Molly is so awesome! Here I am in the thick of Lent pining for that retro fish pudding Waffle Shop introduced me to, with a freezer FULL of whitefish/cod, and she supplies me with this slender, clearly obscure, home-y, hand-drawn spiral-bound book of Waffle Shop's recipes straight from the source--complete with said fish pudding AND the tomato aspic AND schaum torte AND bourbon pie and the shrimp mousse AND...I could go on. So excited. Fish pudding full of smashed crackers, Tabasco, and butter this week it is!
...we went over last night for a short-notice casual kind of cocktail party. Was fun! Josh decided he doesn't mind the initial flavor of rye but hates the aftertaste, alas. Got to hang with Stella and see Scully briefly too. Paul and Shawna came over a bit later with treats (blueberry sage simple syrup, a log of prosciutto, mozzarella, and basil mm) and it being Molly's shindig of course there was awesome cheese and crackers. We wound up girl talkin' and watching the first couple episodes of the revived Dr. Who. I like outings like this, low-key but still fun and doing "something". On the way home R and I noticed it's gotten rather cold. Wonder if this is the last hurrah for winter weather.
