How to Use Our Online Stopwatch
A stopwatch is a powerful tool for measuring elapsed time, from the start of an event to its end. Our Online Stopwatch is designed to be intuitive, accurate, and useful for a wide range of activities. This guide explains how to use each feature.
Understanding the Controls
Our stopwatch has a clean layout with five main buttons. Here’s what each one does:
- ▶️ Start / Stop Button This is your primary control. Click the green Start button to begin timing. Once the timer is running, this button will turn into a red Stop button. Click it again to pause the timer at the current time. You can resume by clicking Start again.
- 🚩 Split Button The Split button allows you to record a specific moment in time without stopping the main timer. Think of it as marking a lap in a race. Every time you click Split, the current time is recorded and added to a list below the timer, while the main timer continues to run. This is perfect for timing individual segments of a larger event.
- 🔄 Reset Button The Reset button clears the current time on the display and sets it back to
00:00:00.00. It also clears all recorded splits. This button is only active after the stopwatch has been stopped, preventing you from accidentally erasing your time while it’s running. - 🗑️ Clear Splits Button If you have a list of recorded split times that you want to remove, use the Clear Splits button. This will wipe the splits list clean but will not affect the main timer, which will continue running or remain paused at its current time.
- 📄 Export CSV Button For users who need to save their split times for analysis, the Export CSV button is a powerful feature. Clicking it will download a simple spreadsheet file (
.csv) containing all your recorded split times, which you can then open in applications like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
