I have watched so many old timey classics this past week, since they're about to disappear off NF Instant. On the Waterfront (mehhh, especially the very dramatic-for-dramatic's-sake-'50s-play-style ending, and I'm sorry but Eva Marie Saint's tic-like eye movements distracted the hell out of me), From Here to Eternity (I haveta admit if I'd been a teen that era Montgomery Clift would've slain me with the type of roles he always plays...he does anyway, sort of), Le Cercle Rouge (freakin' great! So, so satisfying to just look at, it might even trump the other Melville titles I've seen...maybe), His Girl Friday (entertaining but not as much so as say, Bringing Up Baby, and of course the ending itches), Louie which I have more complicated feelings about than I expected. Oh, and Slings and Arrows which is as entertaining as people told me it'd be. Tried to watch some other random stuff--Larry Sanders show, Catherine Tate, whatever--but didn't get very far. I sound like such a TV junkie. I guess I just want to jump in now that the Wii's working before their amazing plan inevitably changes price range/availability/what-have-you and right before spring is really full throttle upon us and being indoors won't be enticing anymore.
