Since our previous coffee house seems closed for an indefinite duration, I'm opening a new place where we can hang out, relax, shoot the breeze, eat, drink, listen to some music, talk about the news of the day and anything else on our minds, and just enjoy each other's company and some lively conversation.
Welcome to Firefly's Lounge!
You'll find very comfy arm chairs, sofas, both indoor and outdoor dining areas, an infinite menu of meals and snacks, a complete bar, live music on the patio, and an unhurried atmosphere--drop in and stay as long as you like, we'll be open 'round the clock.
The Easter buffet is ready to be sampled...
There's a long line of people outside waiting to get in...
And I've donned my new Easter chapeau for the occasion.

But I can't find my dog anywhere. Anyone seen him?
@firefly,
I've seen this one around:

The buffet was superficially nice. However, with no smoked salmon, it is fatally flawed.
Happy Easter!
@firefly,
I see you've haven't taken on Wassau, but Philippe, your new chef, looks very competent. The Easter buffet looks wonderful - congratulations. I have a feeling that Firefly's Lounge is going to be a great success.
@Advocate,
Of course we have smoked salmon, Advocate! Any type you'd like.

There is nothing that we don't offer--the menu is infinite. Our chefs consider your wish to be their command.
Wow, I was served with the most delightful Easter surprise whilst I was waiting - a cup of sheer delight! Far nicer than the traditional Easter egg.
@vonny,
That does look yummy, vonny. And so pretty to boot. I think we're off to a good start.
I got to enjoy this delicious egg dish for lunch today. I saw the recipe in this week's NY Times, and I couldn't wait for our chefs to duplicate it. Oh, was it good!
Spanish Asparagus Revuelto

This dish features typical Spanish ingredients — garlic, chorizo and bread crumbs — incorporated into soft scrambled eggs, for a hearty breakfast, or a simple lunch or first course.

Some nice Spanish guitar music to accompany the Asparagus Revuelto perhaps?
In addition to the dining areas, this new lounge features a reading room, with an infinite library of books, magazines, and daily newspapers, a music room with a limitless variety of music available and headphones for listening, and a downstairs screening room where people can watch any movie they'd like to see. And, of course, there are comfortable conversation areas everywhere, so we can yak to our heart's content.
Right now, I'm in the music room, listening to this, while reading the Sunday paper, enjoying a cup of coffee and a cannoli, and just taking a breather from the hub-bub of our grand opening.

Great idea, vonny! I think we should invite him to perform on the outdoor patio when the weather is warm enough. I'd love to enjoy some paella, while listening to him, on a lovely summer night.
Ms Pissy thinks this a good idea.
Where are the empanadas?
@ossobuco,

Just waiting for you to request them. They will bring you any type you fancy.
@firefly,
What is the filling? They look oh so delicious!
I don't know about a lounge full of wimmins . . . but empanadas, now, that's a sure fire attraction. There's a Chilean restaurant in Kensington Market in Toronto that sells the best empanadas--filled with beef or chicken or veggies (for the vegan fanatics). They're fantastic, and not terribly expensive, either. You get 'em hot and fresh if you show up at the right time of day.
Jumbo Empanadas, in Kensington Market--click on the link for "all 36 photos" to the right of the page.
@Setanta,
OMG - I'm drooling! Those photos are just too much - I want to taste them all! But wait ............ virtual food? I
can taste them all. Eat them all too - I'm starting with the corn pie!
@vonny,
That corn pie does look tasty, vonny.
I've never heard of corn pie. I tried to find some info on its origins but didn't come up with much. It seems to be commonly served in the Caribbean, and I also found a recipe for a Pennsylvania Dutch version. Does anyone know any more about it?
Speaking of the Caribbean, I'm also fond of the roti wraps (around here they are just called "roti") from the West Indies.

In addition to the empanadas, I think we should add some roti wraps to our menu, for light meals and snacks. Some of my favorites are...

Curried vegetables in roti wrap.

Curried goat and potato roti wrap.
Or maybe some nice Lebanese shawarma . . .
