WordPress Maintenance FAQs

(Transition from David Kerr Design to AgaveWeb)

1. Why is my maintenance plan changing?

David Kerr is transitioning out of WordPress maintenance and design towards a full, well-deserved retirement. Starting with your next maintenance plan renewal, AgaveWeb, LLC ( Gwyn ) will be your direct point of contact for updates, monitoring, and support.

2. Will my website still be protected the same way?

Yes. Your site will continue to receive regular updates, daily monitoring, cloud backups, and monthly status reports. The process is very similar to before — but now we’re using WP Umbrella (instead of ManageWP). WP Umbrella offers better management flows, faster alerts, and more streamlined reporting, so you’ll see improvements in how your site is maintained.

3. Is the price changing?

The yearly fee is $490, which includes all the services described in the plan. If additional work is ever needed beyond regular maintenance, that’s billed at $150/hour, with an estimate provided in advance. Discounts are available for maintaining multiple sites:

  • 1st site: $490 / year
  • 2nd site: $392 / year ( 20% off )
  • 3rd or more site: $343/yr ( 30% off )

4. What happens if my site gets hacked?

By close monitoring and timely updates to all site software we’re doing all we can to protect your website, but if the unlikely happens, I’ll restore your site from a recent backup at no extra charge. More in-depth recovery steps (like log investigations or password audits) are not included in the base plan, but I’ll let you know what’s needed before proceeding.

5. Are there contracts or long commitments?

No long-term contract is required. Plans are billed annually, but you may cancel at any time. If you cancel early, you’ll receive a pro-rated refund for the unused months. You can preview the contract here.

6. How do I renew?

When your current plan comes up for renewal, you’ll simply renew directly with AgaveWeb. There is no automatic rollover; it’s a manual, year-to-year renewal so you’re always in control. You’ll receive an invoice for the full year of maintenance, a link to E-sign the contract and you’ll be all set.

7. What if I need changes to my site beyond maintenance?

Design updates, content editing, new functionality, or custom coding are outside the scope of the maintenance plan. I’ll provide an estimate at $150 /hour, and you’ll approve before any work begins. Previously David Kerr was your go-between, once you’re on the AgaveWeb plan, Gwyn will be your point of contact.

8. Who do I contact for help now?

For all support, questions, or renewal matters, you can contact:

Gwyn Fisher / AgaveWeb, LLC

[email protected]

9. What’s different from David’s plan?

The service level is very similar: backups, updates, monitoring, and reports. Gwyn has been maintaining your site already under David Kerr’s auspices. The main differences are:

  • Billing is now through AgaveWeb, not David Kerr Design.
  • All support is direct with AgaveWeb.
  • The plan renews annually with AgaveWeb directly.
  • WP Umbrella replaces ManageWP, providing better management flows, more efficient monitoring, and more detailed reporting.
  • Any extra work is quoted before starting by AgaveWeb.

10. Do I have to renew the plan?

Not at all. If you decide not to renew, just let me and David know before your contract end date. Your current plan will simply conclude at that time, and monitoring, updates, and reporting will stop. Many clients choose ongoing maintenance for peace of mind, since regular updates, monitoring, and off-site backups help keep WordPress sites secure and easier to recover if something unexpected happens. That said, the choice is entirely yours, and we’re happy to support whatever option works best for you.
