I hope the message this woman got was that she had been looking ot the wrong source for guidance: Pat.
I really wish that more Christians would speak out agains this kind of hate speech.

You don't think that religious differences can cause problems in a marriage?
I know people who don't speak to their own family members because of differeing opinions on religion.

Sure they can. But there's a long way from saying that to saying, "there is no fellowship between Jesus and the devil. [...] You need to find somebody else. [...] You'll be serving the lord, and he'll be serving the devil. There is no peace in this sort of situation." Which is literally what Robertson was saying.
My wife believes in the Christian God and I am an atheist. In thirty years, we have not had a cross word relating to religion. It depends on the couple and how bullheaded they are.
I agree that it works out all the time.
But probably not among people who write to Pat Robertson for marital advice.
