Newsletter Update - Holiday 2025
It's a Very Merry Update
So, elephant in the room out of the way, I am aware my output this past month has been terrible, right there among my weaker months. I did get stressed out about it, but sometimes life happens, and I was dealing with a lot behind the scenes (nothing too horrible, just busy life stuff and neck pain). I do feel better, and I think the Thanksgiving holiday period was a big help. Starting next week, I plan to ramp up my output, and it’s going to be a big month for the newsletter.
My Final 2025 Gaming Plans
I finished Dispatch, and now Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has arrived. Metroid is my favorite video game IP, so this latest entry has my hype meter off the charts. I was playing two other games, but had to decide to drop them. I’ll be releasing an article soon on the games I played but didn’t finish this year. As for the big finale, it's Metroid Prime 4, and I think I’m going to do and Roger since it’s really short and I’ve heard great things about it. That would put my final tally of completed 2025 games at 16, which is four short of my goal, but that’s still an upgrade from the last two years, and I did complete a few games from other years. Next year, I’m knocking off a bucket list game with Cyberpunk 2077, and I'm aiming for 20 games, hoping to go over that goal. I have a lot of ideas for the newsletter that I’ve been holding onto for next year, and it’s going to be exciting.
Holiday Movie Watch
I’ve silently started my holiday movie watch with three films and I’ll provide updates on my social media. As always, I kicked it off with my favorite Christmas movie, The Muppet Christmas Carol. I love the Christmas Carol story for many reasons, but this is easily my favorite adaptation and, in my opinion, the most accessible. I also watched The Santa Clause, which is a childhood classic, despite Tim Allen being a bit of an a-hole in real life. Lastly, Gremlins, another childhood classic that I feel many people forget, is a holiday film. The holiday movie watching will increase over the next week and I’ll talk about it on my socials.
Rankings Madness
Finally, starting next week (December 8th), it’s going to be lists and rankings galore as I talk about favorite moments, characters, awards, my person of the year, and finally my top twelve favorite games of the year. I’ll also have a few opinion pieces out, looking at the aftermath of the Game Awards and more. If you like lists and rankings, this is going to be your month.
I got a lot of stuff planned in the back of my head, and I might be working on some of that already behind the scenes. I want to end 1UP Vault with a bang before starting the new year with its own big bang.
