Camp NaNo - Day 16
Today:
Overall:
I missed a day, ayep. I had a 10-hour shift at work, and thought it was best not to press the matter when I got home. I did look at the document, though, and upped the word count by 14 words by way of a handful of edits.
Today's word-count was courtesy of picking up where I left off last time, and then turning the conversation in to the most meta-thing I've ever written since 2011. I spent the day realizing that I really had no concrete reason for the Big Bad to be doing what he's doing. Simple world domination isn't enough. There has to be dire consequences, or else there's no point in resisting. Look at Rome, for crying out loud. They tried the world domination thing, and we got massive amounts of useful stuff out of it all; things like our modern calendar, indoor plumbing, personal hygiene...sorta. But you get my point. When Hitler tired it, there was near genocide going on, which was BAD and needed to be stopped. See the difference? Sure, Rome had the Colosseum and the war games and Christian killings, etc. but you had the entire world on Rome's side at that point, with very few exceptions. Hitler had two countries and the rest of the world beat him down.
So, me and three of my characters turned an explanation scene into a round-table discussion on what the heck is going on. We got some interesting speculation, and a couple of courses of action to take RE: research, so that will be tomorrow's work.
This is yet a second day in which I came oh-so-very-close to getting back on-par for the month, as we pause at 1,800 words shy of tonight's cumulative 25,806 requirement. (The second was Sunday, in which we stopped at 21,830, and monthly par was 22,580.)
Onward to bed, and then massive plottings and research tomorrow before we settle in to write.
