Dear Logan Families,

This will be my final Weekly Family Update for the 2025–2026 school year. As we wrap up this incredible year, I want to take a moment to reflect and express my gratitude to the entire Logan community.

First, thank you to the incredible Logan staff. This talented and dedicated team of educators brings their full selves to the work of teaching and supporting our students every day. Their care, creativity, and commitment help our Logan Leopards grow, learn, and thrive. I am deeply proud of the work we do here at Logan, of the expertise across our classrooms, the thoughtfulness in every lesson, and the way our staff works together to provide such meaningful experiences for our students. Our entire Logan community is so fortunate to have such an amazing group of educators!

Thank you as well to our amazing Logan families. Your support throughout the year, whether you volunteered your time, attended events, cheered on students, or simply stayed connected, has made all the difference. Special thanks to our PTSO for their extraordinary efforts. They organized more than 10 community-building events (events like Winter Festival, Spring Carnival, Beats and Treats, and more), coordinated six enriching assemblies for our students, and supported numerous field trips so that every Logan student had at least one opportunity to learn outside the classroom. Additionally, the PTSO provided crucial support for classroom needs through fundraising and mini grants. I am so grateful to our entire PTSO. Your partnership makes Logan a truly exceptional place for our students.

It is a true privilege to be the principal of Logan. I wish you all a restful and wonderful summer!

Hearing and Vision Screenings

Due to recent staffing changes within their Hearing and Vision Program, the Washtenaw County Health Department unfortunately is not able to conduct the Hearing and Vision screenings at Logan before the conclusion of the school year. The WCHD understands the importance of these screenings and apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause.

Families may still schedule free hearing and vision screenings with the WCHD program during the summer months. Additional information can be found on their website here.  In addition, depending on staff availability, we may be able to provide screenings during summer school or other school-related summer events.

Schools impacted by these cancellations will be prioritized as we begin scheduling for the fall screening season.

May 11, 2026

Dear Logan Families,

Last week, several staff members and I visited two schools in Portage that were designed by the same architects building our new Logan Elementary. What we saw was inspiring: beautiful, functional spaces where our staff will be able to continue the great work they do and where students will be able to thrive. The Portage staff shared so much about their experience moving to a new building. They shared how the new building itself changed their school culture in really positive ways, with students taking ownership of their spaces. While nothing is perfect, their enthusiasm and pride in their new home made me really excited about moving into the new space. Stay tuned as we begin preparing Logan for this exciting next chapter!

I also want to send a huge thank you to our Logan PTSO for organizing such a wonderful Staff Appreciation Week! From the in-flight breakfast cart on Monday to the themed activities throughout the week, the "PLANE Awesome" celebration was such fun! Your generosity and creativity made the week special for our teachers and staff. Thank you for everything you do to support Logan!
