I’ll need to get my editor to check before I publish any more posts because in the previous post I said Alex ate Quinoa and we met Fergus but that actually happened when we left Dubai. I’ll blame it on jetlag.
After a couple of hours sitting in Dubai Airport with many of the people from the earlier flight we lined up again but this time we went into an Airbus A380 and it was obviously a much newer plane. We were in a row of three seats this time at the front of the plane, luckily there was no-one sitting between us and the extra space made our journey more comfortable. The viewing screen told us we still had a long way to go.

It didn’t take long for the first lot of food to arrive but we weren’t hungry and most of it was wasted. After that we checked out the onboard entertainment and the much newer equipment meant we were able to watch the movies and hear the sound tracks. I watched Whoopie Goldberg in “Sister Act” and was onto my second movie, “Three Sisters”, when an announcement cut in saying we were approaching Glasgow. I was happy to abandon the movie and switch to information of the flight and vision from a camera showing the plane’s approach.
After we landed we walked across from the airport to our hotel, checked into our room and then went for a walk so that we wouldn’t immediately fall asleep. A receptionist gave us directions into Paisley where we thought we’d get an ice-cream or something because we were hot. We hadn’t expected to arrive in Glasgow to bright sunshine and the temperature in the mid 20s. We didn’t find the shops we had expected but saw lots of interesting big old homes, when our legs were complaining through tiredness were turned around and walked back. After spotting a family enjoying ice-creams we looked more closely at shops and found a corner store selling just what we wanted. We got back to the hotel and managed to stay up until 7 o’clock before our heads hit the pillow and we were both out like a light.
