So everyone knows about Seven Preposterous Things by Bloodcult of Freud (yanniconny) and finally after bribery with many bags of Doritos and Sunflower Seeds I got my super talented Older Daughter to do a drawing of the principal characters. Snape was hard, but I think she did a lovely job. I hope that this will brighten yanniconny's day as well as pay her for all the work she has done to entertain with her stories.

Today in the mail I received 16 tons of Monty Python Dvd Collection. *thumbs up* I'll not be reading fic tonite.

I got the shirts! More expensive that the ones from two years ago, but better quality.

Malfoy (back) front has Slytherin across the chest, this one is for Older Daughter.

Weasley (back) Front has Gryffindor Quidditch across (for Younger Daughter who is a Gryffindor to her toenails)

Half-Blood Prince (back) front has Severus Snape across the chest. Keen observers will notice snapesforteframed art on the wall.

More confirmation about the mood swings. Mr. E. got v. angry at a professional in our line of work today over the phone and threatened to "kick his balls up into his stomach and gouge out his eyes." J (who has the office next door) and I were laughing but it's a bad thing for him to do that as word will get around town and we could lose business. And business is already slow.

Back in February I succumbed to three years of my younger daughter's frequent requests for a dog. We debated over puppy/adult, puchase/adopt. And finally after much agonizing, much money, and many visits to animal shelters around San Antonio we decided on Bette.

Now I've never been a fan of dogs, I'm a cat person. All the way. Which is why I have Ponca. But thus far I've been very satisfied with Bette, she's a aprx 5 year old Shep mix. She is crate trained, housebroken, and is so very affectionate. I'm very happy that we adopted and I'm so very glad that she turned out to be a good dog. I have little time for training and we have little consistency in our home so we're very lucky that she has adapted so well. She's gets along with Ponca to a certain extent. And she is also fascinated with Neville Longbottom, our guinea pig.

Younger Daughter and Bette

My Half-Blood Prince shirts were supposed to be ready yesterday but they called and it's now going to be Tuesday. As long as they are done right, then I'll be satisfied with the delay.

In other news....I am highly suspicious that one of my bosses (I have three), Mr. E., may be taking drugs. Again. He has an illness that while constantly affecting him does on occasion become v. painful and he does need medication for that. And when he normally uses pain meds everything is fine. But this is something different. He's been having erratic mood swings and coming into the office at odd hours. Usually he works 10-3p with very few exceptions, but lately it's been 3a-10a or 3p to 9p or not showing up at all. He loses his temper at the drop of a hat and I know that he's now being forced to see a Pain Specialist because his doctors won't write him any more pain prescriptions. My mom told me that a Pain Specialist is someone who gets your pain meds under control when you are out of control. He got so mad today when I walked out of his office he threw something at the wall and it shattered.</div>

billowing black robes - random thoughts

In fan fiction, the majority of the opinion of the stories that I have read seem to do Severus up in a limited variety of black clothing. I've become a player of "spot the outfit" when delving into a good fiction to seek what choices the authors may make.

Which is your favorite choice of Snape Clothing when reading fan fiction?

Traditional Black Wizarding Robes - The celebrated snapesforte has him in traditional robes with nothing underneath except his pants and bits.  She has described his robes in detail in her fiction Taking Over Me  and in Soul Play elaborates in Chapter 22 The Prince's Advocates: "His travelling cloak was hanging off his shoulders, around his upper arms. His robes had been parted down the front, opening him to her. His pants were tugged down, just enough."  Snapesforte is an author who has made the most thorough Snape-Study of anyone that I know of online. I agree with her analysis based primarily on the text from Philosopher's Stone "Snape was holding his robes above his knees. One of his legs was bloody and mangled..." . This attire has become a favorite outfit of mine, but ultimately very few authors have chosen to go with this choice of attire.

Frock Coats and Waistcoats - Two of my favorite authors have chosen to go with this movie based clothing, and I admit that until I read up on Canon Snape Clothing a couple of years ago at Half-Blood Prince I wasn't adverse to the idea of this fashion or his choice of fastenings.   theatresm used the buttons in a splendid method in Chaos is Come Again, Chapter Three: "Buttons finally sorted, he flung the coat off, threw it over the chair next to Hermione..." Another author Bloodcult of Freud ( yanniconny) uses not only the buttons but the layers of black clothing for a slow laborous undressing in Tyger! Tyger!, Chapter Two: "It took him forever to undress. Hermione counted no less than four layers of clothes, over a hundred tiny black buttons. What an agonising and terrifying striptease." Snape may be a bit outdated or over-dressed but I have to say that the frock coat suits his persnickety personality.

Black Robes, White Dress Shirt, and Black Trousers - A favorite of many and easily convertable to muggle fashion for a man who lives on a deserted muggle street.   wonderfulwrites makes excellent use of this dress in Walk Through the Fire, Chapter One Persephone: "It was Snape, too thin and strangely human in his shirtsleeves and trousers, on the far side of the room with his wand at his side."   Author, Kailin, chose some practical clothing for potions work in Snape, A History, Chapter Four: "A stained brown leather apron covered a dingy white shirt, its sleeves rolled up over the elbows. Dirty trainers peeked out from the worn bottoms of black trousers that had clearly seen better days." SnapeySnax in Augury and Ardor, Chapter Three even used this type clothing "His fingers were working the buttons open on his linen shirt" in the privacy of his rooms at The Dark Lord's headquarters. I have to admit that when you are dealing with any sort of muggle setting these garments are practical and tend to make the scene easier to bear than dealing with numerous glamours and transfiguration.

Muggle Attire - Here is where people get creative and depending on the writing it can be brilliant or dead wrong. I've read safe choices like black jumpers, white dress shirts with threadbare collars, and oversized trenchcoats hanging off his spare frame. A few ludicrous choices like black leather trousers with leather cord fastenings and even a navy windbreaker have worked to a certain extent. The greatest achievement thus far would be Bloodcult of Freud's ( yanniconny) dress selection in Seven Preposterous Things, Chapter Eleven: "On second look, he was shirtless, and the jacket was wrapped around his shoulders. Despite the persistent warm weather, her ersatz husband had taken to wearing a decidedly decrepit leather jacket. She supposed it had usurped the place of his swirling black wizard's robes....She hadn't seen him in anything other than blue jean trousers and a short sleeved black shirt in the months since they'd left England."  The image of Snape in this apparel should not work, but it does, the author has it so right, it hurts.

Nighttime Threads - Alas, what is underneath the robes is anyone's guess, but different authors like different things.   shiv5468 chose in A Law To Herself, Chapter Ten: a "shabby green dressing gown", wendynat in Cloak of Courage chose " loose black trousers, of some sort of soft material, and an open dressing robe... also black..." in Chapter Six, and finally in a story by snarkypants, our Snape is caught unawares by a floo call in Becoming, Chapter Two: "...he emerged from his en suite lavatory, wrapped in a shabby blue brocade dressing gown. As he walked, drops of water rained from his wet hair." 10 points to Slytherin for dressing gowns of any colour.

Original Ideas - There have been other eccentric choices for our malevolent Professor in black: a kilt in Lady of the Masque's inventive In Annulo, velvet, inky Death Eater robes, a jaunty bowler hat in Grainne's darkly amusing Insidious, and shredded threadbare-to-nothing robes in the dreaded Azkaban stories such as dolefullydsired 's sweet Beyond All Doubt, Chapter Five: "He had no shirt, and his ribs poked prominently through the skin of his torso."

I love Snape descriptions, now tell me what you like best!

Upon closer inspection of the new High Res photos from the International Trailer (does anyone else think of creamers?), it appears to me that the Deranged and Overly Dramatic Bellatrix Lestrange might benefit from a razor to her underarms. Surely there is a spell for that.

In other news, introduced Older Daughter to Monty Python. We watched first the Holy Grail and are thus making our way through the series. I've fallen for Michael Palin all over again. *sigh* Anyway, she is eating the shows up like M&M candies. I was her age when I was converted. At least she has a mother who appreciates them. They made my mum a nervous wreck.

Well my mom got moved into her apartment and all goes well there, My garage is overflowing with her stuff and it's driving me batty. I can't even see my camping gear, much less get to it. And of course another cold front is coming through so it will be cold this weekend and we can't go through the stuff!  It was cold last weekend, got down to 29 degrees wind chill! I was scared for my tomatoes (which are doing fabulous) but it looks like they weathered it okay.

My DVR took a crap last week and failed to tape The Office - the episode where Roy was going after Jim. I was so angry! BUT before the episode today I downloaded it off Itunes - My first time! and got to see it and OMG. Michael wearing a woman's suit! Holy shit that was funny. I'm so glad that Andy is back he's annoying but he's lovable in an annoying way. The jumping castle tonight! And Creed was peeing behind the shrubs! I love this show. I'm giving both Seasons 1 & 2 to my mom to watch asap.

I had to go to a golf tournament and sit with a keg this week to market for our company. Sounds great right, outdoors all day, no office. This big bellied prick munching on a cigar gets to our hole and comes up and I'm having trouble with the keg because all I'm getting is foam and then in front of the other guys he starts making jokes about me giving him too much head and how he likes head but not that much and "Well you know I always tell the lady bartenders, that I want a beer and a little head." HA fucking HA.  And I have to stand there with a smile on my face and just take it.

Because I need my job.

Well in about an hour there is a foursome waiting to tee off and they are clients of ours, and another team comes up and they are waiting to tee off too, and this prick #2 comes up and say Oh! XXXX Company. I heard about you guys, and I'm all smiles to try to market to him and he says "I heard you had a girl down here giving head."   I was so fucking embarrassed. Is there any professionalism or plain common courtesy left in the world?

older daughter's deviantart site is doing really well. i'm proud of how far she has come in one year.

thank you guys for your kind words about my terrible past few months. my mother is doing better and will be out of rehab next wednesday. after that she'll be moving to an apartment here in town and i'll be able to keep an eye on her.

in the potterverse i think that the scene for the cover is inside or just outside of the veil in the department of mysteries and i find it odd that potter nor the dark lord have their wands. merlin! i cannot wait. i have a constant sick feeling in my stomach.

these past months have been busy for me. i don't go into my private life much, but here it is.

ofthesky.net is gone. for good, i'm going to eventually put everything on my deviantart account so go there for updates, it's got the latest stuff anyway.

after battling cancer for many years, my grandmother has finally passed away. she is finally free of pain and hopefully at peace with my grandfather.

only a week after the funeral, my mother who has MS and was completely exhausted from nursing my grandmother, accidentally pulled a bookcase down on top of her and suffered what is basically a MS stroke. Bad news. She couldn't walk afterwards and is now in rehab taking baby steps to regain her strength. i can't tell you how scary this was...ever since was was diagnosed with MS my huge fear would be the day she would be confined to a wheelchair.

the plan has always been that mother would come to live here in town with us, in her own apartment. mother has many friends here from when she lived here before her divorce, so she is looking forward to moving back. she was always hours away before and we just couldn't visit that often.

so many life changing events in that department. i confess that i've broken away from fan art and even reading fan fiction SNAPE! for awhile, i do that...anyone who has known me over the years knows that i take breaks from the internet, but i always come back.

So Friday night we left to go to the coast to fish on my ex-father-in-law's new boat (he bought it off ebay). We finally get there at 2am and we decided to put the boat in the water in the morning after we got some sleep so we slept on the boat on the trailer in the parking lot. Got up next morning went had some eggs and breakfast tacos. OMG. We got out on the ocean and I got S.I.C.K. I was so sick. I've never had a problem before with seasickness but I had it bad.

My ex-step-brother-in-law, Buddy, caught a shark that was probably about 5-6 feet. We didn't get it in but I did get a good shot of it as we were trying to gaff it.

Then I hurled eggs over the side of the boat.

Then xfil and xsbil each caught two redfish. Very nice sizes.

Then I got sick and hurled more eggs over the side. By then I was praying I wasn't going to catch a fish. I couldn't have handled it. I was so sick.

All day long it was like that.

We went back to shore rested, then ate dinner, I was hoping to get better. Then back out on the boat. Ocean was much calmer and while I was still ill I was better and I caught a nice sized Gafftop.

Slept on the boat but I slept on the sidewalk on the pier next to the boatslip. Note: I'm 34 years old, and I'm not made to sleep on sidewalks anymore.

Back out Sunday and I did better if I could watch the waves. Only the waves.  We decided to start a chum line with the innards of the redfish. Xfil gutted them and I had to hold open the sides so that he could dig out the innards. I promptly threw up into the body cavity of the fish! It was just water though. I did NOT eat eggs this morning. In fact it will be quite awhile before I do again. My xfil was like "G-damn Kim!" I was so embarrased!

Finally we made it home at 5:30p and I just got out of the shower. Now I know to 1. bring my cot to sleep on and 2. don't eat in the am before going out on the boat.

He could have done it twice. Or one time or the other. He didn't know upon AD's return to Hogwarts that AD had drunk the potion unless AD told him where he was going before he left.... but I don't think it went down that way.
