Announcing the 2026 A2 Community Bookfest Headliner!

Katie Kitamura
Katie Kitamura is the bestselling author of A Separation and Intimacies, one of The New York Times’ “10 Best Books of 2021.” Known for her elegant prose that asks powerful questions about morality, identity, and narrative, her work has been translated into 21 languages and is being adapted for film and television. In her talks on fiction and identity, she delves into language, the immigrant experience, and finding her voice as a writer.
Her newest release, Audition, was shortlisted for the 2025 Booker Prize and a finalist for the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Audition is an irresistibly engaging, masterfully crafted novel featuring Kitamura’s signature beguiling style readers know and love her for. Following the story of two people meeting for lunch—an elegant and accomplished actress in rehearsals for an upcoming premiere, and a man who is attractive, troubling, and young enough to be her son—Audition leads readers to question whether we ever really know the people we love.
