@edgarblythe,
edgar, as you know I love John Donne. For Whom the Bell Tolls trailer, Texas.

Didn't read the book nor see the movie, but I always liked Gary Cooper.
@Letty,
I have not read that much of Hemingway. Also have not seen the film.
Let's see if this link works:

This leads to a chart that allows the average, the Caucasian, the non-musical to have an authentic blues name!
Mine is Blind Bones Johnson!
nice to meet you, Ms Bones, when I used to work in NH, there was a local musician who used to do occasional blues shows incognito as Deaf Orange Driveway.
@plainoldme,
I saw that on FB yesterday. People were having fun with it.
I had a buddy that called himself Blind Lemon Concentrate.
Efficiency and progress is ours once more
Now that we have the Neutron bomb
It's nice and quick and clean and gets things done
Away with excess enemy
With no less value to property
No sense in war but perfect sense at home...
The sun beams down on a brand new day
No more welfare tax to pay
Unsightly slums gone up in flashing light
Jobless millions whisked away
At last we have more room to play
All systems go to kill the poor tonight
Gonna Kill Kill Kill Kill
Kill the poor...Tonight
Behold the sparkle of champagne
The crime rate's gone, feel free again
Oh life's a dream with you, Miss Lily White
Jane Fonda on the screen today
Convinced the liberals it's okay
So let's get dressed and dance away the night
While they...Kill Kill Kill Kill
Kill the poor...Tonight
@edgarblythe,
That tells it like it is, edgar.
A poem that tells a story.

Cavfancier/Paul loved Walt Whitman
@edgarblythe,
Do you like Mozart and Jerome Kern? Listen to them on our radio, Texas.
Songs that tell history. I recall when I was in undergrad college, I wrote a research paper on The Borgia and The Medici. (pronounced me dich he ) Some woman that I knew kept calling it med di ki
Here's Lucretia opera style.

I only know the Borgia and Medici in glancing encounters, as I never read, consistently, that part of history. The music is nice.
Christy always sings a good story and often a sombre one.
Christy Moore, ---- El Salvador.
A girl cries in the early morning
Woken by the sound of a gun
She knows somewhere somebody's dying
Beneath the rising sun
Outside the window of her cabaña
The shadows are full of her fears
She knows her lover is out there somewhere
He's been on the run for a year
Oh, the soul of El Salvador
The bell rings out in the chapel steeple
The priest prepares to say mass
The sad congregation come tired and hungry
To pray that trouble will pass
Outside the sun rises over the dusty streets
Where the crowd gathers round.
Flies and mosquitoes are drinking from pools of blood
Where his boby is found
Oh, the soul of El Salvador
Out on the ranch the rich man's preparing
To go for his morning ride
They've saddled his horse out in the corral
He walks out full of pride
He looks like a cowboy from one of those pictures
the president made in the past
Peasants in rags, the stand back for they know
That El Rico travels fast
Over the soul of El Salvador
A girl cries in the early morning
Woken by the sound of a gun
She knows somewhere somebody's dying
Beneath the rising sun
Outside the window of her cabaña
The shadows are full of her fears
She knows her lover is out there somewhere
He's been on the run for a year
Oh, the soul of El Salvador
Oh, the soul of El Salvador
Oh, the soul of El Salvador
@panzade,
I was laughing so hard at Blind Lemon Concentrate that I had trouble hitting the thumbs up button on your post!
@eurocelticyankee,
I love Christy. Do you have any idea when he was last in America?
@plainoldme,
I'm thinking of getting a really old jeans jacket at a second hand shop and embroidering the name Blind Bones Johnson on the back across the shoulders in the appropriate script. Underneath would be a skeleton, wearing a bikini (too look like a woman) and dark glasses.
@plainoldme,
I made a mistake . . . Mine should be Blind Bones Bailey
Damn, an alliterative name
@plainoldme,
I'm not sure, POM, but it's been a while I'd say.
He's gigging in Ireland and the UK over the next months.
If I ever hear he's heading stateside I'll be sure to post it.
@eurocelticyankee,
Thanks! The trouble is so many bands aren't coming to America . . . too costly and the govt is too paranoid.
