In the course of my ongoing case of writer's block, it has come to my attention that I should acqure a "plot bunny". I've never really been interested in rabbits, being more of a cat person. (Isn't a cat a more writerly pet anyway?)

I've started researching plot bunnies, and there's a lot of interesting info about them.

. . . The plot bunny (Conspiratius cuniculus) is much sought after by those who wish to pursue the path of the novelist, owing to their ability to aid the writer in crafting prose quickly and coherently.

One of the more interesting traits of plot bunnies is the seemingly-infinite variety of phenotype and temperment. They can vary from small chirrupy fluffy-coated imps to long-eared flop-bodies, with every color and personality in between. However, it has been observed anecdotally that there is some correlation between the bunny's appearance and the type of prose that he will inspire.

Unlike other varieties of rabbits, it is quite difficult for the fancier to breed these interesting creatures. Thus, specimens of the highest quality are usually wild-caught, rather than bred in captivity. As a result, it can be quite difficult to acquire a plot bunny.

I'll have to study up a bit more on them before I seriously consider bringing one home, but so far they look like useful pets to have around.
