um, I've read analysts who say the Romeo story has eternal appeal as a romantic model because.. well, because of the metaphor - the dying together which is like joining together.
And this sense that they had no other life outside the shared on. The romantic ideal is that the two merge as halves of the one soul.
I'm romantic without getting that into the merging thing. I think its nice to blur and change with someone intimately, but if one becomes too enmeshed its boring.

And myself, as representative of all women, would not like a man to kill dragons. I like dragons. But I like a man to like himself and his horse.
