The 2026 Yau International Mathematical Summer Camp for High School Students (the "Camp") will be held from July 1 to August 1, 2026, and is organized by the Shanghai Institute for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences (SIMIS).
The Camp is designed for mathematically talented and highly motivated high school students. Through intensive coursework, guided discussions, and academic activities, the Camp aims to introduce students to modern mathematics and to inspire those who may pursue future study and research in the mathematical sciences.
The Camp offers an approximately four-week curriculum covering foundational tools and topics relevant to modern mathematical research. In addition to lectures, selected courses may include problem sessions, TA-led discussions, and project-style activities to reinforce and extend learning outcomes.
1. Participants
The Camp plans to admit around 100 high school students from China and abroad. Applicants are expected to meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated mathematical talent and a strong high-school mathematics background; familiarity with basic calculus is preferred;
- Excellent academic performance and strong overall qualities;
- A genuine interest in mathematics and aspirations toward rigorous study in the mathematical sciences;
- Sufficient English proficiency to follow English-taught courses.
2. Application (How & When)
Application period: February 4, 2026 – March 31, 2026.
Applicants must log in to the online application system during the application period, complete the required information accurately, and upload all requested materials. Incomplete submissions or submissions not following system requirements may be considered invalid.

3. Dates and Program Schedule (July 1 – August 1, 2026)
The Camp runs from July 1 to August 1, 2026, with the following structure:
- Check-in: July 1
- Preparatory Courses (Optional): July 2–3
- Attendance is optional;
- Written Exam (Mandatory) — Screening & Scholarship Allocation: July 4
- The written exam is a key basis for scholarship tier assignment (see Section 5).
- Main Camp (Official Courses): July 5 – August 1
4. Selection Process & Arrangement for Overseas Students
- Selection based on application materials: SIMIS will review submitted materials and notify selected participants.
- Pre-Camp arrangement: Before the official start of the main Camp, optional preparatory courses will be offered, and the mandatory written exam on July 4 will be conducted for scholarship allocation.
- Scholarship allocation: Scholarship tiers will be determined based on the July 4 written exam results.
- Special arrangement for students studying overseas: After admission is confirmed, SIMIS will arrange an individual online interview as soon as possible for scholarship allocation assessment. The interview time will be announced separately.
5. Fees & Scholarships (Four Tiers)
Camp fees are divided into four tiers. The final tier assignment will be determined based on the July 4 written exam results:
- First-Tier Scholarship (approx. 10%)
- RMB 10,000 (includes accommodation and meals)
- Tuition waived
- Travel reimbursement provided, subject to the following standards:
- Flights: economy class only, with round-trip total not exceeding RMB 10,000
- High-speed rail: second-class seat only
- Second-Tier Scholarship (approx. 20%)
- RMB 10,000 (includes accommodation and meals)
- Tuition waived
- Third-Tier Scholarship (approx. 50%)
- RMB 15,000 (includes accommodation and meals)
- Partial tuition waiver
- No Scholarship (approx. 20%)
- RMB 20,000 (includes accommodation, meals, and tuition)
6. Payment & Refund Policy
- Application fee payment after admission confirmation: After receiving an admission offer and confirming participation, students must pay an application fee of RMB 10,000 through the online system. This fee covers logistical support including accommodation and meals.
- Additional payment after scholarship allocation: After the July 4 written exam, students will pay any remaining balance according to their final scholarship tier.
- Refund policy: In principle, once participation is confirmed and payment is successfully made, the RMB 10,000 application fee is non-refundable.
7. Additional Notes
The Camp will continue to host academic activities and project-style components, including awards such as the Best Project Award (BPA). The BPA will be conferred at Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels. Awardees will receive certificates and project support in the amounts of RMB 10,000, RMB 8,000, and RMB 5,000, respectively.
