Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.
LOL this week someone commented that the colors on the icon I made for
lumos_lims were a "bit flat."
It was a black and white icon. -_-
We started a new project at work today. We're grading third graders' essays. They are HILARIOUS. I totally called it that I would see a Harry Potter mention by the end of the day, and lo and behold, I got one about a Firebolt. The kids have to answer a question that's basically "You find a strange object on the playground. What is it?" So there are all kinds of wacky things they come up with. Diamonds and moon rocks and snails and alien eggs and slimy Martian coins that transport you into the jungle while making you into a Hiro-like superhero. LOL seriously. (I think that kid might be the next Vonnegut Y/N)
Needless to say, it's going to be infinitely more fun than grading 10th grade math papers like last time.
And here's a random question to all those who have either graduated college or are old enough to have graduated college, but still live with their parents: Do you pay rent?
My mother has been listening to an awful lot of that Suze Orman chick and I have this sinking feeling tonight she is going to announce that I need to start paying for my room and board. But the thing is, I only live at home because I am so completely broke that I literally cannot afford to pay one more bill, let alone rent. I already pay for all my own stuff, I just don't pay rent. Because I can't. Because the system blows and I graduated from college owing $30,000 and I can't get hired anywhere that pays me anything.
I know I may sound like a spoiled kid, but the logic that my mother allowing me to stay in her house free of charge means that she is spoiling me is just totally ridiculous. If I could afford to NOT live here, trust me, I'd be out of here. Loooong gone. And I plan to move out the second I get a teaching job. It just makes me really mad that people from my parents' generation (i.e. Suze Orman) think that my entire generation is spoiled rotten because there are a huge amount of us living at home post-college.
When my mom was my age, she had been married for 5 years and was pregnant with me. She also only had to go to college for 2 years and had a job that paid enough to allow her and my father to live on their own. My grandfather also put BOTH my parents through school. I however, went to college for 5 years, paid for it myself, and I make about $1 more an hour now than I did as a temp when I was 19.
It's a horribly frustrating situtation. And I have a feeling me and my mom are going to be having Words tonight. Awesome.
ETA: Know what I really hate? Mods that bitch about doing modly things. It's like, no one is forcing you to do anything, sheesh.
