i have despised lonsberry ever since the incident that summer with the sixth grade car thief who was killed by city police. without knowing any of the background--like that the kid was a fine student who'd never been in trouble before and that the mother had been desperately searching for him for days prior--and only knowing that the kid was black, he wrote in the paper that clearly the mother was bad and that it was her fault for raising a hood. her twelve-year-old son was fucking dead. shot by cops. i hate him. and i'm, yeah, embarrassed this is acceptably run material for the paper.
