squee another coloring tut. and lost again yay. how to get this coloring:

okay first get your base. i used a cap i made myself from lost episode what kate did. now duplicate it three times. set the three new layers to screen and the top layer to 55% opacity. now flatten the image.

step two

now to give the image more color, new adjustment layer > levels. put in the following settings:
RGB: 83, 1.82, 255
RED: 81, 1.69, 255
GREEN: 20, 1.17, 255
bang bang click ok.

step three

new layer. fill with #0E184A or another dark blue and set to exclusion at 82 percent.

step four

now create a new layer and set to screen. fill it with #202020 or a scratch texture or something. i kept the opacity at 100 but if its ick then lower it

AND URM YES your done with the coloring:D now add effects bla bla LOVE MUCH

bright greenish colouring. selective colours involved. made is photoshop cs2

Okay firstly you need to grab a picture. Put into a 100x100 canvas. You know usual crap. But anyhow.

new selective colours layer
reds: -100, 0, -100, 0
yellows: -100, 0, -67, 0
neutrals: -8, 0, -28, -32

new selective colours layer
reds: -100, 0, +100, 0
yellows: -100, 0 , -100, 0
neutrals: +72, -21, +26, 0
click ok. Set the blend mode of this to darken

new colour balance layer
midtones: -48, -24, +28
shadows: -23, 0, -11
highlights, 0, 0, 0

new hue saturation lightness layer
up the saturation I did mine to fifty. But yes. TADA

hey guys. okay so in my icon post earlier today some people said they liked the coloring. and im crap at tutorial writing but im currently bored and so i decided to write one. under the cut is a tutorial for how to get the type of coloring on this icon:

okay so the tutorial is a basic step by step guide. i created it using paint shop pro 7 with curves and levels, but i guess you can translate it. please show me your results if you try this tut :D

step one

i am using a cap from lost media. i cropped and positioned it bla bla so that i had my base. right now we need a new adjustment layer > curves.

RGB:
input: 72, output: 160

RED:
input: 120, output: 102
input: 160, output: 163

GREEN:
input: 55, output: 39
input: 161, output: 129

BLUE:
input: 47, output: 41
input: 154, output: 122

okay now click ok. your image should look brighter (hopefully). if it looks ick then you've done something wrong or the image doesn't suit this tutorial. anyway on with the show

step two

right my image still wasn't bright enough for me, so i duplicated the curves layer, set the opacity to 45 and set it to luminance. setting it to luminance doesn't make that much of a difference, but the word is nice :D lmao

step three

okay now we want to get your icon more colored and stuff. and for that we use levels. make a new adjustment layer > levels. use the following settings:

RGB: 10, 0.69, 255
RED: 22, 1.25, 255
GREEN: 3, 1.06, 248
BLUE: 0, 1.05, 255

OK. set this layer to color. hopefully now the image is a bit higher saturated or whatever.

step four

this step should drastically change the coloring on your icon. depending on your base, it could look amazing or shit. lmfao

new adjustment layer > levels

RGB: 33, 0.84, 200
RED: 68, 0.82, 255
GREEN: 23, 1.14, 255
BLUE: 26, 1.23, 255

click ok and set the layer to mode COLOR. right now i put the opacity on mine down to 70, but play around with it to see what opacity best suits your image.

step five

this last step is optional. you could leave your icon as it is, or make a new raster layer set to exclusion and fill it with a dark blue color (i used #190B37). also after this, i lowered the opacity to 68.

mka tutorial

primeiroamor asked me to create a tutorial. well *release some of my secrets* to be precise so urm a tutorial is under the cut. one is colouring another small paragraph about effects.

So first things first. I do my icons in order of
- coloring first
- any additional crap ie rotating
- texture

so im going to be using mka pictures mka are love <3 when im searching for pictures with two people I usually try and get them hugging or far apart. I hate pictures where they are just leaning. Leaning = crap.

when I crop ill usually cut someone off. This time its mk because there leaning to the right. and mk is on the right. go figure

my pictures a bit orange. Which is kind of skanky. And I hate skank lol. So my main aim is to get mks top gorgeously bright red. And the majority of the picture cyany

new selective colour layer
reds: -100, 0, - 22, 0
yellows: +100, 0, -94, 0
neutrals: +52, 0, +6, -31

so what did we just do? We made sure the red was a little pinkish, we made the yellows (yacky orange) cynaish taking out the majority of skintones. With the neutral we adding lots of cyan, and took out the dark tones for *MATTE PERFECTION* lol.

now I want it all light and pretty. So new colour balance layer
midtones: -100, -27, - 100
shadows: +100, -1, -29
highlights: -5, 0, -9

new selective colours layer. set the method to absolute instead of relative
reds: -57, 0, +100, 0
yellows: -100, 0, -57, 0
neutrals: +30, 0, -21, -29

new hue/saturation/lighten layer
up the saturation, I upped mine to 46. and urm then find the best place to put it amongst the layers. TADA.

so now I have amazingly hott colouring. WHAT EFFECTS SHALL I DO?
well, im one for rotations. So I made a simple boring icon. And then I mirrored the image. Duplicated the layer flipped it 180 degrees. Hott anyone? Then go on texture overload.
