THE CHALLENGE
Following the destruction of property and personal belongings caused by the LA wildfires, many in the music community were left without the tools essential to their careers and creative expression. Traditional fundraising platforms lacked the ability to match specific needs with direct support. A fast, secure, and meaningful solution was needed to help this niche but deeply affected population.
THE SOLUTION
In collaboration with longtime client Brandon Jay and development partner BOSC Tech Labs, 5D Spectrum conceptualized and launched Instrumental Giving in just six weeks. The platform was designed to make matching lost items with donations intuitive and efficient.
Fire victims can register, verify their status, and list specific items lost, including sentimental stories behind them. Donors can filter requests by instrument, genre, or user profile, and reach out directly to support individuals in need. The app also includes features for in-app chat, financial donations, and donor-victim coordination.
Instrumental Giving officially launched on April 26, 2025, after a successful soft launch focused on onboarding donors. Backed by the NAMM Foundation, and supporters: Fender, Bertrands Music Pasadena, Sweetwater, DW Drums Foundation, and Yamaha to name a few, plus so many talented music industry professionals like Brandon Jay, Liz Garo, Patria Jacobs, KC Mancebo, and so many others, the platform is already restoring music and hope to the Southern California community.
And a special thank you to our clients who have supported this project with generous donations:
eBow, InTune Guitar Picks, Moody Leather Guitar Straps, and Alfred Music.
