other missions that came after it, the entire Rebel Alliance had relocated to the ice-world, Hoth; they had only been on-planet for several months, but the chatter around base seemed to indicate that they'd be moving soon. The count on how long it would take the Empire to track them down had been reset in the betting pools, and it was guaranteed that the higher-ups were expecting at least a Star Destroyer or two to drop out of hyperspace onto their heads any day now.

This information came by the lucky discovery by Han Solo, during his and Luke's most recent recon of the planet. Of course, Han returned to base without Skywalker in tow, and a rescue-op was quickly formed.

This was how the two pilots came to be sitting in Echo Base's medical ward, eating popped maize. In front of them bobbed Luke, currently tinted pink by the bacta filling the tank. Neither Wes nor Hobbie were injured, however, and the visit was more of a social call for their currently unconscious CO. At length, Hobbie finally spoke.

"Do you do this every time I..."

"Yes," Wes responded, cutting him off.

"You're a bastard," Hobbie declared matter-of-factly. He tossed another handful of maize into his mouth and crunched thoughtfully.

"You're just figuring this out?" Wes asked, raising a brow.

"No, just restating fact."

"Okay then."

Silence fell again, but not for long. "So," Hobbie said, "what do you think happened to him?"

"I have a theory."

"You usually do."

"If you don't want to hear it..." Wes trailed off with a vague hand gesture.

"No, no. Please. By all means. Regale me."

"He was dragged half-way across the tundra and then mauled by his tauntaun."

Hobbie blinked. "Why on earth would his tauntaun do that?"

"How should I know? We just showed up on this planet and started putting them into service. I know I'd be pissed if someone did that to me."

"Isn't that why we're fighting this rebellion in the first place?" Hobbie asked. "Because Imperials plopped down on our planets and pressed us into service for them?"

"I suppose so." Wes looked at the bacta tank thoughtfully. The moment had grown too heavy for him, so he brushed his hands off and started to gather his things. Hobbie watched him for a moment or two.

"Where are you going?"

"Once again, you've managed to kill the mood. I'm going to resuscitate it."

Hobbie's eyes went wide as he caught the gleam in his friend's eye. "Oh no. No, no, no. I'm not doing..."

"You don't even know what it is yet." Wes pouted.

"I don't have to know what it is to know that we're going to get..."

"We're not going to get into trouble, because we're not going to get caught."

Hobbie sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "That's what you said last time."

**

Wedge was walking down the hall towards the medical bay when he heard a string of Corellian expletives ricochet off the hard-packed snow. The young pilot slowed as Captain Solo exploded into the hallway from the med bay, anger playing over his features. When he saw Wedge, the younger pilot stopped in his tracks, and waited to see what would happen.

Solo stalked towards Wedge until he was a foot away. "Where. Are. They?" he demanded through clenched teeth.

"Where are who?" Wedge asked, eyebrows raising in curiosity. He felt a pang of sympathy for whomever had incurred the wrath of the good captain.

"Janson and Klivian. Med droids said they were the last ones to leave the bay. Where are they?"

The sympathy that had been blossoming within Wedge's breast popped and fizzled into nothingness at the mention of Wes and Hobbie. He shrugged helplessly. "I have no idea. You know how good they are at hiding, especially when they don't want to be found."

Solo growled and pushed past the pilot and continued his hunt for the two trouble-makers. Wedge watched until the captain had disappeared around a corner, then turned on his heel and jogged the rest of the way to the med bay.

He came to a stop just inside the threshold as his jaw dropped. He rubbed at his eyes and peered at the sight before him: Luke's bacta tank was no longer the pristine tube of glass. Wes and Hobbie had used...something, Wedge couldn't tell what it was and he frankly didn't want to know...to draw a tuxedo on the glass to cover up much of Luke's body. They had managed to incorporate the medical equipment that covered Luke's body into the suit's design, and the effect was remarkable to say the least.

Wedge facepalmed; if Wes and Hobbie survived Solo's wrath at the harmless prank, he'd congratulate them on their artistic flair and suggest they change occupations from fighter pilots to clothing designers. With a sigh and trying hard to suppress a grin, Wedge set out to get the tank cleaned off before Solo got back. He looked forward to hearing Wes and Hobbie's side of the story someday, and filed the prank away in his memory for future reference.

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/427122.html.

For the Record

Research paper: 11 pages, including cover page and bibliography. To date, my longest bibliography by far.

Book Review: 5 pages, including cover page.

So that's 2 pages short on the actual review requirements, and right at the lower range for the research paper.

For starting both today, and not even having read the entire book, I say it's pretty damned impressive.

My paper is the sloppiest thing I have ever written and it only got a single editorial pass, and the book review could have been made to page-requirements if I'd put in more effort in the summary for the second half of the book.

At this point, I don't care. They were due today, I did absolutely no faffing save for right after I woke up, and whatever surrounded my lunch break, but my biggest win is the no faffing and not totally freaking out over the whole thing.

Got a bit confused on all my sources and what to use for where, but I used what was needed, and was able to get some nice quotes into it, so there is that.

The best part is I still have enough time now to do my Rogues/Wraiths assignment, finish Timmy's costumes, and make a final packing list for my trip.

Now I get to have ALL my anxiety shift over to said trip.

Italy, or bust?

I suppose so.

Bring it.

This entry was also posted at http://obiwanken5.dreamwidth.org/426284.html.

This Week, At a Glance
