I had the privilege of working with Ashween at EduBrite as a fellow full-stack engineer. During this time, Ashween demonstrated excellent ability across the stack. We worked on several projects together requiring cohesive planning, coordination, and communication as we enhanced and tuned a SAAS product for high-profile releases.
Due to his demonstrated abilities, judgement, and communication in our time together, it wasn't uncommon for me to make a simple request at planning time for several stages of a particular high-profile project - "I need Ashween on this." It wasn't just technical ability - Ashween would dive into the nuance of a need, tracing the codebase and tech stack (often not a trivial task) to ensure the requirements made sense in the broader view. When they didn't, he did not hesitate to raise concerns and ensure swift resolution.
Ashween would often find himself tasked with "trivial" tasks that turned out to be anything but - tasks that would fling him far from familiar territory where he would execute well-thought-out solutions that provided broader product value. This could be in the form of tweaking the API layer for long-term health or introducing new types of platform-level filtering logic (via rather creative MySQL queries) to ensure the product met customer needs regardless of the data model's original intent.
It was a pleasure to work with Ashween - any organization would find him a valuable asset and team member.
