Building an inclusive, people-first culture

Dave Boettcher and Travis Estes founded Abode with a clear vision: progress in clean energy is best achieved through integrity, collaboration, and a genuine focus on what matters. Drawing on lessons from years in the industry, Abode was created to do things differently—prioritizing people, relationships, and meaningful impact.

Our team

Headquartered in Massachusetts, the Abode team is a cornerstone of the clean energy transition in the Northeast. Through our work in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island—as well as national educational initiatives with partners like Rewiring America—Abode makes a measurable impact on customers, contractors, communities, and the regional economy.

Our points of contact at abode have a real understanding of our issues

“Abode wants to support the Home Performance Contractors, and that support is felt on a daily basis. Phone calls are answered immediately. Emails are responded to expeditiously. Our points of contact at Abode have a real understanding of our issues; the competence of Abode’s team is obvious daily. Additionally, I can say that the relationship between our two companies is one of respect, not adversarial, allowing us to talk through situations and arrive at logical solutions rationally.”

They take a well-measured approach to the best practices for efficiency upgrades

“I have worked in the Mass Save program for over four years as a crew chief and an auditor and I welcome Abode’s approach to oversight. Their QA inspectors are frequently on site to provide guidance and ensure homeowners have a great experience with the program. They take a well-measured approach to the best practices for efficiency upgrades and are always willing to come up with creative solutions to challenges presented in homes.”

It was tremendously helpful to speak with an Abode technical consultant!

“Thank you, it was tremendously helpful to speak with an Abode technical consultant! We find ourselves in “Go” mode. The Q&A was incredibly helpful to get a sense of whether we are heading in the right direction and the factors to consider. I feel that we are now ready to confidently place our order for the new system and for that informed approach we thank you very much. Cheers to Abode for helping homeowners understand and thus proceed with heat pumps and better energy efficiency!”

Stay connected with Abode

@neseaorg’s BuildingEnergy Boston brought together practitioners focused on practical solutions, open exchange, and steady progress across the clean energy community. The “Don’t Stop Us Now!” theme reflected the emphasis on learning from one another—through sessions, conversations, and shared experience.

We were glad to take part, including the session on connecting the dots for small residential decarbonization. Thanks as well to everyone who stopped by our booth to connect.

We appreciate the opportunity to be part of this year’s event and look forward to continuing the conversation.

Abode is excited to announce Shannon Bellamy's promotion to Business Development Specialist.

Since joining Abode in 2023, Shannon’s hard-working can-do attitude has had a giant impact on our team and the programs we operate. As the Program Manager for our Clean Heat Rhode Island implementation, she’s run a hugely successful program that has helped thousands of customers adopt clean heating technologies and enrolled over a hundred contractors in the Heat Pump Installer Network.

Shannon's ability to think broadly and systematically shines through in everything she does. In her new role in Business Development, Shannon will lead proposal responses, evaluate new opportunities, and support both internal and external communications. We're so excited to see her continue to grow.

Congratulations Shannon! 👏
We're here at @neseaorg 's BuildingEnergy Boston to join more than 1,000 practitioners working at the intersection of high-performance buildings, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.

We’re proud to support and participate in a conference built by practitioners, for practitioners—a space to exchange real lessons, practical tools, and ideas that help move the clean energy transition forward.

WE’RE HIRING 👋

Keeping Our Team Ahead of What’s Next in Building Envelope Tech 👇

We recently explored a foam injection technology designed for existing wall cavities in single-family and multifamily buildings. Closed-cell polyurethane foam can be injected directly into walls, no demo required, even if fiberglass is already in place.

For buildings that traditional programs can’t easily reach, this could mean better insulation and less air movement without opening everything up.

We covered how it works, where it fits (including Mass Save), safety, and costs.

Every conversation like this sharpens how we show up for homeowners and contractors in the field—translating emerging solutions into practical next steps.

ABOUT OUR PRESENTER: Doug Lamm, CEO of Building Envelope Materials, is the technical lead and creator of the system.

More than half of the energy used in U.S. buildings goes to hot water and warm air. It’s a big piece of the energy puzzle—and a big opportunity to do better.

That's why our Vice President of Programs, Christopher Haringa, will be at the @aceeedc Hot Water & Hot Air Forums (March 24–26)—joining manufacturers, utilities, program leaders, and researchers working on smarter ways to heat our homes and buildings.

Christopher is looking forward to connecting with others tackling these challenges every day and sharing what we’re learning from the field, and then circling this back to our clients.

If you’re attending, he'll see you there!

The Abode team is getting excited for this month's @neseaorg 's BuildingEnergy Boston, where we will join more than 1,000 practitioners working at the intersection of high-performance buildings, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.

This year’s theme—“Don’t Stop Us Now!”—captures the spirit of a community that keeps moving forward, even when projects face setbacks, funding shifts, or new barriers.

At Abode, we see that momentum every day: contractors learning new technologies, advocates helping neighbors electrify their homes, and practitioners across the region sharing what works so progress accelerates.

We’re proud to support and participate in a conference built by practitioners, for practitioners—a space to exchange real lessons, practical tools, and ideas that help move the clean energy transition forward.

Abode is thrilled to be celebrating Haley Boccuzzi's promotion to Associate Program Manager. Haley joined Abode nearly two years ago and quickly became a core team member. She's an incredibly organized, big picture thinker and she has played a key role in strengthening program operations as well as ensuring Abode's work continues to run smoothly and effectively.

Beyond her operational leadership, Haley has also represented Abode externally. Presenting publicly on Abode's decarb work, as well as participating in local career fairs, Haley has ensured that our work is recognized while inspiring the next generation of clean energy professionals.

In her new role as Associate Program Manager Haley supports programs with the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center as well as the City of Cambridge.

We're so excited to see her continue to grow in her leadership while deepening partnerships and driving meaningful climate impacts in Massachusetts communities.

Congratulations Haley! 👏
