Clivias The Hammett Collection Dr Keith Hammett has the largest and most comprehensive collection of Clivias in New Zealand. Built up over more than a quarter of a century the collection contains accessions of all known species except the recently named C. mirabilis. Clivia miniata, the best-known species, has been bred in cultivation.

Clivia Article Clivia Mutations and Colour Variation By Wessel Lötter ----------------------- SA Clivia seed sowing instructions: a)Fill the seed tray half full with a mix of 50% seedling soil and 50% good rotted garden compost b)Drench with water. c)Place the seeds on top of the mix and firm down with your hand (upper surface of the seed must be showing.) d)Place tray in a warm spot that receives good light (not direct sunlight.) e)Water once a week with organic plant food. f)Germination should take 4~8 weeks with the root tip emerging first. The first leaf follows 2-3 weeks later. Dont to move the seedling at this stage as the root can break at the point where it emerges from the seed. g)Re-pot into a 15 cm pot about 8 months after sowing when the leaves are about 15 cm long and use the same soil mix. Crinum x powellii

Crinum bulbispermum ("Grass Lily") is native to the Orange River valley of South Africa. It is summer growing and deciduous. In cultivation in the Northern Hemisphere, it blooms in early to mid-summer, early June into July. It is characterized by glaucous, light green leaves and a relatively tall scape, 24 to 30 inches tall.

Bijzonderheden: in april wordt de bol van deze plant gepoot; de neus aan de oppervlakte van een ruime pot met voedzame grond; pas zodra de bol uitloopt mag water gegeven worden; er komen talloze kleine stervormige groene bloemen die een grote aar vormen; elk van de bladeren heeft een purperen rand; bovenop de cilinder met bloemen staat een muts van groen blad; deze soort wordt vijfenzeventig centimeter hoog en breed. Standplaats: een warme plek in de tuin of op het terras, maar liever niet in de volle zon; Bloeiseizoen: vanaf juli tot in de herfst.

Sternbergia candia Sternbergia is een soort van de familie Amaryllidaceae, die langs het Mediterrane stroomgebied en het Midden-Oosten worden gevonden, vaak groeiend in rotsachtige plaatsen. Hoewel zij een beetje op een Crocus lijken, zijn zij meer verwant aan Narcissen. De meesten van hen zijn geel en bloeien in de herfst, maar er zijn een paar soorten die in de lente bloeien en één ervan bloeit wit. Veel van de herfstbloeiende soorten, bloeien nadat de eerste regens vallen en vóórdat de bladeren verschijnen. Sternbergia lutea
