The Position

The successful candidate is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and control systems used in oil & gas facilities, refineries, FMCG plants, and manufacturing/production factories. The role ensures process accuracy, system reliability, safety compliance, and operational efficiency in automated industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Installation & Commissioning

  • Install, configure, and commission field instrumentation and control devices.

  • Install and wire transmitters, sensors, analyzers, control valves, and junction boxes.

  • Perform loop checking and functional testing of instrumentation systems.

  • Interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and instrument datasheets.

  • Assist in plant start-ups and commissioning activities.

2. Maintenance & Calibration

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of instrumentation systems.

  • Calibrate and maintain:

    • Pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters

    • Control valves and positioners

    • Gas detectors and analyzers

    • Weighing and batching systems

  • Troubleshoot PLC, DCS, and SCADA-based systems.

  • Replace faulty instruments, sensors, and control components.

  • Maintain calibration records and compliance documentation.

3. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

  • Identify instrumentation faults and control system failures.

  • Diagnose signal issues (4–20mA, HART, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus).

  • Perform loop checks and system testing.

  • Support process optimization and automation improvements.

  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to reduce recurring failures.

4. Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to HSE policies and permit-to-work systems.

  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

  • Work safely in hazardous and classified areas (ATEX / explosion-proof zones).

  • Comply with industry standards such as:

    • American Petroleum Institute (API)

    • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

    • International Society of Automation (ISA)

  • Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and toolbox meetings.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain instrument calibration certificates and maintenance logs.

  • Update CMMS systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo).

  • Report equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.

  • Support spare parts planning and inventory control.

Qualifications required

  • Diploma or Technical Certification in Instrumentation,
    Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Required Technical Skills

  • 3–7+ years of experience in oil & gas, FMCG, refineries, or manufacturing plants.

  • Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation and process control systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and wiring schematics.

  • Hands-on experience with PLC/DCS systems.
