start with your fingers, they finger the change

blarrrrrrgh. missed k's invitation (a repeated one, too...d'oh) to see some band (she didn't say who) at the roboto project tonight. she wanted me to come along, she didn't want to go alone, "because it's in a bad part of town." this reminds me of after a dinner party before summer ended, when stephanie's mom said she could drive chelsea home "as long as other people are in the car with you." then in the car it's almost 2am and we're in "the bad part of town" (eye roll) and stephanie informs ed that she has to wait to drop him off because she was told to have someone who "looked intimidating" in the passenger's side. so if some drug dealer comes up to us with a gun, apparently ed's "intimidating look" will save us. ed ponders this because ed ponders everything (it's why he doesn't always shave, he's busy pondering...it's too intense you see...) and then stephanie fills the sound gap with, "um, well, if you really want me to take you home, i'm sure mary beth can be the big intimidating protector figure." yeah! i wanna be a bouncer.

wow, that was rolling around the subject. la.

went to the carnegie art museum today. oh. ...

gonna fill my pages with quotes from smart quirky figures. because it's friday and i have class tomorrow and i don't want to be puked on tonight at some party. and i feel like i could go days without food, for some reason. not without coffee though. though.

It's the desire for irreverance as much as anything else that brought me first to poetry. The need to make fun of authority, break taboos, celebrate the body and its functions, claim that one has seen angels in the same breath as one says that there is no god. Just thinking about the possiblity of saying shit to everything made me roll on the floor with happiness.

The closeness of two people listening together to music they both love. There's no more perfect union.

Nosology, unfortunately, has nothing to do with noses.

Mickey Rivers, a former Yankee center fielder, when asked if he was worried about being traded, said something I try to remember to live by when things are going bad. "Ain't no sense in worrying about things you got control over, 'cause if you got control over them, ain't no sense worrying. And there ain't no sense worrying about things you got no control over, 'cause if you got no control over them, ain't no sense worrying."
