And speaking of love:
I don't think I've ever posted this song on this thread before, but if I have, I asked to be excused because I love this song times 1,000- too bad he's so badly lip synching- but everyone knows Mr. Grohl can really sing AND play the guitar AND the drums:
@aidan,
I gotta agree. If Nirvana had to be snuffed out in order for the Foo Fighters to be born, well, it was a fair exchange.
@panzade,
Townes Van Zandt - If I Needed You (so simple yet so beautiful)- this is NOT Jeff Bridges singing - this is Townes Van Zandt - I don't know why this video is labelled this way except that Jeff Bridges starred in Crazy Heart (and he has a good voice too - but he didn't write or sing this song - Townes Van Zandt did).
@aidan,
my favorite song at this moment:
reminds me so much of home = in a good way
@panzade,
Really?!? I like them both but the Foo Fighters don't come close, in my book. Both their Nevermind and MTV Unplugged albums could easily compete for the best rock album of the 90's (their biggest competition would be Ten). The Foo Fighters never came anywhere close to that kind of territory.
@aidan,
Same here, they are both easily in my top 25 rock bands.
@Robert Gentel,
Hmmm. I have to agree about Nirvana being a super group; they really changed rock, but....their output sadly, is quite small. The Fighters are less spectacular but their body of work is starting to fill out.
I don't remember if I've posted this song as a favorite or not - but I sure do love it- especially the line of harmony where they slow down and sing:
Quote:Como me duele el olvido
Como duele el corazón
Como me duele estar vivo
Sin tenerte a un lado amor
I saw this band at the Pilton Festival. I bumped into an old mate of mine who'd spent the last 3 weeks watching Apocalypse Now on a loop.
@izzythepush,
A brilliant underground band from the time when everything in the charts was ****. I may have been in the audience, I went to see them enough times.
@Philippos,
I love the lyrics to that song - thanks for posting it.
@aidan,
Me too. The scary make-up and fake skeleton gloves I could do without, but the message is perfect.

@Voice asMusic,
Saw Joe Strummer playing in Southampton. A friend of mine hitched a lift with him once. A very friendly down to earth bloke.
@izzythepush,
The movie London Town about Joe. Mesmerizing.
