a windy day. meant to make note here for myself of something that happened on friday when i got to the gym. one of the personal trainers i'm used to seeing was standing by the rack with (presumably) a client. i asked if they were using it and he said no, have at it, so i started warming up. he turned to his client and said loudly, "now i want you to watch this, OK? watch her." [this was a little unnerving at first because i'm shy but i did warm up in front of them and pretended i couldn't hear to stay natural.] "i've had my eye on this young lady since she started a few months ago, when she struggled with the bar and five. i watched her go up steadily, to 25lb plates, then 35, then 45...and last week i think i saw her with 45 and a nickel. so much progress! and with good form. so you need to step it up; the next time you tell me you can't do it just remember what this young lady's doing, Andrew. and Andrew, she doesn't have the help of your testosterone! so there." and the client replied "yeah but she has estrogen!" that cracked me up. put another feather in my cap to help me keep going. they probably don't know it, but the y folks help me stay motivated and feel good about what i'm doing so much.
