Casting Skins Gen. 3

Well it looks like LJ Scrapbook is being wonky. *waits for it to be fixed*

Casting Generation 3 of Skins

Made for picspammy.

Even though I know Skins likes casting unknowns, I decided to cast Generation 3. Just pretend all the actors are British.

Let's get some things straight: I love Skins--it's one of my favorite tv shows. I enjoy how it takes stereotypes and let them play in totally out-of-this-world situations. I love the relationships between characters, some of which are my favorite ever. So this picspam isn't a criticism of Skins (or, well, maybe it is). :P You have to admit Skins has an at least kind of vague template for its characters.

01. Aaron Johnson as The alpha, who's kind of a douche but people are drawn to him/her anyway. Beneath his/her's cold and manipulating exterior is just someone who wants love and acceptance.

I first saw Aaron in The Illusionist and was like, damn! The alpha has to be hot, but also have a sort of rigid, roughness to him. I really feel like he can act the douche and the sensitive-on-the-inside guy.

02. Talulah Riley as The alpha's best friend, who's socially awkward and a walkover. Throughout the series, s/he finds her/himself and grows into a confident, strong person.

Talulah in the roles of Mary Bennet and Annabelle Fritton really show she can portray vulnerability. However, she can also show that she can kick ass. I liked the idea of having a boy/girl friendship vs. the same-sex ones we saw with Tony/Sid and Effy/Pandora. I don't know if it was my unconscience or not doing this, but my Owen and Lila shipping from Nearly Famous must have carried through. However, I do not want her and the alpha to get together.

03. Rooney Mara as The straight (wo)man, who has morals and is responsible. During the series, s/he becomes unhinged and finally lets loose.

I haven't actually ever seen Rooney in action, but I randomly decided to look through her fansite and she looks like she has a good head on her shoulders.

04. Imogen Poots as The Manic Pixie Dream Girl (or guy) that every guy wants to break his heart and every girl wants to be.

Look at her name. Look at her face. This girl screams whimsical, does she not?

05. Xavier Samuel as The Token Gay Kid who spends the series trying to make his/her loved ones (or him/herself) accept him/her for who s/he is.

I randomly stumbled on his fansite, and I fell in love ... with his face. I know nothing of his acting talent, although his wikipedia page says he's good, but I really liked him and wanted to put him in this picspam.

06. Katerina Graham as The Token Black Kid that the writers try not to make the Token Black Kid by giving him/her an incredibly amazing storyline (but in the end they play up the stereotypes anyway).

I fucking love her! Jal is in the top 3 of my favorite Skins characters, and if I casted the American version of Gen. 1 I would pick Katerina because she embodies that strong, won't-take-your-shit, but is also very emotional character.

07. Alex Pettyfer as The strong, openly confident, and sexual guy/girl who gets everything but is insecure on the inside.

This was also a purely superficial casting, although I've seen Alex on camera.

08. Juno Temple as The party animal/wild child/budding sociopath who sleeps around a lot, but is not as one-dimensional as s/he seems.

In all of the characters I've seen Juno portray, she's always been a little crazy. Maybe it's the hair.

09. Olly Alexander as The Comic Relief who the writers try to give a storyline ... actually, no, they don't try.

He's adorable, isn't he? I feel like he'd be such fun to be around.

Spoilers for Being Human, Battlestar Galactica, Chuck, Dollhouse, Gossip Girl, Kings, Merlin, North & South, Pride & Prejudice, Skins, Veronica Mars, Firefly, Lord of the Rings, Misfits, and Mad Men.

This was the first scene of Being Human Series Two that made me cry. It was so heartbreaking. George was such an ass beforehand and I was upset with him, but this scene erased all of that.

Mitchell: George do you wanna watch The Real Hustle?
George: Oh I would really like that Mitchell. [to Annie] Women - think you're such authorities, like the way you deal with emotion is the only way.
Mitchell: It's not on!
George: Er, Yeah it is, it's on at 10:30.
Mitchell: No they moved it.
George: They--what?! No, you're kidding me?!
Mitchell: Oh I don't believe it!
George: No I was looking forward to that.
Mitchell: 10:30 Thursdays; that's 'Real Hustle time'. A fucking child knows that!
George: Could I just not have one good thing in my life...?
Mitchell: It just drives me insane when they move things around!
George: Don't I deserve it, don't I deserve one bloody crumb of happiness?
Mitchell: This is so ... what, so we're supposed to check every week! Like we don't have anything else to do! Is it our responsibility? Why's it down to us?!
George: I saw a preview, they were going to do a con about cashpoints.
Mitchell: Really? [George nods] I would have loved that. You bastards! Argh! [Mitchell walks into the kitchen as George sobs and Annie is incredulous. Mitchell walks back wearing rubber gloves.] There, I'll do the washing-up! Is everyone happy now?

When I first saw this, I didn't understand what was happening. It was so funny and my stomach nearly exploded from laughing so hard.

I was kind of surprised at how much I liked George and Nina this series, as I didn't like them last series. However, I was definitely rooting for them in the end. And Nina was so badass in the last episode.

Who didn't sob at this scene? I think this was the closure Annie needed (not that messed up Owen thing) and a real breakthrough for her character.

George: What happens now, Mitchell? What do we do?
Mitchell: We're going to get her back.

This scene was so heartbreaking. I cannot wait for the third series because I need my OTP to be reunited.

I had just started watching BSG (I completed the first season in a couple days, seriously. My first ship was Helo and Sharon. I was curious to see how they would do the big reveal, and both actors were so good in this scene.

I'm a huge fan of Trisha Helfer and Grace Park, and I wish they had more scenes together in BSG. The "awakening" for these two was so empowering.

This scene spooked the shit out of me, seriously. But it was so beautifully done.

Kara: Today is the first day of the rest of your life, Lee.

To be honest, I didn't like Lee at all. Fat!Apollo was the most hilarious thing to me. But when Lee turned around and she had disappeared, ... and the look on his face ... it broke my heart.

I love the relationship the Chuck characters have with each other. When Casey decided to join them, it made me feel so giddy. *loves friendship*

Woody: Why are you letting Sam Kinison and an Indian lesbian wreck your wedding?

JEFFSTER!!! Oh my gosh, everyone needs to youtube this now. Watch it now, starting at 35 seconds.

I saw this scene as a culmination of everything in the series so far, and I loved it.

I always thought Bryce and Chuck's relationship would be important later on in the series. When Bryce died, I cried inside because it was just so sad.

Adele and Topher were two of my most favorite characters in Dollhouse and their relationship was so well developed. This scene where he breaks down killed me.

I cannot believe these two got a happy ending. Joss Whedon must have been pretty happy that day, haha. But yes, Sierra and Victor's relationship was so lovely to me and this scene, where they were both entering into a war they thought they wouldn't survive, was so simple and wonderful.

I was rooting so much for Saunders and Boyd, and their ending was quite frustrating for me.

Zone: Having second thoughts?
Caroline: No way. I'm the lucky one. I get to start over.

Okay, first, what in the world happened to Caroline? I have no idea where she went after Isis got her body back. The last second with Topher, where he goes "huh?" and almost smiles while he regards the "To Remember" board, was so frustrating and well-done. I have no idea what was on his mind, and I hate that Joss Whedon didn't let us know. :/

Blair: Three words, eight letters, say it, ... and I'm yours.
Blair and Chuck forever! I really thought they weren't going to get back together after the previous season's finale, but this scene showed me the writers were planning on keeping them around for a while.

I am a Blair and Chuck shipper, but Blair and Nate was my first GG couple. Nate's a great guy and this scene was really touching. I squealed a bit in glee when Blair sees Nate and he turns around to smile at her.

Kings was such a smart and complex show. NBC really owed it another few episodes, at least, to be explored. Instead of ending how it should have, the finale was rushed. This early scene in the series was so eerie and beautiful.

Rose: Any moment, the king will walk through the door. [Outside, horns blast.] Ah, the king. The king!

Jack: I didn't want it to be this way, but we're here now. I take my place. His place. As you've always said Mother, many times, the people must see us be us. Even when we're not. We must be a family now.
---
David: It's true then. He [Silas]'s dead.
Jack: Mourn if you must. ... I was worried you wouldn't make this.
David: It was you. You saved my life. Why?
Jack: We're rid of the poison ... my father is gone it's my turn to rule. And I want to do it well. I need someone good around here. I will try to do right by your example. I swear to you from this moment on, I am your friend.

This scene only lasted a few minutes, but the acting in it was phenomenal. Rose's denial over Silas' shooting. Her face when she realizes her son had something to do with it. The bond between Jack and David as Jack explains his vision for a better Gilboa. Too bad it all went to shit after. ...

I really appreciated this scene because I think friendship is sometimes overlooked in Merlin. This scene, after a lot of built-up, showed how far Arther and Gwen were willing to go to save Merlin, their friend. I loved it!

Gaius is so important to Merlin, and I think this fact is overlooked in the series, too, so I really loved it.

I loved how these scenes were filmed. It, along with the music, just fit so well. The subtleties in Katie McGrath's acting was so perfect.

Okay, this relatively short scene took me almost 30 minutes to get through because I stopped to squee every 10 seconds. The lighting, the everything, and especially their faces before and after. It was a perfect first kiss.

Series two of Merlin really lacked evidence of Gwen and Morgana's friendship, so I told on to this scene. The glances between Gwen and Arthur at the end was so aching.

This scene broke my heart! I've been an avid Merlin/Morgana shipper, and Morgana is one of my favorite characters, so this scene really messed me up.

Margaret: I wish I could tell you how lonely I am. How cold and harsh it is here. Everywhere there is conflict and unkindness. I think God has forsaken this place. I believe I have seen hell and it's white, it's snow-white.

This scene made me realize just how good North & South would be. The music, composition, filming, and everything else was just so well put together. I held my breath while Margaret starting saying "I think God has forsaken this place."

John: Look back at me.

GAH! The look on his face when he realizes she wasn't going to look back. I cried a bit. These small, simple scenes are what made me fall in love with these characters.

John: You're coming home with me.[?]

I never figured out if this was a statement or question. Maybe it was mix of both. Gah, it was so lovely when he turned and realized she wasn't leaving him.

The split second where he touches her dress was so beautiful. I love this couple.

This film had amazing subtle scenes. There was so much sexual tension between Darcy and Elizabeth.

Darcy: I love you. Most ardently. Please do me the honour of accepting my hand.
Elizabeth: Sir, I appreciate the struggle you have been through, and I am very sorry to have caused you pain. Believe me, it was unconsciously done.
Darcy: Is this your reply?
Elizabeth: Yes, sir.
Darcy: Are you... are you laughing at me?
Elizabeth: No.
Darcy: Are you rejecting me?

Darcy: So this is your opinion of me. Thank you for explaining so fully. Perhaps these offences might have been overlooked had not your pride been hurt by my honesty...
Elizabeth: My pride?
Darcy: ...in admitting scruples about our relationship. Could you expect me to rejoice in the inferiority of your circumstances?
Elizabeth: And those are the words of a gentleman. From the first moment I met you, your arrogance and conceit, your selfish disdain for the feelings of others made me realize that you were the last man in the world I could ever be prevailed upon to marry.
[There is silence. He leans in towards her, as if about to kiss her]
Darcy: Forgive me, madam, for taking up so much of your time.

This is my favorite scene from this movie. You could tell both of them have feelings for each other, but their pride and stubbornness are preventing them from telling each other. The split second where Darcy was going to kiss Elizabeth was so beautiful, really. Both Matthew and Keira were splendid in this movie.

I had a lot of faith in Maxxie and Anwar's relationship, so Anwar's dad's acceptance of Maxxie really cemented their friendship for me.

I didn't like Tony and Michelle's relationship that much, but I started loving them while Tony is telling her he loved her. I did not see that bus/truck/whatever coming at all, so this scene freaked me out so much.

I definitely didn't want Chris to die, but I knew Jal wouldn't see him again after this scene. I was sobbing at the end of this scene.

I love Michelle and Jal. This scene was just so poignant.

Series one started revolving around Tony and Michelle, so this ending scene between them acted as the end of their relationship and, for me, the end of this generation.

I really like Effy and JJ (not as a couple). I also thought Effy was a really big bitch in the beginning episodes of Series 4, so her pouring juice for JJ made me like her again. I really like friendship scenes, so I loved this one.

Like I said before, I love friendship scenes. JJ's mom face at the end made me cry (yeah, I cry a lot).

Even more than friendship scenes, I love family scenes.

OKAY, LoVe is magnificent. Logan running after her, to protect her. Her little kiss. Their ~passion~. The looks they give each other when they realized they just made out. Gahh!!! This ship was my life.

Dick: Dude, what the hell are you doing? Please tell me this is like, some new reality show called My Skank.
Logan: Goodbye, Dick.
Dick: What?
Logan: Get out of my house. You have a problem with Veronica, you leave. Actually, you have a problem with Veronica, you're pretty much dead to me, so just, like, evaporate or something, I dunno. That's pretty much a general invitation. If you don't like my girlfriend, then start heading towards the big rectangle with the knob.

I love it when couples stick up for each other, so Logan standing up for Veronica made me squeal so much.

Logan: So I guess we broke up, huh?
Veronica: What do you want me to say, Logan?
Logan: "Logan, I'm gonna go home and put my head in the oven because I can't go on living knowing what a heartless bitch I am!" Something like that.
Veronica: So you're saying you want me dead?
Logan: Yes.

Poor Logan. Poor Veronica. His face when he sees how much she hates him ...

Lilly: Don't forget about me, Veronica.
Veronica: I could never.

There were so many scenes I could have chosen for Firefly. I would have done a dozen scenes but I got to Firefly last and didn't have much room in my fifty choices. This scene started everything, because really, it's all about River, isn't it?

Boromir: I would have followed you, my brother, my captain, my king...

Oh my gosh, this scene ripped me to shreds.

Nathan: She’s got you thinking this is how you’re supposed to be. Well, it’s not! We’re young. We’re supposed to drink too much. We’re supposed to have bad attitudes and shag each other’s brains out. We are designed to party. This is it. Yeah, so a few of us will overdose or go mental. But Charles Darwin said you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. And that’s what it’s all about--breaking eggs! And by eggs, I do mean, getting twatted on a cocktail of Class As. If you could just see yourselves! It breaks my heart. You’re wearing cardigans! We had it all. We fucked up bigger and better than any generation that came before us. We were so beautiful! We’re screw-ups. I’m a screw-up and I plan to be a screw-up until my late 20s, maybe even my early 30s. And I will shag my own mother before I let her… or anyone else, take that away from me!

Nathan is spectacular, isn't he?

I do not like Peggy and Pete, and in this scene they both seem so weak, yet I loved this moment.

Romola Garai is my favorite actress in the world. As I was collecting photos for this picspam, I noticed how different she looked in every film. She's so versatile and I know the next decade will be amazing for her.

This was Romola's first acting role. She was scouted at her school by a casting agent.

Daniel Deronda as Gwendolen Harleth
Daniel Deronda is probably one of my favorite tv serial, and I adored Romola in this. Normally, I'm not a fan of characters like Gwendolen, but Romola has a way of making all characters, no matter how annoying, likable.

Nicholas Nickleby as Kate Nickleby
She had a relatively small role in this, but, of course, she was amazing in it. I'm so sad that her character and Jamie Bell's character couldn't get together, though. :P

I Capture the Castle as Cassandra Mortmain
This is probably my favorite role of hers. She was just so amazing as Cassandra. The only thing that could have made this better was if she had actually gotten together with Stephen.

Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights as Katey Miller
I have to say this movie was a lolfest. It was not the best performance for her, but she and Diego Luna dancing was the most epic thing ever.

Vanity Fair as Amelia Sedley
This was probably the first performance I saw Romola in. Right off the bat Amelia was my favorite character.

Inside I'm Dancing/Rory O'Shea Was Here as Siobhan
I saw this movie while I was going through my James McAvoy phase, so it was a great surprise when Romola turned up. She was exceptional.

I loved her hair in this one, for one. I've also read that she prefers to dye her hair, not wear wigs. So bravo, Romola!

Angel Deverell as Angel
This is probably her finest performance. The director, François Ozon, called Romola "his muse." She received a standing ovation during one of the screenings. Angel is not the most likable character, but Romola made me love her.

2008
Atonement as Briony Tallis - Age 18
Random trivia: She was Joe Wright's first choice for Elizabeth in Pride & Prejudice (2005) before Keira Knightley auditioned. He still liked her so much that he gave her the role of Briony after the original actress had to drop out. She filmed her scenes in less than two days.

I have not seen this yet, but I can tell it will be amazing. The cast is fantastic, and even the trailers show that Romola will be a wonderful job. See it in theatres when it comes near you and support her!

For me, Emma is the most annoying literary character ever! I almost didn't see this serial because I didn't like her, but saw it to see Romola. It was probably my bias, but I loved her as Emma, which is saying a lot.

Best in Music

+ Keane - Perfect Symmetry. I actually saw them in concert and they were phenomenal! They're releasing a new EP soon, look out for it! Favorite songs: Lovers are Losing, Pretend That You're Alone
+ Flo Rida - R.O.O.T.S. This was your prom music, wasn't it? The music was catchy and you know you loved it. Favorite songs are obvious: Low, Right Round
+ Regina Spektor - Far. I LOVE REGINA SPEKTOR. This year was a big Regina Spektor year for me. I played her albums over and over again. Favorite song: Laughing With
+ Lady GaGa - The Fame Monster. I think I can declare Lady GaGa the best music artist of the year. She's so fabulous and creative. She's also incredibly nice, too. Favorite song: Bad Romance
+ Franz Ferdinand: Tonight: Franz Ferdinand. You know, I don't think I ever figured out if T: FF was its title or just T. But anyway, FF doesn't fail to deliver. They have more less-upbeaty songs this album which is a nice change. Favorite songs: Katherine Kiss Me, Twilight Omens
+ Florence and the Machine - Lungs. She is probably the best "discovery" I've made this year in terms of music. Her music is very catchy and creative. Favorite songs: Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up), I'm Not Calling You A Liar, Kiss With A Fist
+ The Lonely Island - Incredibad. Their music is hilarious, and actually good too. If you haven't heard any of their music yet, go to youtube. Their videos are great. Favorite songs: Like a Boss, I'm On a Boat

Best in Movies

+ Up. I was crying within the first ten minutes, I swear. I saw it in 3D, which I shouldn't have because those glasses were annoying as heck, but it didn't diminish the movie. It was credibly beautiful. Pixar makes the best movies. Plus Russell reminds me of my little brother.
+ Star Trek. I saw this MONTHS after everyone else did, and I'm sad I didn't see it in theatres. I can't wait for the sequel. No wonder Star Trek has such a huge fandom.

+ Slumdog Millionaire was in my 2008 picspam too, but man oh man did it explode in 2009. Good for it. I love Dev Patel and I'm glad this film has been such a great success.
+ I saw Bright Star by myself and to be honest I was underwhelmed when I saw it. However, when I thought about it after I realized it was a beautiful film in terms of everything.
+ Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is probably on here because I'm such a huge HP fan. I loved the movie until the last 10 minutes or so (before it was hilarious) and somehow those ten minutes just killed everything.

+ Go Emily Blunt! The Young Victoria was probably the greatest thing I saw this year. It was SO beautiful and interesting and dramatic and everything. GO SEE IT. I also decided to see Sunshine Cleaning because of Emily and it wasn't the most exciting movie, but it teaches a lot of lessons and both Amy Adams and Emily are fantastic in it.

+ I don't think I need to say anything about Inglourious Basterds because you've all seen it. Quentin Tarantino is a bad ass. I loved Brad Pitt in it. All the characters were awesome and I wish it was longer. Can QT make it like Kill Bill and have a part two?

+ It is Pirate Radio in the US, but I enjoy The Boat that Rocked much better. It had a great soundstrack, obviously. It was also HILARIOUS. As you can see from the poster, it has a pretty amazing cast.

Best in TV Shows

+ I don't need to say anything about Glee either because you've all seen it. It's everyone's favorite show, and the season's not even done yet.

+ Misfits was advertised as "Skins meeting Heroes," and I thought it was the most stupid thing I had ever heard of in my life. However, I gave it a chance and it's an incredibly good show with great acting and a storyline that actually moves. It has been renewed for a second series and I hope they lose the jumpsuits because they are fug.

+ In the past, if anyone asked me which cancelled tv show I'd bring back, I answered Wonderfalls, but I think from now on I'll say Kings. God, it had SO MUCH POTENTIAL to be the most amazing thing ever. Interesting storylines with great actors. Thanks for killing, NBC.

+ Although it started off very slow, the latter half of Gossip Girl has been ~intense. The last episode was probably the best ever.
+ To be honest, I started watching White Collar because Matt Bomer is cute. Then I realized he was Bryce Larkin! Sadly, he's gay, but a girl can dream. All the characters are really smart, down to the very secondary characters. There is also some major bromance between Neal and Peter. I like it.

+ Modern Family is the most hilarious comedy since ever. PLEASE WATCH IT if you haven't yet.

+ I thought Dollhouse was pretty stupid after reading the sypnosis, but decided to give it a shot as it was going into its second season because three BSG characters were in it. It's so addicting. I'm so sad it's cancelled, and I love how it got 1000000x better once it was actually cancelled.

+ Not going to lie, FlashForward is usually very boring until the last 20 minutes of it. I'm dying to know what happens, though, so I will continue watching. Also for John Cho.
+ USA probably has the best tv shows this year. In Plain Sight is so good. I want it to come back now. I've waited way too long. I'm so sad Monk is gone, but I like how they ended it. Finally, Monk is somewhat happy, haha. Psych remains as hilarious as ever, and again, the bromance is the awesome.

+ I know Battlestar Galactica has been around since 2004, but I saw most of it in 2009. It's probably my favorite tv series because it's so comprehensive and intricate. It has the best writing ever. Please start watching it if you haven't yet. (BTW: Can you guess my favorite character?)

+ Merlin is an addicting lolfest of awesome. It's gotten so much more intense in teh second season and has lost some of its lolfest, but definitely not any of its magic (har har har). I love its cast too. &hearts

+ SKINS!!! Although I miss Gen. One so much, Gen. Two is very well done. Series 4 is so close right now. I can't wait.

Best in Entertaining

+ It's entertaining just looking at Henry Cavill and Rupert Grint.

+ BSG gets another spam because it is that amazing. Seriously, all these actors should get Oscars. I love them so much, especially Katee Sackhoff and Grace Park.

+ Angelina Jolie and Emily Blunt. &hearts &hearts &hearts

+ Talullah Riley, Amy Adams, and Carey Mulligan. GORGEOUS.

+ I've watched and rewatched most of Romola Garai's work this year. She went into the spotlight with Emma, but my favorite performance of hers will always be from Daniel Deronda. Glorious 39 is coming out soon in the US and I hope it wins her many many awards.

+ If you don't like Lady GaGa or at least one of her songs, you're lying to yourself. She is the most creative entertainer out there right now. She has so much talent. She's also such a nice and smart person.

+ 2009 is also the year where I started college!!! at UC Berkeley. I took these photos while wandering around the huge campus.

Random PSA: Livejournal compresses your files, even 12kb 100x100 icons, (and thus makes them low quality) when you bulk upload. If you upload a single file at a time, the quality will be kept. Photobucket seems to only be compressing files for some photobuckets, but they are still doing it without notice. I'm going to continue using a new photobucket account until a better server is found.

A Question to the Community

Did you know that photobucket has recently, WITHOUT telling their members, compressed your files? I noticed a lot of my graphics were suddenly of lower quality. They're all icons so obviously they don't take up much space. I opened another account and tested it, and apparently photobucket will start compressing your files if you upload using the "1MB" option. However, according to this thread, which quotes from users' interaction with photobucket officials, photobucket will continue compressing your files into lower quality. That definitely sucks for people who use photobucket to upload graphics and arts. Even though I found a way around the compressing (not using the 1MB upload option), I feel like it's temporary and photobucket will continue compressing all your files with no warning.

So my question to you is what are other alternatives? I know there's tiny pic, imageshack, and LJ Scrapbook, but I want to use them as a last resort since I make dozens of icons at a turn and uploading is a pain.

I was in my economics class, taking a quiz about GDP and other stuff I didn't study for, when, for some weird reason, I remembered that I had some icon requests I never fulfilled! To everyone who I lied to when I said I would complete your requests in a timely manner, I'm so sorry!

I'm preparing a mega-graphics post that I hope to post before the month is over. I'm trying new techniques, and I really feel these new icons are way better than anything I've made so far.

If anyone wants to (re)request, please comment here. I will finish your requests or kick myself in the stomach, I promise.

Guidelines:
01. PLEASE PROVIDE PHOTOS (as high quality as possible).
02. If requesting a movie, please link to the imdb page and caps.
03. If requesting certain scenes/characters, please make sure I know who/what to icon. I accidentally iconed the wrong character once!
