The same people that defended Clinton for trying to pork Lewinski in the Oval Office, the same people that declare that the wife and children of Obama are off limits are the same that are trying to smear a girl who made a mistake. I wonder which mistake is worse: the act or that she didn't abort at the first sign. I may not know much about Palin, but it is refreshing to see that a candidate stick with their convictions, rather than fluttering in the wind at the first sign of problems. You hear that Obama?

A sign of the apocalypse: Diddy halts private jet flights over fuel prices

LOS ANGELES - Fuel prices have grounded an unexpected frequent-flyer: Diddy.

Sean "Diddy" Combs complained about the "... too high" price of gas and pleaded for free oil from his "Saudi Arabia brothers and sisters" in a YouTube video posted Wednesday. The hip-hop mogul said he is now flying on commercial airlines instead of in private jets, which Combs said had previously cost him $200,000 and up for a roundtrip between New York and Los Angeles.

"I'm actually flying commercial," Diddy said before walking onto an airplane, sitting in a first-class seat and flashing his boarding pass to the camera. "That's how high gas prices are. I'm at the gate right now. This is really happening, proof gas prices are too high. Tell whoever the next president is we need to bring gas prices down."

Oh boo hoo. That's all I have to say.

A US Marine, French Woman & An Engish Gentleman

The train was quite crowded, so a U. S. Marine walked the entire length looking for a seat, but the only seat left was taken by a well dressed, middle-aged, French woman's poodle.

The war-weary Marine asked, "Ma'am, may I have that seat?"

The French woman just sniffed and said to no one in particular, "Americans are so rude.

'E can clearly see my little Fifi is using that seat."

The Marine walked the entire train again, but the only seat left was under that dog.

"Please, ma'am. May I sit down? I'm very tired."

She snorted, "Not only are you Americans rude, you are also arrogant!"

This time the Marine didn't say a word; he just picked up the little dog, tossed it out the train window, and sat down.

The woman shrieked, "Someone must defend my honour! Put thee American in 'is place!"

An English gentleman sitting nearby spoke up,

"Sir, you Americans seem to have a penchant for doing the wrong thing. You hold the fork in the wrong hand. You drive your autos on the wrong side of the road. And now, sir, you seem to have thrown the wrong bitch out the window.

Christianity 'could die out within a century'

By Laura Clout
Last Updated: 2:40PM BST 20/06/2008
More than half of Britons think Christianity is likely to have disappeared from the country within a century, according to a survey.

Research by the Orthodox Jewish organisation Aish found that just over a third of people thought religions like Christianity and Judaism would still be practiced in Britain in 100 years' time.

Although four in 10 people said they would choose to be a member of the Christian religion, almost the same number said they would rather practice no religion at all.

Buddhism however, proved more attractive than both Islam and Judaism, and was chosen by nine per cent of those questioned.

Aish UK's executive director Rabbi Naftali Schiff said the results of the YouGov poll of 2,000 people were alarming.

"It clearly demonstrates that religion, including Judaism, is becoming unattractive to the British public.

"At Aish we know that Judaism provides real meaning and enrichment to one's life. Whilst we have attracted many disinterested Jews back to Jewish identity it is clear there is much work to be done."

Research published earlier this year suggested that church attendance is declining so fast that the number of regular churchgoers will be fewer than those attending mosques within a generation.

According to Religious Trends, an analysis of religious practice in Britain, the huge drop off in attendance means that the Church of England, Catholicism and other denominations will become financially unviable.

In contrast, the number of actively religious Muslims is predicted to increase from about one million today to 1.96 million in 2035.

----------------------------

Sad how so many can and have turned away from the most dominant force in Europe for more than 1700 years, and which is inextricably tied to western civilization as we know it. I suppose in a hundred years,Britons will either be bowing to Mecca, hanging out with Richard Gere or be an atheist, unless the Goracle succeeds in converting them to the church of climate change.

I think this is the biggest problem facing us as a nation: we are always unhappy with what we have, and looking for a shortcut to getting a quick fix. Whether that quick fix is a new car, or a new purse or whatever it is, we are in a society that does not value saving or spendthrifts. Obama was right on some level when he was talking about how we drive gas guzzling cars, and keep our thermostat at 72, he was wrong when he said other countries would do something about it. We will, because our current pattern of living is unsustainable. The house of cards we have built using credit as means to do so will fall, as all short-sighted schemes do. It is unfortunate, but I see in the future Americans having to live with lower standards of living, because their previous generation refused to see reality.
