Rules
Abax is a panfandom, alternate universe, and original character friendly game.
Meaning that characters from any fandom are welcome to apply here, but so too are well thought out, developed original characters, and alternate universe versions of canon characters. All applications are reviewed for standards of quality, grammar, punctuation and attention to character detail and grasp of characterization. For more information on the application process, please click here.
Treat others as you wish to be treated.
Everyone here aims to provide a safe, welcoming environment where we can all have fun. The mods of Abax have a zero tolerance policy for bullying or unnecessary drama of any kind. If you cannot show respect or common courtesy to your fellow players, then Abax is not the right game for you. That said, if you feel as though you are having problems with another player and cannot work it out on your own do not hesitate to bring it to the attention of the mods. They are always more than happy to work with you and the other player (or players) in conflict to attempt to reach a mutually satisfactory conclusion.
No drama.
This should be fairly self-explanatory, and if the above rule is followed drama is more than avoidable. However, if you feel as though you have been put in a position where drama may become unavoidable contact the mods. They will assist in trying to keep an eye on things, and hopefully nip any blooming problems in the bud before they become an issue. Alternatively, if the mods of Abax feel as though one or more parties are intentionally trying to stir up drama, warnings will be issued. Abax believes in a three strike policy, and after the third offense you will be barred from the game. We may allow players to plead their case for re-entry, but this will be taken on a case by case basis.
Roleplay is not serious business.
We are here to have fun, and provide a welcoming atmosphere to all players. We put our player bases' comfort above all else and will do our best as mods to insure the environment maintains the level of light-hearted fun one looks for in a relaxation hobby.
While in character, stay in character.
We understand that with time, and diverse situations characters will develop differently and grow beyond what their 'canon' provides. This does not excuse wildly out of character behavior. We should never see Ezio weeping like a woman over spilled milk, or Tony Stark settling down and having kids.Characters should never be used as a mouth piece through which players can vent, and should anyone feel as though a character is being played oocly and you do not wish to speak to them personally, or cannot contact them through an HMD, please contact the mods with a detailed explanation as to why you believe this character to be out of line, and they will research the matter and discuss it with the player in question. If you wish to contact the mods anonymously about any such matters, there is a screened complaints post here through which you may contact the mods anonymously.
In character does not equal out of character.
We understand that not everyone automatically clicks, and that not all players will get along, but this does not give players the right to use a character as a mouth piece for venting against another player or player's characters. There is no need to be unnecessarily rude in character because you cannot get along. Alternatively, if a character acts rudely towards one of your own, players should remember that this is not a reflection of how another player feels about them. The personality and feelings of a character and a player should always remain separate, and should you feel as though there is a problem with this, do not hesitate to contact a mod.
An IC Permissions Post MUST be filled out.
The game provides a mandatory permissions post to be filled out upon entrance to the game. The Permissions post is a locked post that can be accessed by players at any time.
The maximum number of characters one player may play is currently four.
After the first activity check (I.E, two months) if the player in question has passed activity check with all of his or her characters, then the maximum number of characters increases to six. In the future this number may increase, but as of now players may only have a maximum of four characters active in game. That said, we do not ask that you play a fandom character to apply original characters, however, the maximum number of original characters one may play in game is three. You may contact the mods if you wish to take on more characters than the current limit, but this will be discussed and considered on a case-by-case basis.
No godmoding.
While we do expect that some characters will be stronger than others, we will not allow the puppeteering of another players character. You cannot control any outcome for your own characters' personal gain without expressed permission, nor decide how another character will react to a situation without the other players consent. You may not maim, torture, or kill any character without discussing it with the player first. The golden rule here is that if you are questioning whether or not an action will be okay, speak to the other player first. It is better to be safe than sorry, and any players found godmoding will be dealt with accordingly.
No infomodding.
Just because you have learned, or know of some fact about a character or about the game out of character does not mean your character is privy to this same knowledge. What information you have about a character does not translate to what your character also knows, please remember this as a courtesy to other players.
No fourth-walling without expressed permission.
While we will allow the fourth-wall breaking of a player's character, we do not allow this unless the player of said character in question has given their expressed permission. We would like to see fourth-walling kept to a minimum as a general, we also understand that this can be a fun experience for some, and so will not abhor it. Remember, respect whatever decision your fellow player has made on the subject, as their will be consequences for anyone found disregarding this.
No self-threading.
This should be self-explanatory, and easy to avoid in a panfandom game such as this. If you want to write by yourself, the mods suggest taking up fanfiction.
Stay active.
While we understand that real life takes precedence over roleplay we do encourage players to be as active as they can. Activity checks will be posted on the first of every month, barring unforeseen circumstances. For more information on activity checks, please refer to the General Information post.
All mature content must be placed behind a cut, and friends locked to the community.
The age requirement to play at Abax is 16 and up. Abax is a mature themed game, with dark themes. It is not impossible, nor unlikely that the content of some posts may offend some users. Sexual content, excessive gore, references of extreme violence and extreme language MUST all be placed under an lj-cut and locked to the community. When in doubt, lock it anyway! Better to have to click a link than to have the denizens of livejournal descend upon us. Anyone under the age of 18 is not permitted to take part in any post or log marked as NC-17.
