more later, when i am less ravenous and tired.
the show was pretty fun, though britt daniel seemed out of sorts (grumpy about the sound quality/equipment problems, and a little off just in general). it was weird 'cause it made the set uncomfortable, at least for me (maybe because i had this idea they'd have a warm show atmosphere--from live recordings and just because of the nature of their music). but it wasn't too bad, and they played most of my favorites, save for "change my life," "revenge," "irrigation man," "loss leaders," and whatever they didn't play from girls can tell ("this book is a movie" comes to mind). there was a boy sitting behind me one seat over who giggled whenever i got excited that they were going to play such and such song (i clasped my hands to my chest, purely reaction, when they started "me and the bean," "everything hits at once," and "the way we get by" etc). the funny thing is that despite britt's grumpiness on "stage" (not really; it was that lecture hall), he was quite friendly off of it, both before and after the show. and some kid asked him to sign a random paperback copy of wallace stevens' poems. cute.
apparently i am not the only girl to have a bit of a crush on britt (though it waned a bit tonight, as he looked rather frayed, but whatever); whenever he turned around while playing (as another aside, i'm not too big a fan of that performance style, though i know a lot of great players do it (ahem, mary timony)), a girl or two would scream their approval. hm.
...crooked fingers was GREAT. i love eric bachmann. the band played shirtless for half their set as part of some bet (and well, 'cause a kid from the audience shouted "take it off you sexy piece!" when the possibility was mentioned). he didn't even play my favorites and i still grinned the entire time. and he was really, really nice to me after the show, which is something i lovelove about indie performances. his band was goofy too.
i own way too many music shirts. i obtained four new ones this week. what a crazy week it has been--it can't be sunday already; i'm so screwed schoolwise. oh. well.
i anticipate cushy sleep tonight.
the bassist from spoon looks a little (just a little) like ben stiller, more like helena's boyfriend/husband.
