- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2023Color: Grey/Desert BlushSize: Regular/SmallVerified PurchaseTalk about an absolute game changer. Wow, and I truly mean wow. Saalt, thank you. I bought the two pack of the regular and small cup. Given my flow is as heavy as it is I was really uncertain as to whether this was going to be my finally switching out from using tampons. I couldn't do it anymore due to the internal physical pain that the cotton fabric was causing me since I was in need of ultra tampons for the majority of my cycle. With that in mind, I was going through an ultra tampon every two-four hours depending on how much my uterus hated me that particular month. I had originally considered going with a different brand with a larger cup size for that reason.
Turns out it wasn't even necessary. I've been using the large cup for twenty-four hours now and I haven't had a single issue that any of the negative reviews state. In fact, all I have to say is positive. For starters, I can go for up to about six hours before I feel like I have to empty the cup. It definitely takes some getting used to as far as insertion and removal, but once you get the hang of it, you're golden! I played cards against humanity last night with my nephew and laughed so hard I felt the cup flex a lot like it was breathing and thought I might blow it right out (which had me laughing harder and no, I didn't share that with him lol), but it stayed in place and worked perfectly.
Last night was my first night using the cup and while, yes, I should have probably emptied prior to going to bed I didn't and had zero issues. We're talking TEN hours with a flow that typically uses ultra absorbency tampons (granted I was stationary), and no leaks at all. I'm totally in awe of what this product has done for me.
I haven't used the small cup yet, but as for the regular you know it's there. It isn't like you insert and forget which is a good thing. Since TSS is an issue you WANT to know it's there. At first, I noticed that I felt like I needed to urinate after it was in, but after a few hours of wear that feeling stopped. The sensation takes a little bit to get used to, but it doesn't have that abrasive friction and constant irritation that I was getting from tampons. Nobody needs that. Why do we still make them?
If you're having trouble with insertion and removal there's plenty of helpful videos on YouTube and QandA's on Google. If you're new to the cup or considering, this is worth the investment. I'm twenty-four hours in and refuse to go back to tampons. Saalt makes a wonderful product and I'll be singing their praises to whomever is willing to listen. Do yourself a favor and get it. It's worth the investment and money you'll save as well as cutting back on unnecessary pain associated with tampon use.
Update: I switched to the small cup later on in the evening of day two. It was harder to insert the cup and as it turns out, I wasn't bleeding as heavy (keep this in mind for later). Easier time overall using the small cup and also didn't have leaking issues.
Emptied each time I went to the bathroom so say... Every four to six hours or so. I was about 60 hours or so into my cycle or about two and a half days when I noticed there wasn't really anything to empty. I figured hey, probably due to gravity and the fact that I had been lying down using a heating pad (again, back problems *cough, cough, old*) and nothing really moved down that way. I even wiped and noticed nothing. Ok, weird. It happens. Roughly another six or more hours later and I use the bathroom again (it's hot as hell, I'm drinking a lot of water, don't judge me) and I reach in, break the suction and go to empty... Nothing. There's nothing at all to empty. Confused now, and assuming what I was hoping to be true had just happened, I went on the internet and discovered a few blerbs on Google and then came across an entire article by Vice. There's an entire website dedicated to cups called Put A Cup In It. I'm stating these things because there's a physical effect to using a cup. Not only did I just have the least painful period of my life, but I also just had the shortest. I just had a period that lasted about two and a half days. This happens to 53% of women that switch to using the cup. It's a completely understudied phenomenon and it's a shame it isn't more widely known for all of woman kind. It takes getting used to, but it's so worth it. If I had known I'd be in less pain every month and bleed for WAY fewer days I would have switch such a long time ago. Make the switch and liberate yourself.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2020Color: Grey/Desert BlushSize: Regular/SmallVerified PurchaseAfter years of misery I finally decided to give period discs and cups a try. After two babies I can’t tolerate a tampon, they feel like they are stabbing me, and I leak around them; and pads leave my skin feeling raw by the end of my period week. And I leak around them half the time anyway, even wearing extra long overnight pads during the day. And I don’t even have an overly heavy flow.
I tried flex discs first. They were very comfortable and I had noticeably less cramping, but I kept having leaks, and they would need adjusting all the time during the day. When they were in place, I couldn’t tell they were there- but I knew immediately if they migrated. And my God, I could never find a way to take them out without it being a bloodbath. And they were disposable, so I had to keep shelling out money, and then I was putting more plastic in landfills. AND I still needed to wear a liner or pad anyway. I gave it five months, but then I called the experiment a bust. I resigned myself to pads thinking that I f tampons were too uncomfortable then a menstrual cup would be, too. But friends kept telling me to try one.
There’s a website www.putacupinit.com that goes over like every product out there and the quiz they have to help suggest the right product pointed me to the Saalt Soft Cup.
So far, I REALLY like it. I got through a day at home, a day at work (12 hour shift as a nurse in a busy ER), and two sleeps -and between the Saalt and Bambody period underwear (HIGHLY. RECOMMEND.)- NO LEAKS on my clothes or sheets, and no raw skin from pads.
-I can feel the cup, but it is infinitely more comfortable than a tampon. I’m aware it’s there but I can tune the sensation of it being there out easily. It doesn’t feel like it’s stabbing me the way a tampon does. I have had to adjust it a bit a couple of times, but it’s mush easier to do with the cup than the disc, and MUCH less messy when it happens.
-It was easy to insert correctly from the start. The instructions are clear, and I got it right the first try.
-I have had scant leaking around it, unlike the flex disc that leaked all the time. I would almost be willing to wear it with regular underwear, but the thought of an accident doesn’t seem worth it when the Bambody underwear are so comfy.
-When it is time to remove and reinsert the cup, it is SO MUCH LESS MESSY than the disc. I never once managed to remove a disc without getting blood all over myself. And the toilet. And occasionally the floor. It was insane. Twice I’ve been mess free with the cup, and the other times the amount of blood spillage was minimal.
-The only area the flex disc beats the Saalt is that you can still have sex while wearing the disc, but not while wearing the cup. For me, this isn’t a deal breaker. And you can always keep a stock of discs just for period sex if you want.
-So far I’ve only worn the larger of the two cups, since I’m just starting my cycle. If for some reason the lighter cup is a problem I will update, but worst case, I wear only the large and spent a little more on the two pack than necessary. I’m saving a ton over the life of the cup by not buying disposable products. I’m nearly 40, and the website estimates I will save nearly $1300 by switching. Imagine if I had started younger!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2025Color: Grey/Desert BlushSize: Regular/SmallVerified PurchaseUPDATE: bought a new one which arrived in perfect condition and had the correct bags. I also reached out to Saalt customer service who responded very quickly and compassionately to my inquiry about the bags and provided information on how to get them. If you got the cotton bags just hit them up and they will tell you what to do. They temporarily ran out of their classic colorful bags. The media could not be loaded.
The "regular" one is a little difficult to work with. It's slightly bulbous (wider than a diva cup) so it's kind of hard to not feel the pressure from inside. Is it unbearable? No but added discomfort during the menstrual cycle can be a tough thing to excuse at times. Nonetheless it is a very good cup in terms of functionality, cleanliness, and quality. 4 stars for it.
The small cup however?? 5 STARS. It's so comfortable you cannot feel it, and as someone with a sensitive body it does not hurt neither on insertion nor removal. It's very nice and soft and yet it forms a perfect seal with your body once you get it open. I tested it in my home by wearing white underpants and no liner. No leakage, no spots, no stains, nothing. I absolutely love the small one and recommend it for those who are sensitive to width or pressure. In the video I am basically just opening and closing my hand. I hardly have to apply any pressure to squeeze it.
It arrived open and also does not have the storage bags as advertised. They were cheap and thin unbleached cotton pouches. It looks like someone tampered with mine so I have to send it back for personal safety. If the seller is of assistance I'll update the review with the true product

Rachele BentivegnaReviewed in Italy on January 24, 20245.0 out of 5 stars Soddisfatta, facile da usare!
Consiglio a tutte. Mai più senza.
VanessaReviewed in Germany on December 23, 20233.0 out of 5 stars My favorite cup so far, only..
Color: Grey/Desert BlushSize: Regular/SmallVerified PurchaseI love these salt cups, only I’ve purchased the set three times already and the smaller size always tears when I am pulling out after 3-6 months of having it.
I am gentle of course however I haven’t had this issue with any other cup.
I’ve moved on to a more durable one which works although I wish I could keep using the Saalt ones due to softness, shape and aesthetic. If they improved the end I would recommend to everyone.

Tessa en MamaReviewed in the Netherlands on August 11, 20225.0 out of 5 stars Het is even wennen hoe je de menstruatiecup moet gebruiken.

ClaraReviewed in the United Kingdom on March 22, 20215.0 out of 5 stars Just perfect!
Color: Grey/Desert BlushSize: Regular/SmallVerified PurchaseOk so this was not the first menstrual cup I had tried. I had tried a Luna or something a few years ago but it was so uncomfortable it ended up in the bin 😭 Having already wasted one, for my next purchase I was very careful to look for the very best soft option I could afford, where previous reviewers had specified comfort, and Saalt was it. I bought the soft version double pack with two sizes so I could be sure one would fit. I just want to say I made the BEST decision. Putting it in first time wasn’t too hard, some people use lube but I was ok without. You have to fold it to insert it. It didn’t unfold or pop out to cup shape immediately and I did have an uncomfortable minute or two trying to sort this out but in the end I gave up and it just sorted itself out when I stood up. Slept a good nights sleep, got up, checked emails did a bunch of other stuff and only when my 12 hour timer wen5 off remembered I had it in. That’s how comfy and safe it was. So much better than a tampon. When it comes to emptying it, you need to be careful. I’m heavy and there was a lot...I wouldn’t do it in a bathroom at work let’s just say, it can get a bit messy. But the great thing is, you wouldn’t need to. If you put it in the morning, it’ll take you through 5he day. 5 mins after you get home, empty, rinse reinsert and you’re good to the next morning. I’m so glad I found this! It MUST be healthier and more hygienic than sanitary towels or tampons and it’s more sustainable too. I have some eco lilley reusable pads, bought as a back up, but I suspect I’ll only use them in emergencies now. One thing I did want to add, I usually have a lot of period pain, which tampons made all the worse...the soft Saalt cup not only didn’t cause pain, but I think it’s eased it a bit. People also complain about cups pressing on the bladder, making you feel like you need to wee; this didn’t at all. Just so comfy! I wish these had been out when I was 12! Get the two pack with different sizes. It’s likely both will fit but one might be more comfy than the other. But then you’ll be sure of a good fit and an acceptable back up. I’m certainly pleased I got the soft duo. Saalt is also a great company to support as they’re giving these to girls in developing countries, which helps them enormously!
