The LUCK Principle: Business Results at the Intersection of People and Profit
The workplace is being reshaped. Technology is transforming how people interact with each other and with the world around them. The data that organizations must understand is growing at an explosive pace. Customers expect better experiences. Employees crave more meaningful engagement.
Harnessing these forces to balance a people-first culture and bottom-line results is not only possible, it is critical for success in the future workplace. Business expert, public speaker, and entrepreneur Geoff Ables shows readers how to balance these two typically conflicting priorities to sustain employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and business returns through the application of The LUCK Principle.
Ables simplifies sometimes complex and technical subject matter through business parables, infographics, case studies, illustrations, and insights from other thought leaders. Walk in the shoes of Patrick, the central fictional character, as he discovers how to listen to others, understands people at a deeper level, connects with them in more relevant ways, knows what the results are and continuously improve—and how he applies technology to these concepts to make them work in a large organization.

Powerful
Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2016I found this book very engaging. "The LUCK Principle: Business Results at the Intersection of People and Profit” by Geoff Ables, is not a typical business self-help book. The author did away with the standard dry approach of so many other books. He draws on creativity to tell a tale of Patrick, as he rises from college to CEO. This technique not only keeps us interested in the lessons, it also is the perfect way to illustrate the wisdom of the LUCK principle. The points may appear simple, but they are actually profound. Anyone who has achieved anything of importance could only have succeeded by using LUCK (whether they knew it or not). Ables offers a road map to success by showing us how to use LUCK to take control. The powerful messages come through in a clear and concise manner wrapped in an entertaining and vivid story. Aunt Mal was my favorite. Impressive work. Highly recommended. Five stars.

Eye Opening, Filled With Excellent Information, Engaging Read
Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2016Wow! This book is a must read for anyone in leadership whose success depends upon engaged employees to deliver exceptional results. The author explains the principles with simplicity and provides actionable insight into how to apply the concepts discussed. I've read many business focused books in the past, but few as enjoyable! I'm used to the typical lecture style with facts, figures, diagrams and case studies. The LUCK Principle is packed with thought provoking scenarios and imagery; as well as infographics containing stats from industry leading experts that left me thinking about how to begin measuring success and failure. But it was the storyline that had me hooked from the first page and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I highly recommend spending an afternoon immersed in the LUCK journey, it was well worth the time.

A great read--and this is a business book!
Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2016A great read--and this is a business book?! So often I can't bring myself to even crack the cover on the latest business advice volume, let alone finish it, but with this book, Ables breaks the mold. Using a fictional character and back-story to illustrate and carry the core principals he's seeking to convey, Ables has found a brilliant way to capture our attention and at the same time invite us to thoughtfully consider the LUCK principle.
I work in government but LUCK is easily transferable to my environment and I plan to give several copies to my co-workers. In an age when technology clearly offers so much but has become almost an end in itself, finding a balanced approach to making that technology for work humans instead of the other way around is no small task. Using LUCK as a construct to reconsider human interactions and technology tools to enhance those interactions is clearly worth consideration.
I highly recommend this book for anyone trying to maximize the effectiveness of their organization--business or otherwise. And you might be surprised at how much deeper it goes than business.

We finally experienced success after reading this book.
Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2017For a long time my company was struggling with how to communicate with employees and customers. Periodically wrestling with how to genuinely provide success and satisfaction, while also making sure we were acquiring a secure profit. As a company, we read through "The LUCK Principle" and it zoomed in on exactly that: people + profit and how you can't have one without the other. It walked through specific details on how to create a genuine and joyful loyalty within employees, and how to nurture customers in a way that naturally makes them the "coffee shop regular" at the front door of your brand. Now, with these small paradigm shifts being regularly practiced by our company, we are visually seeing the fruit of it through strengthened company culture, regularly reoccurring customers, and a great profit that indicated great, well-served people.

A Business Plan Explaned with a Novelist's Technique
Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2016By using the techniques and skills of a novelist, the author elevates this book from the usual business-advice monotony to an interesting reading experience for both the business person searching for answers and the casual reader searching for a good story. The Horatio Alger like rise of the book’s protagonist is inter-spliced with the critical points of a business success operating plan.
