Author of two full length poetry collections, and winner of several awards and fellowships, including the Hedgebrook Residency, the Akademie Schloss Solitude Fellowship, the TFA Creative Writing Award, the Srinivas Rayaprol Poetry Prize, and the Muse India Young Writer Award. My newest book, a collection of oral histories of women across India raised by single women. will be released by Harper Collins in 2026.
I have been teaching creative and academic writing, one on one and in group settings, since 2004. I teach extensively online, mostly longer courses, and organise shorter intensive retreats in the Himalayas. My workshops typically combine writing craft with narrative therapy approaches. I also customise workshops for different settings, especially for the development sector.
Pottery is more passion than work, more serious hobby than side hustle. It’s still a huge part of who I am. At the moment, my pottery is entirely functional (I love the contrast of making functional pots while pursuing the least functional of writing forms!)— mostly mugs, coffeemakers, and bowls, wheel thrown stoneware, fired to cone 6.
