The Tutu Project is a breast cancer nonprofit, founded by Bob and Linda Carey after Linda’s diagnosis. It began as an act of love when Bob began photographing himself in a pink tutu to lift Linda’s spirits during treatment. Those playful images brought levity to a challenging time and grew into a mission of helping others facing breast cancer.
Fourteen years later, The Tutu Project remains a grassroots, hands-on organization, providing donor-supported financial and emotional assistance to women in active breast cancer treatment and their families. Through donors’ generosity and support, we offer meaningful help that eases everyday burdens and reminds people they are not alone. A ride to chemo. Child care. Food in the fridge. A mortgage payment. The Tutu Project helps people with breast cancer get through their day with support for all those things that cancer doesn’t care about. All the everyday stuff that suddenly becomes unaffordable – even for people with insurance.
