A New Era: All-Women’s College and New Leadership
After much deliberation between the women’s society, the board of education, the Phelps-stokes foundation, and Bennett college, It was decided to turn Bennett College into an All-Women’s College. David Dallas Jones assumed office in September and formally inaugurated in 1927.

Operation Doorknock Launches at Bennett College

Operation Doorknock launches this April as a part of the 34th annual homemaking institute. Thurgood Marshall and Dr. Benjamin Mays spoke at the start of the event and helped launch it.
*Operation Doorknock was an initiative led by students and faculty alike, where Belles would go around Greensboro’s black community and encourage people to vote. They made it possible to register to vote at Bennett and organized car/bus rides to the voting polls for the community to use.
