Well hello. :) It's been ages since I updated this journal. ~~Life just fucks us all (me, especially)~~ SO to get back on that promised large/wallpaper tutorial, this is it folks. I kinda hope it's up to your standards. ;p

1. First off, taking my preferred image, I put it at the rightmost part.

2. I used this texture by 9-liters-of-art@DA as the main background and erased some uneccessary bits at Sebastian's face.

3. Add this texture by vikyvampirs90@DA to put a little vintage-y color.

4. As you can see, Sebastian now looks ugly. So duplicate his layer and put it at the top. I didn't change anything (Opacity:100% Blend:Normal) because it isn't needed. Just add a layer mask and using the default brush (0% Hardness), erase everything except, of course, the character.

5. To add more color, I used this texture by so-ghislaine@DA and set it to Color Burn while adjusting for the best opacity.

6. Then I put this light texture by bambinainnero and set it to screen with full opacity.

*Then I noticed it lacking. This is probably unrecommended but when inspiration comes, it just hits. What I did was color Main!Sebastian using the usual way and add another b&w image beside him. I also colored the eyes for added effect but otherwise left the second image colorless.

7. I added a layer and filled it with #959595 before setting it to Screen at 40% opacity. This is to dull the background so it isn't that eye-catching and therefore erase it on the part of the images so it would stand out.

8. To even the color tone, I added this grunge texture from urbanstrokes and placed it at the lightened part. Set to Multiply, adjust the opacity and erase the visible edges.

9. I put some text.

10. I also put some more light textures by bambinainnero to add some more life to it.

11. To adjust the lighting, I added a lone adjustment layer. Adjust to your heart's content but this is what I did:
Curves: RGB
Output:48 Input:58
Output:110 Input: 115
Output:169 Input:156
Output:212 Input:199

And voila, finished product! :D

In 9 steps!

1. Get your prepped base.
(Personally, I sharpened first the base before duplicating it. Set the first duplication to Soft Light@60% to make the contrast better then set the second to Screen@50% to brighten it.)

2. New Adjustment Layer: Selective Color

Yellows: -92, 100, 95, 100
Cyan: 100, -26, -100, 86
Blue: 100, 24, -77, 47
White: -56, 12, -63, -100
Neutrals: -14, -18, -40, 7

3. New Adjusment Layer: Curves

RGB
Input: 175 Output: 188
Input: 151 Output: 153
Input: 77 Output: 50

4. Duplicate the base and desaturate it. Set it to Overlay@40%

5. New Adjustment Layer: Selective Color

White: -39, 9, 6, 19
Neutrals: -34, -12, -15, 15

6. I added this notebook textures by girlboheme set on Multiply@100%

7. And this grainy texture by toybirds set on Multiply@40%

8. For a little lighting effect, I also added this bloblight texture by wicked_enough set on Screen@100%

9. Then you can add more stuff in the icon if you aren't satisfied yet. Just don't overdo it. :D

*I can't help but notice that this was slightly similar to my previous tutorial. *shrugs* Oh well, at least I tried to emphasize the color blue this time. *grin* And I know I said its gonna be f-locked but my friend said I should at least wait until my 10th tutorial. *rolls eyes* ~~If I know, she's just saying that cuz' she doesn't have an lj and she's too lazy to make one.~~

*I might make a tutorial for a big graphic soon. *hint, hint* I'm kind of getting bored with icon graphics. :D Wait for that tutorial okay? :)

Eighth Tutorial!

In 8 steps! :)

1. Get your prepped base.

Green: 100, 41, 33, 40

3. Use the Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and set the saturation to 29

4.New Adjustment Layer: Selective Color

Red: 43, -3, -37, -3

5. Duplicate the base and desaturate it. Set it to Overlay@15%

6. I added this grainy texture by blimey_icons set on Multiply@100%

7. New Adjustment Layer: Curves

Seventh Tutorial!

In 8 steps! :)

1. Get your prepped base. Duplicate it and set to Overlay@70% to make it a bit brighter.

2. Create a new layer and fill with #090037 then set it to Soft Light@70%

3. Create a new layer and fill with #6dcff6 then set it to Saturation@40%

4. Create a new layer and fill with #f49ac1 then set it to Color Burn@50%

5. For the last time, create a new layer and fill it with #f69679 then set it to Overlay@40%

6. Duplicate your base, desaturate and put it to Soft Light@40%

7. New Adjustment Layer: Selective Color

Yellows: 19, -70, 13, -12
Cyan: 90, -2, -69, -12
Blue: -100, -35, -68, -8
White: -7, -4
Neutrals: 10, 10

8. Add whatever you like then it's finished! :)

This was actually an experimentation on colors and their uses. Honestly, I was amazed that they could actually be the only things on an icon. It's so cool! ♥

Sixth Tutorial :)

In seven steps. :) With only Curves and Channel Mixer.

1. Get your prepped base. Duplicate it and set to Softlight@60%. Adjust if needed, make sure it evens out the colors to make it more contrasting and bright.

2. Create a new layer and fill with #07002b then set it to Exclusion@40%

3. New Adjustment Layer: Curves

RGB
(1st) Input: 106 Output: 98
(2nd) Input: 188 Output: 209
Green
(1st) Input: 141 Output: 121
(2nd) Input: 207 Output: 195

4. Duplicate your base, set it on top to Overlay@30%.

5. New Adjustment Layer: Channel Mixer

Red
Red: 100
Green: 4
Constant: 2

6. New Adjustment Layer: Hue/Saturation

Saturation: 35

7. Last but not the least, add whatever you want. I added some circle brushes from the same unknown maker and adjusted the opacity.

And it's finished! ♥

Fifth Tutorial :)

In just eleven steps. :) Includes only Selective Coloring and Curves.

For my friend, Issa, again. :D

1. Get your base. Prep it up. (Sharpen, Duplicate and set to Softlight, etc.) Flatten. But what I did was duplicate my base twice, set the first to Screen@60% and the next to Soft Light@80% so it looks a little lighter now.
*My base was from basicbases

2. Create a new layer and fill with #6dcff6 and set to Saturation@50%.

3. Create another layer and fill it with #fdc689 and set to Color Burn@40%.

4. Now then create a Curves layer. Use this settings:

RGB (1st)- Input: 206, Output: 210
(2nd)- Input: 83, Output: 95
Red (1st)- Input: 199, Output: 189
(2nd)- Input: 79, Output: 99
Blue(1st)- Input: 173, Output: 226
(2nd)- Input: 99, Output: 101

5. Create another layer and fill it with #9d0a0e and set to Saturation@100%.

6: Then create another adjustment layer which is Selective Colors. I used this settings:

Reds: -68, -20, 33, 26
Yellows: -100, -33, -17, -19
Cyan: 100, 22, -100, 15
Blue: 34, 24, 43, -40
White: -24, 48, -73, 47
Neutrals: 14, -24, -25, 2

7. Create a new layer and fill with #08002f and set to Exclusion@50%.

8. Create another layer and fill it with #a36109 and set to Color@10%.

9. Then I added a circle brush by someone(kindly tell me who made this if you know so i could give proper credit) in white. I duplicated it 'cuz I can't really see it. Then merged the two brush layer.

10. Then add/make those circle textures. I made one by duplicating the icon and flattening it then filling it with black. Next, go to filter>render>lens flare. Choose whatever you like? Then go to filter>distort>polar coordinates(rectangular to polar). Copy and paste this to your original icon and set to Lighten.
*Learned this is on one of the discussions about this kind of texture and how to make them.

11. Lastly, I added a glowy dot by faintscribbles and set to Lighten.

AND TADA! Finished! Hope it helped. :)

Fourth Tutorial :)

In just seven easy steps. :) Includes only Levels.

For my friend, Issa. :D

1. Get your base. Prep it up. (Sharpen, Duplicate and set to Softlight, etc.) Flatten.
*My base was provided by my friend so I don't know where she got it. ^^;;

2. Create a new layer and fill with #0d004c and set to Exclusion.

3. Now create a adjustment layer, Levels. Play with it if you need to. I used this settings:
Input Levels: 35 - 1.64 - 241
Output Levels: 0 - 255

4. I used this texture by 77_words and set it to Lighten, 100%.

5. Duplicate your base and set it on top. Desaturate and put it to Softlight, 100%.

6. Whatever you still want to add. :) For mine, as requested, I used a brush by someone but I forgot who (I'm pretty sure that the maker's in my

resources, though. If not, please tell me so proper credits are made. ^^) and added a text

in it. :D

7. Finally, I used again a texture by 77_words and set it to Lighten, 60%.

*For the alternative, just desaturate your base and you'd come up with this.

Here's Tutorial number 3! Hope you find this useful!

We'll go from here: to here:
Used Curves and Selective Coloring.

1. Prepare your base. (Sharpen, Multiply, Screen, etc. Flatten if you have layers.) *If it's a manga base (just like mine), delete the white background. Duplicate before coloring so in that way, you'll have two bases. A colored and uncolored one.

2. Open another blank canvas. Paste this texture by cdg then set to Multiply.

3. Create a new layer and fill it with this #fff200 (or it depends) and set to Color.

4. Paste this texture by arisubox and set it to Hue.

5. Now, paste your base in the canvas.

6. Create a new layer and fill it with this #8ad9f8 and set to Saturation at around 80% opacity for a more colorful base. :)

7. On a new layer again, fill it with dark blue and set to Exclusion. Lower the opacity if needed.

8. Get this texture from appendix-squared and set to Color Burn. (I used two for more dynamics. Both are on Color Burn at 100% opacity)

9. Use a glowy dot by faintscribbles and set to Lighten. Place it wherever you want. :)

10. Duplicate your base, desaturate and place it on top. *For manga bases, paste first your uncolored base before the desaturated colored one* Set it/both to Soft Light 40%.

11. New adjustment layer. Curves:
a) Input: 46 ; Output: 62
b) Input: 149 ; Output: 146

12. Repeat step 10 but this time, set the layer/s to Overlay with around 15% opacity.

13. New Selective Color layer:
Reds: -100, 33, 75, 12
Yellows: 3, -8, 35, 16
Neutrals: -38, -15, -66, 50

14. Put this texture by 77_words and set to Lighten. Adjust the opacity if needed.

15. Use a gradient by cdg and set to Soft Light with 20% opacity.

16. Duplicate your base and set it on top on Linear Dodge around 15%.

17. Add any extras you want. (For mine, I erased some things on my first texture [from #2] and created a text layer just after it. I used SF Distant Galaxy Outline; 24pt; Tracking: 480; Color:#dbdbdb and typed XIII. I lowered the opacity so it would blend in the background.)

Tutorial 2

Here's tutorial 2. *gasp* This early? Haha. I'm bored. :)

We'll go from this: to this:

1) Prepare your base (Do the usual. Just flatten if you have layers.). Set it aside. :)

2) Open a new 94x94 px canvas.

3) Fill with #411a4d.

4) Fill with #526bb2 and set to Exclusion 30%.

5) Fill with #391744 and set to Soft Light.

6) Grab your base again and copy and paste it to the blank (color-filled) canvas. Set it to Linear Light.

7) Use this gradient and set it to Soft Light. (Credit to the maker. If you know who she/he is, please do tell.)

8) Duplicate your base and set to Soft Light.

9) Create a new Hue/Saturation Layer. Adjust to your preferences. (I increased the Saturation to 44 and the Lightness to 20)

10) New Selective Color layer:

Reds: -1, -19, 19, 0
Blues: 100, 67, -82, 30
Whites: 100, 100, 100, -2
Neutrals: 59, 33, 17, -7
Blacks: 100, 100, 100, 100

11) Add a glowy dot by faintscribbles. :) Put it where you prefer and set it to Screen.

12) Using the Rectangular Marquee Tool, create a rectangular (duh-ness) box and fill it with the color of your choice. Adjust the position to your liking.

13) Add text. (Mine is "royalty". Violation, 14 pt, Tracking: 100, b-ed and i-ed)

14) Flatten. Open a new 100x100 px canvas. Paste there.

15) Put your favorite border brush and it's finished. (I adjusted the opacity of my border so it'd suit my icon.)

Finished! Again, experiment and adjust! I'd like to see the greatness of your work so include an image of your outcome? I'd be happy. :D

So well, this is my first tutorial. Hope it helps. *scratches head* :)

We'll go from this: to this:

1. Grab your base and resize it to 94x94 px. Make it a decent one. (Sharpen, multiply, screen, etc. Flatten if you have layers.)

2. Use this gradient by cdg and set it to Screen.

3. Duplicate your base and put in on top. Set it to Overlay.

4. Now use this texture by 77_words to Screen.

5. Make a new Saturation layer and adjust it to your liking. (For mine, I put the saturation to 28.)

6. New Selective Color layer:

Reds: 100, 49, -10, 74
Yellows: 100, 100, 100, 100
Cyans: 0, 76, 70, 100
Blues: 0, 58, 41, 29
Whites: 0, 58, 70, 50
Neutrals: 0, 0, 50, 0

7. Another Selective Color layer:

Reds: 100, 37, 78, 19
Cyans: 100, 100, 100, 100
Blues: 0, 58, 41, 29
Whites: 100, 26, 55, -8
Neutrals: -9, -3, -12, 23

8. Again by 77_words, put this texture to Lighten.

9. Duplicate your base. Desaturate and put it on top to Soft Light 40%.

10. Grab this texture and put it to Color Burn. (I forgot who made this. Please tell me if you know.)

11. Use this glowy dot by faintscribbles and set it to Screen. I moved it a little under the apple Fai is holding.

12. Lastly, I added a text. (Squired, 8pt, #ae3086, Linear Burn)

13. Flatten it all. Now, open a new 100x100 canvas. Paste your flattened layer there.

14. Add you favorite border brush and you're done! (Mine's from sowicked)

Experiment a little and you might make your icon prettier. Show me your outcome!
